But looking at those links you share, it feels like it might be a little more than just the older generation grumpily tearing into the younger generation. Is it really that disproportionate compared to what generational traits our parents chewed us out for?

If it's phrased more as "Attention spans are shrinking!!!!", that's a Kids These Days rant.

If it's about stupid educational fads leading to underprivileged kids disproportionately struggling with reading as adults in a way that keeps them powerless and less likely to oppose oligarch scum, that's a real pattern.

It's "TikTok automatically rots your brain for sure!!!" vs. "TikTok is programmed to be more addictive and more destructive to critical thinking than the things we put up with in my generation".

People aren't stupider now, but there are some challenges that lead to worse mental health and potentially worse critical thinking and reading skills. Insert rant about old-school internet vs. algorithms and the panopticon here.

So... like 70% Kids These Days, 30% shit is actually worse now.
