Hi! I’m Chips, I’m a bi trans guy, my pronouns are he/him, and I mostly just reblog memes and fanart here. This blog is like 5 years old and I’m only just bothering to make an intro post. I’m usually multifandom but if a particular fandom takes my brain hostage it could seem like all I interact with for a while.

I’m an adult (only been one for a short while so I’m still not very good at it yet), idc about minors following/interacting but please be aware I reblog suggestive/NSFW jokes sometimes (I don’t reblog explicit writing or imagery tho). I try to remember to tag these so please block the tag #nsft if you’re uncomfortable with that, and I also try to remember to tag most common triggers with “#[trigger] tw” or “#[trigger] warning” (i.e. blood, eyestrain, slurs, etc), but I’m not infallible and I forget to tag things sometimes.

Sonic the Hedgehog (the brainrot is severe, these technicolour animals have had me in a chokehold for months). I’m mostly the mainline universe (the games and IDW comics), though I’m also a fan of the live-action movies and the Sonic Boom TV show. Shadow is the Ultimate Blorbo, he can do no wrong (except all those times he did but no he didn’t ❤️)
The Invincible TV show (haven’t read the comics yet, unsure if I’ll read past where the show’s adapted up to until season 4’s out). My fav character is Rex but I’m also partial to Amber and I love Rudy in a “I want to stuff him in a Pringle can and throw it down a set of stairs” kind of way
Monster Prom. My fav love interests in Prom, Camp, and Con are Vera, Aaravi, and Omen respectively; make whatever assumptions you will about me based on that
I’m not actively into Pokémon, Spider-Man, or Invader Zim rn but they’re always sort of lying dormant in the back of my head, waiting to be reawakened and occasionally possessing me to trawl the tags

I need a noncomprehensive history book that covers Known World History in time periods, like “in this century, all this shit was happening concurrently” and not just all spread out so I have to piece it together like some unpaid uneducated scholar
I grew up with this book, which is frickin’ enormous, and it was endlessly fascinating to young me to pour over the side by side comparison of events taking place concurrently under different headings and in different parts of the world.

isn't it insane though how schizophrenic people are viewed as violent and dangerous by the majority of society when in reality schizophrenic people are nearly 14 times more likely to be on the receiving end of violence than to be the perpetrators...
1) schizophrenia hardly ever causes people to be violent so schizophrenic people aren’t more likely to be violent than anyone else
2) schizophrenic people’s autonomy is often taken away from them because of their schizophrenia. because the authorities and mental healthcare providers often automatically assume schizophrenic people to be violent, they’re more likely to immediately react to schizophrenic people's symptoms with violence, without even knowing for sure said schizophrenic person was going to be violent. all of this causes schizophrenic people to be more likely of being victims of violence and abuse. schizophrenic people also have a harder time getting out of abusive households because of the risk of their autonomy being taken away. if a schizophrenic person’s relative or partner is abusive, often the schizophrenic person has no way out of the situation, both because our disconnect from reality can result in us being easier to manipulate, and because the system is built in a way that it takes away our autonomy because of our condition.
also schizophrenic people and psychotic people in general, please do a lot of research before picking a provider for your own sake, and if they try to treat your psychosis in a way that you think is harmful then don’t hesitate to switch providers. your safety and wellbeing should be a priority over everything else.

Just Some Advice for Anyone Who is Close to Someone Who Self-Harms...
1.) Not everyone who self-harms is doing it out of self-loathing or is suicidal.
Yes, a lot of times self-harming can occur as a result of self hatred or the desire to end one's own life, but in just as many cases, it can be done out of anxiety, a PTSD flashback or even anger. Some people don't even remember the incident itself when they self harm. Doing so is traumatic. If someone seems confused or disoriented after a self-harming session, they definitely are, and they should be handled with patience and care.
2.) Don't blame or accuse them; they already feel guilty enough for doing it.
Genuine self-harm sparks many emotions, and a huge one is guilt. This guilt isn't the kind of guilt you might have for knocking over a cookie jar. This is straight up shame. SHers feel this shame because they are thinking of the people they care about. Unless a person is threatening to self harm or is blaming you for their self harm, they're not doing it for attention, manipulation or abuse. If the person is opening up about self harming after the incident, is scared of doing so BEFORE the incident, or you catch them in the act, all blaming or accusing them will do is make them feel worse. In making them feel worse, the likelihood of them doing it again increases, and they might do it for a WORSE reason than the previous attempt.
3.) DON'T FREAK OUT
Whether the SH is a release of nerves or a suicide attempt, remain as calm as possible while helping them out of it. Most of the time, if you catch the person in the act, they will stop. The shock from someone walking in is pretty much guaranteed to stop them for at LEAST a few hours. If you don't feel safe leaving them alone after catching them, stay and talk them through it. It shows them that you care, and if you can manage it, may distract them from how they initially felt enough that they'll at least stop for the night.
