“Sociology homework can kiss my ass.” Nico announced through the phone that was pressed to his ear. He kicked a dirty t-shirt that laid forgotten on the floor before settling on his lumpy bed. 

He could hear Will’s soft chuckle on the other side of the phone. He could imagine Will laying back in his bed with his arms behind his head as he rested his phone beside him. Will would have his television on so he wasn’t in silence as he completed whatever medical essay he had and his feet would drum against the mattress just for something to do. 

“You have to do your homework, Nico.” He said softly. Nico rolled his eyes and picked at the hem of his t-shirt.  “I’m being serious. If you fail your exams your dad won’t be happy.”

“I don’t even like sociology.” Nico huffed. He tried to sound grumpier than he felt, but it was hard when Will made his heart warm up. “I only took it to make my options up to four. Why should I care about different subcultures and how they affect us as a society?”

Will’s laughter was music to Nico’s ears. He yearned to hear that beautiful sound, to see Will soon. It had been nearly an entire week since Nico had seen his boyfriend; or seen him in an… intimate way. And while Nico didn’t think of himself as being a clingy boyfriend that needed to see his significant other more than two times a week, but when Will was so close to him and Nico was not allowed to reach out and touch him was harder than it seemed. 

“A sad, low-key emo kid like you should care about your subculture being valid, darlin’.” Nico let out a noise between a sigh of annoyance and a whimper. 

“When can I see you?” He asked. Will hummed. Nico imagined he shrugged. “Jason and Percy have been driving me crazy this week. I can’t deal with their bullshit much longer.” 

“Well if we just told them then I could offer you some sanity.” Nico rolled his eyes. “Don’t roll your eyes at me, Nico. I know you did even if I can’t see you, so don’t.”

Nico could hear people talking in the background, more familiar than voices from the sounds that came from his television. He easily recognised one of Lou Ellen - Will’s best friend - so the most obvious answer was the other one was Cecil. But Nico couldn’t tell from voice alone. 

“You’re not even doing any work!” 

“I was until Lou Ellen and Cecil came over!” Upon hearing their names Lou Ellen and Cecil started shouting greetings to Nico, which Nico ignored to continue talking to Will.

“Tell them to bugger off and come over so we can watch Lovely Complex!” Will sighed. Nico knew what they meant. But he wasn’t going to go down without a fight.  “Fine. But me on loud speaker.”

Will didn’t say anything but he said hello and got an enthusiastic shout from Lou Ellen in response. 

“Okay, I’m in a relationship with Will and I swear to god if you don’t let him come over to my place so we can cuddle and watch shitty romance animes instead of doing our work like the responsible college students we are I will hurt you both so bad you won’t even be able to comprehend it.”

Commotion broke out, Cecil started groaning and shouting that Nico should have held out for two more weeks as Lou Ellen was laughing victoriously, telling her friend to hand the money over now. Will was demanding to know if they better on his love life, but he was ignored in the excitement.

“Am I ever going to get to see Will or...?” Nico asked, but his question was lost in the excitement of the room.

“CAN WE TELL PEOPLE?!” Lou Ellen asked as Will shouted at Cecil to stop punching the pillow before his mother came upstairs and kicked his ass. 

“Yes, whatever.” Nico felt a headache coming along just from being near the phone. He could probably put it on the end of his bed and still hear everything that was going on perfectly. 

“I am going to kick you for making me deal with this shit, Nico.” Will groaned into the phone. Nico scoffed. As long as Will was with him he didn’t care. He just needed Will.
