itâs been zero (0) days since his last confession now
I love watching Fourth act, his acting is so layered. Gem is good too but Fourth is levels above- he has a tendency to express emotion in a way that makes me feel like time has been suspended, like I feel whatever he emotes so keenly itâs almost overwhelming, I just adore him so much because itâs a such a gift to be able to infuse so much interiority into your characters, I know this is probably the end of GemFourth but I hope he continues to get roles that allow him to flex his abilities.
Love to hear the love for Gem and Fourth on my blog but why the need to compare like acting is a worst-better-best situation? I, too, love Fourthâs ability to convey angst-ridden interiority, and has any gmmtv camera lens ever been so enraptured with a face as PâRathâs is with Fourthâs in this show? But thereâs no need to shirk at what Gemini is doing here or what heâs already proven himself capable of to celebrate Fourthâs performance.
Gemini has a rare expressivity to his face that he seems in total control of. Where Fourth goes inward, Geminiâs acting reaches out. Heâs such a present scene partner, so in the moment, and you can see him giving every ounce of attention to others in his performances while playing distinctly different characters. Heâs obviously lending this warm extroversion to Barth, which creates such an interesting contrast with the reputation of rebel Barth has. It immediately casts doubt on how trustworthy that interpretation and the people who promote it are, but Gem still brings enough edge to the character. Gemâs ability to shine his light in a performance here is really what makes the drawing out of Tanrak and his struggle so compelling to me.
And letâs not forget Gemâs other performances. Heart was the first one I saw, and I literally had to look up whether the actor was actually deaf or not because it was so convincing to meâand thatâs coming from someone who has family who are sign language interpreters! And it didnât just stop at the deafness. That character was one hundred percent embodied, in such utter loneliness and so sweetly smitten once the time came. And then Tinn is one of my absolute favorite good boys. He was silly and fruity and surprisingly smooth. Watch how Gemini plays the scene where Gun reveals the story about his dadâs death to see a masterclass on reactive acting, too. MSP also offers the glimmer of how strong Gemini can be with slapstick comedy, which hasnât been taken advantage of in series but has been a highlight of live performances, which, letâs remember, is the kind of show GeminiFourth are lined up for next! Idk where youâre getting the info that theyâre splitting up after this?
There are so many ways to talk about performance that are not a ranking of whoâs better. Yes, sometimes actors are, in fact, better at a skill than others. Iâd agree with you that Fourth is strong as that kind of psychological tortured state than Gemini has ever shown us, but that requires us to assess whether Geminiâs roles have ever called or benefited from that. Two angst-ridden teens is a lot, and not always the most compelling story. We already had two angry Catholic school boys in Your Name Engraved Herein. Iâm glad for a different spin on the story here, and Geminiâs emotional buoyancy and, not Fourthâs angst, but actually the gentleness to his repression are what are really drawing me in.
If you want to think about a different way to articulate actorsâ performances, I made my own system in a gmmtv tier list here. Or go have some fun making your own framework to think about it! Lol I know youâre popping into my ask box just to celebrate and I disagreed-ish and typed a lot of words, which might feel ranty, but I promise I get it and Iâm not mad. I say all this half-talking to the version myself who jumps to the âwho wore it bestâ mindset. Truly Iâm right here with you. Love Fourth. Love this show. Floored by his powerhouse acting. I just also love Gem and want to make sure heâs getting credit for the work that he makes seem so easy. Heâs often the softer counterweight to Fourthâs heaviness, but that doesnât make it less challenging to do as an actor or unimportant. A ton of steel weighs the same as a ton of feathers.
Also, I actually have no idea where the idea that Gem4th are splitting up came from? Hit me up in my DMâs if there are rumors, yâall cuz I havenât seen anything worthy of following.

saw a tiktok of a mother taking her very tiny daughter to an art museum and sheâs just walking around going âwhoooaâ âwoooaahâ to everything but then they got to a marble statue of a nude woman lying on her back and the girl points and goes âmommyđŤľâ and i just immediately welled up with tears and all the comments are just laughing about it and of course itâs funny but how are you not insanely moved by the way art connects everyone on earth from a centuries-old sculptor to a toddler in 2023

I kind of miss the impulsivity that certain spaces used to allow. oh you want a hair cut today? hairdresser in the corner can fit you in before her 2 oâclock. tattoo of a cobra⌠sure leg or arm? even concerts, back when you could go to the box office thirty mins before any show. not saying these things donât exist at all, but everything feels booked five months in advance and 10x more expensive

When we were children, my sister had private music lessons at her violin teacherâs house. I only visited there once, but I still remember that afternoon. The teacher had an artificial pond in her yard, a large beautiful thing with lily pads and plant life. And in the pond, there were goldfish. I had never seen such enormous goldfish.Â
I spent several minutes just staring at them (and trying to convince them to bite my fingers.) When my sisterâs violin lesson ended, her teacher came out to the yard and explained that these goldfish were the same small creatures that were often unfortunately sold in plastic bags at state fairs. They were only about two inches long apiece, when she bought them and put them in the new, empty pond. In essence, they were like every goldfish I had seen before, but they had been given a much larger, much richer environment in which to flourish. As a result, they had grown into some of the most remarkable, vibrant creatures my twelve-year-old self had ever met with. All because of a pond.Â
Funny what lessons children remember. My sister doesnât play the violin anymore, but that was the first time I caught a glimpse of the overwhelming extent to which it matters, the way the world treats us.
Reblogged again for this drawing I made for it
