A while ago I saw a someone say something about Leona being mischaracterized which I agree with so I go to check the comments under the video only for me to find someone saying āin cloud calling on Savanna event Leona didnāt invite them so he could not train the soldiers but rather he just wanted his friends to have funšā idk how I didnāt burst out laughing.
Look Iām all about Leona being Mischaracterized but that doesnāt mean he is a cinnamon roll. Leona does care about his friends like ruggie and jack even tho heād never call them his friends out loud. But during his event he was more focused on the fact that he wanted to win the competition and not because he didnāt want to train them but rather due to not wanting to be at home. Itās no secret that Leona wants to be king but canāt; and in the game ,while subtle, Leona is hinted to be depressed. Because he canāt either achieve his dream of being king or be number one in the thing he does best which is spell drive because of diasomina aka malleus. And when youāre depressed or hurt you usually avoid things that hurt you more or remind you of what hurts you and in leonaās case itās his home, because he has constantly remind that he will always be second place to his own brother and There is nothing he can do about it.
In conclusion, Leona does care about his classmates and friends even the ones he isnāt close to like vil but during the event he was more concerned about his goal hence at the end of the event Leona ends up leaving jack and yuu (+ grim). I understand that Leona being depressed is extremely subtle and easy to miss, which I donāt blame on most people since
1. This game is still a part of Disney, meaning there was a limit to how much darkness they can show. (While I donāt support Yana I do believe if Disney was more lenient and wasnāt so strict the game wouldāve took a darker tone as in black butler but thatās another conversation for another time)
2. Internet literacy or media literacy is literally dying. And by that Iām trying to say that some information cannot be fed straight into the viewer on the silver platter, because it ruins the quality of the show/series.

Crowley was in the woods. It was supposed to be a fun camping trip. All the staff members gathered together, happy and healthy. Nobody showed up for him. Why would they? Why show up for such a pathetic slab of goop like him? It doesn't matter. Not when there's a knife placed against his throat. Not when he starts running with the minor cut on his Adam's apple only to fall like a little bitch on the ground. Trying to pick himself up and run, and run he does. But the further he runs, the longer his punishment will be. He falls again. He gets back up, panting heavily. He makes it to a road sign on a highway. He sees a car he could hijack, but decides to hijack a train instead.
Ā As he gets on a train cart, he buries himself in hay and decides to stay in there until he can get help. He pulls out his phone and calls the prefect. No answer. He calls crewel. No answer. He calls trien. No answer. He calls vargas. No answer. He calls Sam. No answer. He calls the prefect once, twice, thrice, four times??? Nobody will answer his calls. He wails, crying out in fear and distress. He cannot cast a spell, for he is too busy hyperventilating to do any incantations. Thoughts too scattered. He sees somewhere he recognizes!! He can finally go home!! But no, no, no. He blacks out as he is hit with hard metal. He should have hijacked the car,huh?
When he awakens, there are centipedes crawling in his ears. There are caterpillars between his toes and millipedes in his nostrils. He tries to stream, but the bundle of porcupine spikes gagging the back of his throat limit him. He vomits on the gag, only for his uvula to start bleeding. He tries to cough it up but that just won't work. A machine cuts the tips of his fingers off and then starts punching him over and over and over again. But itās not enough. His mask is taken off. A 12 inch metal straw lines up with his eye, and thenā¦SHHK!!! It stabs straight through his eye. It starts pulling out, and then going back in.Ā
It continues this motion for eternity, meanwhile the machine removes the gag and swifty cuts Crowley's tongue off. It removes his hat and cuts a hole into his head. Two little sticks from the machine start stirring his brain. His ears get cut off with a sickening āshhkkā sound. The eye machine switches to the other eye as the machine breaks his legs. You would think the machine would stop the leg shattering the first break of the leg bone, but oh nono. It continued until his legs were broken way beyond repair.Ā
The blades on the machine carved little discs into crowley's forearms. He couldn't cry out, but couldn't stay calm. Not in this situation. The machine keeps punching him. It keeps slamming 9,768 pounds onto his legs. It keeps stirring his brain. The machine reveals a powerwasher. Only instead of water, it is a hoard of tiny, yet sharp glass shards. It flows into his bloodstream using his cuts and severed fingertips as the gateways.Ā
The machine makes an incision along his torso. It takes out his ribs, his long intestine, his small intestine, his bones, his lungs and eventually his heart.
