Why do women oppose radfem ideology so much, like what has liberal feminism even offered.
Women oppose radfem ideology because itâs incredibly toxic and close minded. Radfem ideology often wants to take away a womenâs choice to do what they want simply because a man might like it when a woman does that thing (such as shaving, wearing makeup, having kinks, ect) Often radfem ideology doesnât take into account the fact that people are different and that they grow up with diffrent experiences. So this idea that all women should want the same things is just incredibly ridiculous.
And this is coming from a women who also doesnât agree with liberal feminism. Modern feminism as a whole is deeply flawed and not something I agree with. I donât like being painted a victim of everything just because Iâm a woman.
When have radfems ever advocated for womenâs rights being restricted? Yes, radfems have critiqued makeup and shaving culture, but I donât think any radfem woman would say that women should be forced or pressured to not shave or wear make up, you know, like the opposite of what actually happens in real like where women ARE forced and pressured to do those things
Iâve seen countless radfems shame women who enjoy wearing make up or shaving. âYou cant be empowered by make up or shaving or dressing up because thatâs what the patriarchy wants you to do.â is a statement Iâve seen multiple times from radfems.
At least libfems realize that women find empowerment in these things because they choose to do them for themselves and no one else.
Saying that something objectively isnât empowering isnât forcing you to stop doing itâŚ. are women getting fired or passed over at work for wearing make up? Harassed in public for their decision to shave?
Wearing makeup doesnât give you power. It just doesnât. That doesnât mean you canât do it, but Iâm not going to throw you are party for conforming, and thatâs why people donât like radfems I guess đ¤ˇââď¸
Here is the thing though, you donât get to pick and choose what other women find empowering. If you personally donât find wearing make up or shaving or anything like that empowering then thatâs fine, but that doesnât mean that other women think the same was as you.Â
People donât like radfems because you constantly mock and belittle anyone that doesnât agree with you, especially other women. You like to pretend that you are better then everyone when in reality youâre just bitter and awful.Â
We clearly mean different things when we say empowerment. Iâm using the traditional definition. A thing is empowering if it gives you power.
What youâre talking about is confidence. Which, sure, different things make different women feel confident. But that has nothing to do with feminism? Individual women feeling confident isnât going to dismantle patriarchy, because patriarchy is not caused by womenâs insecurity.
So, again, as a feminist, my focus is not on what makes individual women feel good. What I care about is the liberation of all women. I donât wear makeup, and itâs not because I âfeel empoweredâ when I donât. Itâs because the beauty industry is terrible to women and I want as little of my money going to it as possible.
Radfems arenât going to give you a cookie for making choices that make you feel good, but donât do anything to liberate women. Honestly, if you have free choices youâre more privileged than most women, and you should probably spend more time thinking about how to help them, rather than which choice makes you feel most confident.
If youâre not bitter, youâre not paying attention to whatâs happening to women.
Anyways I really just donât give a shit what you think cant empower women just because it doesnât personally empower you lmao.
People like you that donât ever take in to account how other people feel are exactly why everyone with more then 2 brain cells hates radfems and radfem ideology.
why do you think feminism should be about how you personally feel lol
Liberals literally cannot fathom a world outside their individualist bubbles
Empowerment isnât on an individual case by case basis. If it isnât an action which aids in the liberation of womankind, it is not a feminist action. Stop saying itâs empowering or feminist when you really just mean itâs comfortable and makes you feel good
They dont know what empowerment means. And theyâre acting like theyâre smart lmao.
When people have never read even one radical feminist text but think theyâre experts on the theory based on what someone said on tumblr.
Yeah, sorry, I donât care about the fact that some women only feel confident in a full face of makeup, feminine clothes, and high-heels.
I care about the fact that women are expected to put themselves through a lot of pain and discomfort to look good to the point that it damages them (especially their feet in heels). I care about how these expectations are forced upon young women and how conformity starts so early. I care about how badly it affects womenâs perception of themselves because weâre told to cover up so much of ourselves. I care about how women are taught to hate themselves and their bodies for being âunnaturalâ and âdisgustingâ for things that are perfectly natural/normal (eg: cellulite, having body fat, not having a at stomach, body hair). I care about how women are seen as unprofessional for not wearing makeup and how many people would discriminate against women for not wearing makeup, how many work places tell women that they need to wear makeup as part of their uniform because itâs âprofessionalâ for women but there are zero expectations for men. I care about how many women are forced (either from a uniform policy or shamed into it) to wear heels to their jobs in the name of professionalism. I care about the fact that women are taught to hate their body hair and hence forced to shave from a young age, how many people are disgusted by female body hair and tell women that they should shave it because itâs not natural for a woman.
You will not and never will be empowered for conforming to patriarchal standards. You can like it and enjoy it all you wish, but stop pretending that your makeup is patriarchy fighting and youâre doing something other than conforming directly to patriarchal standards. Telling yourself that you will because you like it and you feel more confident that way is just something women tell themselves to prevent them from actually questioning why they may feel this way or doing work to unravel how their female socialisation has affected them. You have been socialised to feel this way and do exactly that and youâre only lying to yourself by pretending that itâs simply something you happen to like and want to do. Refusing to even question why these systems are in place, why makeup is enforced upon women, why women specifically seem to think that shaving it just âbetterâ than body hair is ignoring the systematic misogyny which women experience and itâs exactly what men want.
Telling yourself that feeling confident because youâre doing exactly what the patriarchy wants from you means that youâre ignoring what would actually give women power: education, control of their own bodies, financial literacy and independence, positions of authority, and so much more.
Nonspecific "people."
Some studies find rape victims who blame themselves actually have better mental health outcomes because this belief 1) upholds the just world hypothesis and 2) protects their sense of agency and control in their lives
radfems reblog this if itâs okay to inbox you for a casual chat sometimes. I need more friends on here, Iâve had a radfem blog for like 6 months but havenât made any acquaintances really

