she comforts them on moonlight stones when the world feels so heavy and when they awake from nightmares about the tabby with the wild amber eyes and the long scar distinguishing his nose. she is there to watch their warrior vigil. she is there as the forest falls to pieces around them, she is there as ferncloud tries to wake up the corpse of her dead son in vain.

she is there for ashfur when the molly in the russet coat rejects his advances. he stays up late nights. she can see a tiredness in his eyes, and his belly grows thin. you will find love again, she says. 

he does not listen. but she stays beside him, because no cat should ever have to be ripped from their mother’s paws far too early.

she had heard of that riverclan boy before ashfur started talking with him. he had aided that windclan cat’s rebellion, right? only to turn on him? or maybe she had only heard that from a friend of a friend of that cat who sent a lightning bolt down so the rebellion would stop. she worries as she watches them discuss, vibrancy in their matching blue eyes that is too close to her murderer’s eyes for comfort, and she is horrified to see firestar topple in front of her as blood seeps from his neck. she does not pay attention to hawkfrost’s death as she pleads to her son to think, to remember how loved he was, to remember that squirrelflight didn’t belong to him now and that she never did.

she watches her son mentor lionpaw. she had always felt fondness for lionpaw- she knew of his birth parents, but she can not help but see her old friend goldenflower in that yellow coat. she brims with anger as she sees her son order around the boy too much, and she is close to wanting to smack him upside the chin when she sees a scratch on the apprentice. you wouldn’t have wanted this. he’s arrogant and bold- he reminds me of a kit we both know, she tries to tell him.

brindleface tries to warn her son. there’s a fire. leave thunderclan camp. you will be in danger. but his face is transfixed. he stumbles forward, as if he is caught in the eyes of a monster, his tail awkwardly angling to one side. he sees three figures leap through flame, and rushes inward. brindlefaces loses sight of him until she sees him confront that russet-furred molly, three children behind him.

she knows the look in their eyes before. the look of a child ripped from their mother’s paws too early.

she looks at ashfur and sees

to her horror

his eyes are suddenly

Smudge.

God I love Smudge. I don’t know why, I just do. So it broke my heart when Firestar just up and left his best friend to join a cult. I hated that moment when Smudge asked why, and Firestar was like, “I feel like it.”

So, I made an AU

In this one, the prophecy in changed and goes, “A fire will come to blaze the clans and be legend while a drizzle follows to ensure control.”I don’t really know Yet, but I have a solid idea.

And So, Smudge instead waits for Rusty to come back from his first trip to the forest

And because of this, he hears rusty and Greypaw fighting and in a rush of courage, he goes to help his friend. He gets between them and glares Greypaw  and yowls stop in an incredibly intimidating voice. His secret weapon. Always thought that that was why Rusty thought he was an attacker. Greypaw however, sees it as an attack, but Rusty is there to stop them before a real fight breaks out.

Then we get the same old clans explanation from Greypaw and Bluestar and Lionheart come and scold Greypaw. And then when Rusty is a dumbass and tries to justify his stealing prey, Smudge tells him to shut it because “we don’t know what it’s like out here.” So, Bluestar invites them and the next day they agree as long as they stick together. And so, the Longtail fight goes down and Smudge just goes ahead and clings to Longtail’s tail for dear life, until Rusty starts choking and in return, he jumps on Longtail’s back and tears at his scruff. It distracts Longtail enough so Rusty slips out of his collar and Longtail breaks Smudge’s. They earn their names,  Firepaw and Drizzlepaw,  and Drizzlepaw is given to Mousefur, as I feel he would need someone tough yet kind.  And then we get the cut to Redtail being dead. Smudge in horrified and immediately goes to help carry him to the doctor dungeon.

silverflame yelling some sense into her daughter and then brightflower finally accepting that her kits are dead and yellowfang forgiving her, letting her in.

after so many years, fallen leaves finally letting go and following hollyleaf up to starclan. she lets him in.