Nobody knows who did it, or how they managed to do it. All they knew was that this was torture.
this isn't something ive seen talked about much before in this fandom but guys. PLEASE you gotta treat the family members of the twst characters with more nuance too please im BEGGING
you can like eric venue and still find it extremely questionable how he exposed vil to celebrity life at such a young age, something that was ultimately the foundation for his most prominent internalized struggles currently (feeling inferior to people like neige, being placed on a pedestal and treated as beyond reach just for the way he presents himself, etc) AND led to him constantly feeling unsecured, insecure, and made him become the target of harassment so young just for playing villain roles
you can find people like maleficia interesting and still criticize the way she treats malleus (especially in book 8, where she literally told him he has to cover up his missing horn because keeping it uncovered and showing off the missing part would be a dishonor to the familyšlike WHAT im pretty sure the entire world saw the horn get chopped off already anyway dude)
even extending this to lilia. i wanna preface this by saying i ADORE lilia, he's worked through tremendous amounts of loss, hardship and trauma and genuinely loves his son SO much. but you guys also can't be acting like he's perfect either. there's several times where lilia is described acting in ways that could (AND HAS) seriously endangered and affected silver, both physically and emotionally/mentally, even without intending to.
etc etc. this discussion is something that could be said for a quite large amount of the mentioned twst relatives (rook's parents are a MAJOR example that come to mind too, im actually gonna save them for a later separate post)
not saying that any of these characters are specifically bad or poor intentioned people at all!! but we really do have to consider the bigger picture when discussing them and their respective relationships with their children and/or relatives, they're NOT perfect and their actions shouldn't be glorified or glossed over at all

At the first episode of twst anime spoilers if you havenāt watched it yet after we see a glimpse of yuuās life the next scene shows this in yuuās surroundings while being on the streets
Now I know many people will say that the anime isnāt the most accurate and ect but personally I think if this scene wasnāt important then they wouldnāt have wasted theyāre already tight budget on this scene plus what I find really interesting in this scene is that all the animals in these photos have something similar to Crowley the same obnoxious yellow eyes. What Iām trying to say is that yuu coming to twisted wonderland was not an accident. If you still think this isnāt accurate or off I have more proof in the first trailer of the game we see this
In the trailer it shows Crowley surrounded by mirrors with the dorm logos on fire then he enters a mirror in the middle which is followed up by a scene of a crow/raven flying (I canāt tell what bird is that I can barely see it š) plus in the beginning of the game we hear Crowleyās voice saying some sort of chant: āAh, my dear esteemed benefactorā¦

Honestly, I donāt think we can make it more obvious than this especially knowing what type of writer Yana is like I said before. Itās already very obvious from the beginning that yuu coming to this world is not a mistake or accident it was planned from the very beginning now many can argue that yuu barely does anything throughout the series but then again that applies only to game yuu because they donāt know or have a bigger budget for us to build our own character throughout the game giving the ingame yuu a very neutral stance especially since yuu is meant to represent us the player. However, while the ingame yuu barely does anything they do however show us certain ways we do affect the game while being extremely neutral for example: helping or trying to convince the adeuce duo to cooperate, when we accidentally step on Leonaās tail beginning of the game which causes Leona and others to duel in a spell drive game, also letās keep in mind that in book 2 we are the ones who figured what was ruggie doing because of the trick he played on grim to take the grilled cheese sandwich, in book 3 where we orchestrated the plan to take over azul and steal the photo, in book 4 when Jamil try to use us as a pawn in his plan to expel kalim from nrc but instead weāre the ones who dragged octivelle into the plan to expose Jamilās intention, and ect the list goes on my point is our mere existence causes a chain of events throughout the game/ series whether we intentionally do it or not causing a change in fate. Keep in mind life is like a game of Dominoes one wrong move and the rest of the chips fall as the 3rd law of Newton states āevery action has an equal and opposite reactionā meaning that yuu/us ingame causes more than we think. Personally I believe we are really close to reaching the end game of twst because of that I believe they started to hint for the end game in events, this was pointed out by @mika-lol. When Idia said that you shouldnāt trust the the summoner when your iskeied (sorry for late post I forgot this in my drafts and also sorry if itās messy I like to empty all my thoughts with out organizing at most add every once a while)
okay honestly, one of azul's good traits is his consistency and i think that's really ignored because consistency is such a hard characteristic and requires good discipline. not only when it comes to maintaining his body but also to his academics and workflow??? him, riddle, and vil are the very examples of consistency can take you beyond improvement and i think that's an excellent trait to possess

when people talk about twst lore, people tend to ignore the writing style twst is written in. it may not be necessary much but in my opinion it plays an important role. DISCLAIMER I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT YANA CONTROVERSY IM JUST SAYING SOMETHING I REALISED.