I know this isnât a revolutionary take or anything but itâs sad and honestly horrifying how social media has turned activism into a competition of who is the most morally pure person rather than it being about creating genuine, positive change for society as a whole
lets just replace the word âgenderâ with âsexist stereotypeâ
sexist-stereotype nonconformity. sexist stereotype identity. sexist stereotype critical. sexist stereotype binary. sexist stereotype validation. sexist stereotype diversity. sexist stereotype fluidity. sexist stereotype dysphoria
gay people are just whoever is attracted to the same sexist stereotype as them. bisexuals are attracted to more than one sexist stereotype. straight people are attracted to other sexist stereotypes, but not their own. orientation is based on sexist stereotypes, not genitals, silly!
this is really how TRAs sound all the time
sports should be divided based on sexist stereotypes, bathrooms should be based on sexist stereotypes, scholarships should be given based on sexist stereotypes. no one should ever be excluded from opportunities given to the sexist stereotype they identify as! if you see someone and canât tell what stereotype they are, ask them! criticizing sexist stereotypes LITERALLY kills the people that base their entire lives on sexist stereotypes!
not to be cheesy but i am so grateful for finding radical feminism because womanhood/girlhood has been so tumultuous, confusing, complicated, and interesting for me and it was hell not being able to talk about it in tra/libfem circles. even the simple act of saying âgrowing up a girl was traumatizing due to being cat called at a young age, being treated differently than boys, and experiencing female pubertyâ was met with extreme pushback and accusations of being transmisogynistic. i love talking about femaleness and womanhood and i am not sorry about it
the irony of purporting to maintain an âinclusive spaceâ and having the trans chevron pride flag hanging up is that it tells me itâs more likely Iâm not welcome as an actual homosexual
Hilarity

like everyone only cares about the theoretical woman who loves performing sex work and has complete control over that work and can quit anytime without it affecting her ability to survive. and this outlier hypothetical woman takes precedence over the actual overwhelming statistical reality that most women and children in the industry are quite literally sex slaves. thatâs insane to me that if 1% of sex workers love their job, that nullifies the 99% who have no other choice, are trafficked, at the mercy of a pimp, go into sex work as a minor whether by choice or by force, donât have control over what johns do to them or how many johns they have to have sexual intercourse with each day, etc etc. itâs like ok ... I guess their lives donât matter as much? thatâs effectively what ppl communicate when they make this pro-prostitution or pro-p*rnography argument
and anyone who claims to be a leftist or communist knows, or should know bc itâs part of the foundation of the ideology, that ALL work under capitalism is exploitation. so âsex work is workâ is a stupid mantra to use in support of prostitution because âworkâ itself is exploitative ... ur really saying âsex work is exploitationâ...
It bothers me when TRAs try to compare women with conditions like PCOS to men in order to further their âtranswomen are womenâ thing. Women who grow hair on their chests/bellies/faces are not men. Women with irregular or absent periods are not men. Our conditions are not meant to validate men, they are something we struggle with that has an actual impact on our lives and the fact some people try to make it about men is so narcissistic and disgusting.

Weird, do they not think trans women are women who are at risk for being killed? What kind of terf covered up that information?

GOD LITERALLY in the early 2000s ppl were so self conscious about their fat asses literally everyone just wanted to have no butt and literally 10 yrs later if u have a flat ass you might as well wear a paper bag over your whole fucking body and it well & truly sucks that womens bodies go in and out of fashion like this like tf are we supposed to do? spend all our time obsessing over the minutiae of our physiques? get plastic surgery every 5-10 yrs to make sure our bodies can keep up & b warped with the trends of objectification? like what the fuck do you want from women ?Â
this is more or less how it actually happened
Why is wanting face and leg shaving a sign of âreally being a womanâ and not a sign of being âa man who wants to look this wayâ likeâŚ? My legs are hairy. Some women (who are female) have beards of different strength. Yes the beard one is a secondary sex characteristic â unlike having leg hair which is 100% the normal state of just about every woman â but itâs secondary, not primary.
Anyway if your sex is male, no feeling, no depersonalization or other delusion or identity crisis, no body mod, no clothes, no hairstyle, no facial hair or body hair preference, makes you a woman. Gnc men â you are not women. You are welcome to exist with shaven legs and skirt that goes spinny and whatever you want. You are not welcome to claim woman is an âgender identityâ â what amounts to a style preference for about 90% of it, as illustrated here, and is always sexist whatever it is â and not a material state of being an adult female Homo sapien. Or rather, believe and claim away, but donât demand we share your faith system or delusional mind state (itâs ok and not shameful to have delusions â please donât misinterpret me. It is not ok to want to make it illegal or socially impossible to question them).
Gender is a product and tool of a sexist homophobic culture. Nothing more, nothing less. Abolish it.
A man finds oppressive female beauty standards arousing, THIS MEANS IâM A WOMAN!
No, it means youâve seen too much porn and you think women are naturally hairless like dolphins because your brain has rotted away. And yeah, smooth skin feels nice sometimes, but has JACK-ALL to do with being female.
A very sincere fuck you to op.
