me looking up the definition of a word i totally know the meaning of i just have to make sure it didn’t change for some reason or i made it up
Just saying, sibling-coded is NOT a valid argument against a ship. If you PERSONALLY think they're like siblings, that's YOUR headcanon. Nobody else has to go by YOUR headcanon.
KNUCKLES AND AMY ARE NOT SIBLINGS. KNUXAMY IS PERFECTLY OKAY.
However, if two characters CANONICALLY view each other as siblings despite being unrelated, that is PSEUDO-INCEST. When it comes to that, it's a slippery slope on morality.
LUZ AND HUNTER ARE NOT SIBLINGS. LUNTER IS PERFECTLY OKAY.
If two characters are biologically related or are adoptive siblings (includes being raised together as siblings), that is INCEST. Incest is BAD.
SONIA AND MANIC ARE RELATED. MANIA IS NOT OKAY.
(Edit: Removed Shadria, as they are not canonically siblings. Shadria fans should still DNI, though.)

I've started to like them again 🌧️
Selfreblog just because I can and really proud of this 🫡
Owl House Hot take: I would’ve preferred a Boscha redemption arc over Hunter because personally I thought in Canon he would’ve given me that ‘Anti Hero’ vibe and edgy vibe to the Hecsquad but in Canon, his arc couldn’t have been more obvious in Neon colors if signs were pointing that he would have changed.
I feel Hunter lost any cool/angsty vibes after Hollow
Boscha redemption (or heck AU where Boscha was the Golden Guard) would’ve been a better contrast for Amity to fight against imo. Or she could’ve been the Evil Token Teammate with us having complicated feelings towards Boscha changing
Honestly, I don't think that Hunter's redemption arc should have been removed. I think the post-redemption Hunted should've been written differently (just like Amity and Lilith), but the whole arc about learning truth about Belos and trying to separete from him id actually one of the best things showcrew came up with.
The one who couldn've been replaced is Amity, because her and Boscha have many similarities... But I don't think it is nesessary too.
Yeah it would be nice if Boscha was redeemed in that manner like Sasha. Sure she’s got divorced parents but that wasn’t really an excuse for her behavior and actions, leading her to make it up on her own, which feels more real imo than the typical toxic family, evil parental figures or whatever.
Plus Boscha could give that edge into Anti-hero I thought Hunter would have given me honestly but he was more soft and sad than I was hoping he’d be imo.
I have nothing to add, totally agree with you
recap on Knights of Guinevere's "Baby's First Discourse":
scene of the show has frankie's asshole boss calling her "franklin." fans interpret this as misgendering and think frankie is canonically trans
dana confirms that frankie is canonically cis, she just has a lot of masc nicknames
people start saying dana is transphobic for this
additional context that people were mad at dana for not making willow "look more blasian" when she had a black dad and a korean dad, dana eventually had to confirm the black dad was a stepdad and willow was never intended to be blasian, so it makes sense that she would want to confirm things quickly so people don't get the wrong idea for a long time. people ignore this and decide her rush to confirm frankie is cis (when she was DIRECTLY ASKED, if i may remind you) means that she hates trans women
people also decide that dana is transphobic because a trans woman voiced the asshole boss (a cis man in the show afawk). trans woman actress literally has to come out and say she enjoys playing characters like him and likes being able to voice both male and female characters
dana puts out an apology saying that she didn't mean trans headcanons for frankie were bad, only that she was not written with the intention of being trans. she has previously stated this is her stance on queer headcanons so this is not a surprise from her
dana blocked people who were throwing parasocial fits over her confirming frankie as cis. everyone decides this means that she IS indeed transphobic and her apology means nothing
This is why we can't have nice things
Okay so in the future you could tell the potential of Boschluz in an AU. Honestly I know Amity was the redeemed mean Girl but seeing as she started developing in being sweet and likable in less than 10 Episodes, I kinda hoped Boscha would (could) have given me that edgy Mean girl slow redemption edge I like. I mean It's kind of why i personally like Sasha's character and growth more than Amity.
I mean I probably would've been just as if not more engaging than Hunter's who's arc is great but was more highlighted in neon lights
Plus Luz (and Amity) being Boscha's reasoning for slowly growing into being a better person could be potentially adorable.
Agree with you. I'm not sure if they wouldn't ruin Boscha the same way they ruined Amity if they wanted to redeem her too, but at least she doesn't (as we know) have super toxic family that can "excuse" her actions, so she would be more similar to Sasha, in a way that she would have to take all responsibility for her actions and wouldn't be able to blame her mom, dad, uncle, aunt or whoever