what makes yana's works so good is that they know how to give the reader or player the information without shoving it down our throats. A while ago I was watching a video talking about a poorly written webtoon, one of the things she quoted that made the story annoying when reading is the constant and unnecessary repetition of information that is being shoved down the reader's throat. Now a person could argue that it's not a necessarily a bad thing, however, it does degrade the quality of the writing by removing the sense of mystery in story. its true that some authors do add a plot twist either way which tends to divide the fans some hyping it, while others question it making the story confusing. now what makes twst and black butler have that makes the story interesting is that the author tends to avoid this mistake.
In other works of yana aka black butler MANGA SPOILERS when it was revealed that ciel isn't actually the real ciel but rather his timid twin brother it wasn't entirely unexpected. Through out the story it is hinted that ciel has a twin brother.
twst now follows a similar path, both black butler and twst is one of these games that needs the reader/player to think. Book 7 spoilers During the middle of book 7 after Liliaās backstory (the war and how silver is the enemyās son) revealed many were shocked but others had questions. For example, what position of power do the darconias hold? Is malleus aware of the fact that the senator did this to Lilia? How will malleus react to this information? What does silver think of his parents? Ect.. later as the overblot card of malleus and silverās knight of dawn was revealed and book 7 came to an end our questions were answered. (Spoilers for the cards) malleus says that āhe will deal with the senator for what he did to Liliaā proving he had no idea, while silver on the other hand says he has two fathers and heās somewhat satisfied with this. My point is that throughout the game it is constantly hinting to rather than saying it out aloud like even the little things like why Vil despises mayonnaise so much ect. Now that I set the stage for the fact that the entire game is constantly hinting at us. I will be talking about the gameās most unknown, obnoxious, and horrendous character in game Crowley. Now everything in game, manga, novel and anime wise is suspicious constantly pointing towards the fact he somewhat expected us. (This is getting too long for my liking tbh I write part 2 soon forgive me I got tired)
Since book 7 ended book 7.5 started, it is showing us the aftermath of malleus overblot from where we stopped and since it got released, everyone has been talking about it. I personally wasnāt gonna talk about it until I it gets released, to en players cause Iām not jp player, but honestly I had get that off my chest either way if I say something incorrect about this chapter Iām sorry I only read the rough translation. Book 7&7.5 spoilers: I saw someone on TikTok, I donāt remember who but they said āthe consequence of malleus overblot isnāt realistic or rather he didnāt face the consequences of his actionsā. While I understand where this is coming from I think he already faced the consequences of this actions for three reasons.
1.The first being that he lost his control over his magic aka losing his horn. Yes I know that it will grow in 200 years but, itās a great deal for malleus think about it heās very reliant on his magic in fact his entire future relies on his magic, he canāt inherit the throne without both of his horns intact on his head. I can also see this in his overblot cardās groovey because his crown isnāt on his head itās on his horns which is indication his position as prince relies on his powers.