tallstar seeing jake just outside the border, unable to enter starclan territory. tallstar lets him in so they can happy together.

barley, not believing in starclan without seeing it with his own eyes, cannot enter until ravenpaw sees him and lets him.

firestar meets both smudge and princess again and welcomes them in with open arms.

russetfur finding tadpole and offering to let him in as another favour to sasha. sasha dies years later and her son lets her in.

this also means that if a dark forest cat has truly committed an unforgivable crime, they’ll be punished for it. 

snowfur refusing to forgive thistleclaw after everything he’s done. thistleclaw seeking out whitestorm but his son can’t either.

mapleshade’s kits unable to see their mother in her eyes anymore, not letting her in to keep the peace.

darkstripe wanting to see his mom again but willowpelt can’t ever forgive him.

I don't remember the name of the loners that used to hang out in windclan, but Tallstar letting them in as a apology.

Blackstar denying Sol a place in Starclan angrily, chasing him into the dark forest himself.

Sunstar having to convince the rest of Starclan to let Pine in after leaving the clans.

Ashfur originally was sent to the dark forest, but Yellowfang let him in, and no one else is happy about it.

Smoke trying to come to Starclan, but even in the afterlife, Onestar can't bare the idea of letting her in.

Leafpool goes looking for Cody once she hears that she dies and takes her in

This is how cats that dont believe in Starclan get in maybe.

Like, Brightheart will be waiting on Cloudtail by Starclans border for him with Swiftpaw

why were cats like Birchfall, Thornclaw and Mousewhisker training in the dark Forest?

I mean, it was established pretty clearly that 4 out of 5 cats training there had something that troubled them in real life, such as family issues or bullying, so why were those three toms training there?

I mean I know Dark Forest cats are master manipulators, but a warrior like Thornclaw REMEMBERS what Tigerstar was like so there’s no way he could be oblivious to any of that.

Idk I just think that learning about their motivations could make a decently interesting novella all together.

Like maybe Thornclaw felt that all his other siblings had accomplished “more” than he had by raising families and one becoming a medicine cat,

and Mousewhisker might have struggled with his identity because he wasn’t Clanborn

Maybe it's Birchfall feeling like he's just..forgotten by his parents. They had other kittens so quickly, and Birchfall always felt out of place. Forgotten.

Seeing how Spiderleg treated his children only reinforced disdain twords his parents, because he knew Spiderleg was acting like this because of their up bringing

Maybe he just wanted to be able to be there for his kids.

Maybe this promise of strength would let him keep the outside world from hurting his kits. Maybe he could continue to be there for them, and not make them feel forgotten.

Maybe he found out about Ivypool training in the dark forest and wanted to join to protect her.

Cats being like, yeah, Bramblestar, your shoulder scar is decent, but every warrior has gotten biffed over the shoulder before.

Dovewing has scars all over her arms from blocking blows to her delicate ears, so her ears are one of the few sets in the Clans lacking nicks or anything while her front arms and paws are missing fur and are otherwise ravaged. She gets a bunch of yowls and cheers as she proudly shows them off. Jayfeather’s side slash is pretty average, but he gets a bunch of support because he’s not a warrior.

The queen of scars in ThunderClan is, of course, Ivypool, who’s almost always got a new one to show off. Blossomfall is her hype warrior as she struts to the center of camp (”ooooooo ya’ll are you ready for the ‘pool I don’t think ya’ll are ready for the ‘pool”), glances around to make sure she’s got all eyes on her, then hup! she’s balancing precariously on her back paws, displaying a near-lethal belly scar. The Clan goes wild- pun intended.

Then, out of the elders den, comes Brightheart. She’s one of the few who doesn’t really get into these things, but today she goes up to Ivypool with pride, showing off the half of her face horrible destroyed by the dogs. “I think I win,” she meows, a bit shyly.

Ivypool over-dramatically falls onto her back, wiggling her legs. “Noooo! I’ve been defeated!!!”

(”She wasn’t ready for the ‘heart,” somebody whispers)
