Starting the American Ramayana dub clips drop with one of my favourites
Honestly go king tell Kumbhakarn he's short
The whole point of Mahabharata and the introduction of kaliyuga is that absolute pureness will not suffice. That to be good is to suffer. That if you keep taking what the world gives you, you will die empty-handed, everything you own taken away. That is the whole point of Bhagavat Geeta. To give what you're given, not to keep bending until your back breaks, NOT to keep suffering because that is the good thing, at the hands of someone who has done nothing for you. It is insane that this man who claims to be so clever and smart is so, SO willing to become literally stupid just because it's the Good thing to do. It is unfathomable to me. This is pure stupidity no matter from what way you look at it. There are all sorts of religious shows to tel these idiots that you MUST take back what you're owed. It's literally YOUR right. It is literally what you are SUPPOSED to do. When you keep giving what you have rightfully earned out of the labour of your blood sweat and tears, you are not doing it for the goodness. It's going nowhere. God is laughing at you and is probably angry that you're wasting opportunities and resources and the blessings you were provided with for your benefit. Especially when you're not only responsible for just yourself but for people in your family as well. Especially when you're already so so close to suffering that you need all the extra resources you can to make sure you don't suffer. The whole point of Krishna is to accept the impure within you, to fight for your own self. Rama is become so relevant these days because people here are braindeads. This is not the satyuga, the moralities of that times will have you beaten down bleading on the ground. This is kaliyuga, in order to preserve yourself you need to weaponise cunning to save yourself. That's how it is supposed to be. You sit down and take and you keep on taking from every single person that comes across you. You think this is patience? To be unreasonably lenient to strangers and so hard on your family? Your wife and daughter? You think yourself so smart but you are so obviously stupid I laughed at your face because of it. You are hell bent on wasting away everything you are in the name of a false ideal that will not only leave you nowhere but will also drive you mad and who will take the brunt of it? Your wife. Your daughter. Because man is a coward who is so so scared of another man be it his own son. He will scream and shout and the littlest faults of his wife and daughter but not the son, he gets to be a no-gooder, he gets to be free with it in the name of I-dont-care-let-him-do-what-he-wants-hes-a-no-gooder-anyways. Not your mother or sister because they are women and you must service them because it is good and noble but your wife and daughter are not women who deserve the same treatment, no, you can blame them for the stress you've acquired by your own stupidness and claim to be all high and mighty. This man needs to open his eyes or I swear to god I will lose all respect.
having institutional access never stops feeling sort of crazy to me because you can literally type in any country and time period and find at least a handful of peer reviewed articles somewhere that discuss a specific aspect of people's lives in depth and at length like "what was considered pop culture in late imperial russia" or "how did the textile trade work in northern mali in the 1600s" or "children's toys in pre-colonial philippines" and it's just sitting there but the majority of people on planet earth aren't allowed to read any of it

"queer-owned business" means nothing anymore. OpenAI and Palantir are both queer-owned businesses.
if this is how you find out that both sam altman and peter thiel are gay im sorry
keep thinking about how I wrote in my dissertation about how every time a new form of public/social space emerges it's immediately popular with kids and teenagers who see it as a chance at freedom and then adults colonise it and kick them out. this happened with malls in the 80s and diners in the 50s and pool halls in the 20s. my dad was doing research on this trend in like 1975. and I was like "yeah so this is going to happen to the internet" and then five years later every government suddenly decided to ban kids from everywhere online. I hate being right especially when I don't even get paid for it

east of eden moments that I think about
alice defending charles to adam by telling him that charles, despite his rough edges, secretly leaves her gifts and has been doing so for years (in actuality, adam was the one leaving gifts)
how there was all that money in cathy's locker, but still she'd kept the wedding certificate after all this time
lee telling abra he wished she was her daughter
"I think I love you, cal" "I'm not good" "because you're not good"
samuel hamilton. everything about him; his stories, his dreams, the way his land has no water but he has a gift for finding water on other people's land, the way his inventions and ideas just result in him getting scammed and then losing money trying to patent it. the brilliant irony of having a man so brilliant and likable yet poor in every regard except the most important one: love, because still, everyone (except cathy) loves him so much
dessie. ugh her being an iconic businesswoman is so important to me, and how due to grief, she loses the business. her brother being there for her and actually both of them living together and being there for one another
adam basically telling cal he doesn't like or appreciate his gift and saying that aron's gift was better (aron trask when I catch you...)
adam's last word: "timshel!"
cathy shooting adam on the arm and leaving (diversity win honestly we need more deadbeat moms)
I dislike the current attitude from a large section of the bridgerton fandom that basically boils down to thinking that Sophie deserves better...
Not in the sense that she deserves to be treated better as a woman (totally valid, if unrealistic for the time period) in general, but that she "deserves better" than being propositioned without a marriage proposal purely because she's secretly the daughter of an Earl.
It is fine for Benedict to have out-of-wedlock shenanigans with working class women, but because we - the audience - know that Sophie is Different and Special because of who fathered her she is somehow more worthy than those other women?
âThe ad was in a womenâs magazine and if I remember correctly, was for a perfume. It featured a white woman lying in bed with a black man. The manâs shirtless back was to the viewer, making only his taut, muscular form and powerful-looking arms and shoulders visible. He was faceless, unidentified. The woman looked sultrily at us from over his mysterious form, satisfaction writ large over her features. She had partaken of whatever delights this man had to offer and was smugly, luxuriantly basking in the afterglow. The ad copy was, âTake a walk on the wild side.â My teacher used the ad as an example of how marketers can use certain words and images to convey large amounts of information subtly and effectively. A white woman having sex with a black man? How risquĂŠ. The implication: be a little like that woman. Spray on that perfume and feel like the kind of girl who has sex with faceless, muscular black men in ritzy hotel rooms because itâs an adventure, a thrill, a risk, something illicitly pleasurable. These are the semiotics of race. This is why columnists will trip over themselves not to call Lupita Nyongâo or Angela Basset âbeautifulâ, choosing instead to use terms that call to mind a kind of savage, animalistic magnetism: fierce, striking, edgy, eye-catching. Words like âprettyâ and âbeautifulâ and âcuteâ are for white women whose bodies and sexualities are not seen as wild, animal, or untamed. Black men are hulking, threatening, thuggish; white men are charming, sexy heartthrobs with hearts of gold. Brown women are exotic, with their âhoney-colouredâ skin and their âmysticalâ, âenchantingâ beauty, unlike their white counterparts, who are held up as not only ideal, but knowable and safe. White people are beautiful; non-white people are dangerous.â

tags of truth and necessity : #isms on top of isms#language#always worth repeating#kids: when people talk about racism and microaggressions â as opposed to macroaggressions â on ao3#weâre often talking about things like this#where the softest & nerdiest & *weediest* Black men will somehow gain a wild and ominous ~power~#and every brown woman is a âgirlbossâ 24/7#and every white person is â understandably ofc! â at least a little intimidated by them