2. The second reason I believe heās already faced the consequences, is that malleus just like his grandmother said āhe disgraced himselfā in other words he ruined his image as a prince. While itās true that the sage island forgave him that doesnāt mean things will return to normal like how they used to and we can see that because heās no longer in his own dorm but is staying with us at the ramshackle. Plus letās keep in mind we still arenāt aware of how the briar valley citizens think about this and as a prince of this land their opinion matters greatly.
3. Last but not least and in my opinion the worst, is that nothing he wanted to achieve in his overblot succeeded. Now it may sound controversial but think about it for a second despite everything he did malleus is still gonna lose Lilia, silver, and sebek in fact if you think about it youād realize the main reason he even overbloted in the first place is because of them he doesnāt want to lose any of them especially Lila aka his father and friend. So the fact that heās gonna lose them either way is already bad enough punishment for him.
While itās true that it may sound a bit unrealistic everyone forgave malleus and allowed him to return including the parents and nrc, letās keep in mind nrc students are prideful and competitive because of that they are willing to go very far to prove their point and we have seen this with other overblot characters who defended themselves trying to prove their right until they overblot. As for the parents while it may be a surprise I canāt say itās unexpected if you sorta think about it makes sense like how Georgina aka leeches mom was cool with malleus coming to the event which shows they donāt really mind him that much. The only parent I could imagine disagreeing to this would be Mrs rosehearts and my only explanation for her ever agreeing or going along with this is either 1. She disagreed but everyone else agreed and since everyone is ok with the situation they went with the majority or 2. Ever since her talk with riddle in book 4 during the winter break sheās been more lenient on riddle but other than that I can think of any other explanation for her agreeing.

"Dire Crowley is secretly Malleus' kooky uncle on his dad's side who fell completely off the map shortly before the human fae war broke out and everyone kinda forgot about him/assumed he was dead when in actuality he was just like three kingdoms over doing tax fraud" Inspiring. Perfection. True in my heart until canon proves otherwise.
Something I realized throughout playing twst is despite the housewardens being almost like the villains in the Disney movie there is still a contrast between them unlike in the movie. For example, in Book 1 the students defy or rather against riddleās ruling or command which is a contrast between the queen of hearts and how everyone follows her order blindly in the movie. And unlike the queen of hearts riddle he was following the rules not giving command and unlike the queen of hearts he wasnāt exactly pleased by the rules which we learn after or post overblot when he sops saying heās sorry and that he doesnāt like the rules either like how he prefers honey over sugar in his tea, which again is a contrast between the Queen of hearts who loved and put the rules in the first place. We also see this in his birthday card, unlike queen of hearts who is self centered and expects everyone to care about her, riddle was surprised to see that the students made such a grand party for him he also says itās his first time having such a large party which is a contrast to the queen of hearts who is shown to be prioritized. (I wanted to add more but I barely have any riddle cards and he doesnāt come home when I pull)
In Book 2, Leona is shown that he isnāt as pride or as self centered as scar. Unlike scar who wouldāve either pulled another nasty trick or would have acted remorseful so he can get away with no consequences, Leona actually takes the the punishment at first begrudgingly, infact if it hadnāt for the fact that his classmates telling him not to give up and try to do anything, only then did he actually overblot under the guise of extreme stress. which is a contrast to scarās prideful behavior. And later in Leonaās focus event we also learn that he cares about the people and not just the throne by how he fights with felena (I donāt remember his brotherās name) on how he rules and how he believes they should use more modern ways to rule rather than sticking to culture and traditional ways. unlike scar who only cared about the throne. Thereās also a contrast between Leona and how feels towards Cheka, and how scar feels towards Semba. Scar hates Semba and this is shown in the movie when he readily tried killing Semba unlike Leona which was shown in his birthday card he said he found him annoying but didnāt say anything about hating and even at the end of book 2 we Leona play along with him until someone came searching for Cheka.
