This is purely angst (TW suicide)

The little AU I worked up for this was titled “in the shade of the tree”

They made the Honmoon golden. They did it. But she wasn’t fixed. The patterns… they weren’t gone.

She’d tried so hard and she was still broken? It wasn’t enough. It was never enough.

Zoey and Mira were so happy, the honmoon was finally sealed, they could finally rest, maybe Rumi would finally open up.

And all Rumi could think about was how in the end it hadn’t meant anything.

How there was still one more demon to defeat

The sun set softly, the light fading as they all said their goodnights.

And once the house was quiet Rumi crept out into the night

Weeping as she knelt to ‘fix’ it.

As Mira and Zoey jolted awake to an empty bed and a hole in their chests

The frantic rush of footsteps, shouts of “Rumi?! RUMI?!”

And the sudden silence as they find her

I wrote a poem and it felt very Rumira coded so that’s this (TW the poem refers to a misstreated dog continuously seeking love. (Additional notes, please read this from Rumi’s perspective, likely shortly after meeting Mira and learning of her leaving her family (mira being the cat, Celine being the human) That wasn’t the intent when it was written but I feel it fits so it is now)

Not a cat

Oh but I am not a cat

No a cat has some self respect

They don’t let you treat them like that

No, more like a beaten hound am I

For by your feet I cower still

No a cat has the strength to leave

But a dog whines and hopes it’s different this time

Even as they flinch and hide

It matters not that they know

That love from you is always a cudgel

By your heel they still huddle

No im not a cat escaping from that
