The quilt was collectively created by 64 artists from around the world and shipped to New York City.

They're demanding the met museum:

(1) cut ties with board members profiting from Israeli bombardment + occupation of Palestine

(2) support an immediate + permanent ceasefire

(3) aid the preservation of Palestinian cultural heritage sites being destroyed by Israel

In addition to the quilt, demonstrators reclaimed and redistributed Met flyers, stickered with movement messaging and demands.

that last sentence is so powerful considering everything that's going on

including recent events in which french senators are currently trying to pass a bill to criminalize critiqueing the state of israel/ speaking up against zionism: "those who insult the state of israel would face two years imprisonment and a fine of EUR 75,000 "

imagine making it illegal to speak up against a state that has bombed civilians with white phosphorus

imagine making it illegal to speak up against a state that is carrying out collective punishment against the entire population in Gaza, as we speak

not only does it have a black male lead (Corey Hawkins) who is both a compelling and well rounded character who you truly root for

But also

the movie wasn’t afraid to make Dracula absolutely terrifying like in the novel (it seems like they even took inspiration from older films like nosferatu)

overall the film played a great homage to the original Bram Stoker novel while also modernizing the horror of Dracula and vampires

dont you think its weird. dont you think its weird that the space race last time was two of the biggest powers in the world. and now its a handful of rich men. dont you think its weird they can afford that. dont you think its bad that rich men can afford the same things as the government.

dont you think its weird that while the world is suffering and poverty is everywhere, where there's wars and climate change and human pain and homelessness. the same month I've watched people die on the news from unbearable heat and unprecedented flooding. that a rich handful of men are going to space, causing more carbon emissions. dont you think its weird that instead of putting their vast amount of money to use for good they're using it to find a way off the planet theyre destroying.