Sorry, but the take "if you accept toxic mlm ship but hate on toxic wlw ships you're mysoginist" is kinda crazy to me. What in situation when someone accepts men being treated like shit but don't wanna see women in the same situation screams misogyny to you?
So I’m curious, if you’re able to rewrite Boscha’s whole character arc in the series and given her proper character growth in the series.
And for Boscha and Luz interactions to grow into becoming friends and maybe more? Heck even the trio of Luz, Amity and Boscha.
I'm really sorry for answering that late!
Honestly, looking at toh now, as much as I like her, I see, that Boscha doesn't really need to be more than she already is in the show. She plays her role pretty good, unfortunately. But if I could make her more relevant character...
I think it's definitely possible. One of the best ways I think would be to make Amity try to get Boscha on her side, try to help her redeem herself too. As part of Amity's own redemption. So she could show that she truly changed by stoping Willow's bulling and trying to help her friend to do better. And it would be important to make Boscha (and Skara) actual friends to Amity. She should care about them.
After that, Boscha can slowly become like an ally to Hexsquad, and it will open opportunities to create platonic or romantic dynamics between her and Luz.
I also think Boschluz would actually be more interesting than Lumity in canon, but it's for another post
I was watching a video on YouTube and a guy dropped "oh yeah the devs are also from eastern europe so they have to deal with living in a country so depressing it was inspiration for video game dystopias" and I was like... you do know that eastern Europe is not a horrible unliveable pit of sorrows and that the people who live there aren't just fighting in the streets for breadcrumbs and to survive, people just LIVE there, but then I remembered. The mind of an american cannot comprehend outside world and people who speak other language as anything else than unwashed savages

^^ Fair, but I was trying to show that eastern Europe is varied so I intentionally selected contrasting pictures. Also westerners don't typically see Russia as having big modern infrastructures like that.
But okay, it also has beautiful architecture and landscapes:
These “Americans dumb and bad” posts are getting old. Get outside.
As opposed to the "easter europeans are all depressed, poor, criminals or communists" posts, movies, shows, books, videos etc from americans, which none of us are tired of, evidently, and which should go unquestioned and with a smile.
Je fais pas ouin ouin quand les gens critiquent les français. Surtout quand c'est mérité. Je veux pas entendre de ouin ouin de la part des états-uniens.

Sorry tumblr user I stole this clip from your post I can’t stop laughing why is he doing that
i will never understand when there’s a fictional character who is so unlikeable but is somehow beloved by everyone in the story.
don’t get me wrong, i’m not saying characters HAVE to be likeable in order to be good. there are plenty of protagonists who are unlikeable or even straight up villainous, but they make for very compelling characters.
what i don’t get is when the writers wants us to believe that these type of characters are perfectly acceptable and loved by everyone. not even as a façade, it’s not like people are pretending to like them. they just do, for whatever reason.
the thing is that you can like an annoying character if they’re interesting enough to impact the plot in unique ways. but the same wouldn’t apply to real people. you might like a character who is snobby or self-centered or manipulative, but you absolutely would NOT like them if you knew them irl.
so it’s just absurd to me when that kind of character is canonically beloved by all. even worse when anyone who doesn’t like that character is treated as the villain. it just immediately turns me off. if you’re gonna write a heavily flawed and unlikeable character, you have to commit to that and make everyone else react to them in a realistic manner.
even when the character is good and not terribly flawed, i find it unrealistic when EVERYONE (except the villain maybe) just loves them. this is the problem i had with Kipo from Kipo And The Age Of Wonderbeasts. she was your archetypical protagonist - the adorkable main character.
but the thing that annoyed me the most about her is just how much EVERY SINGLE PERSON liked her and had to mention how kind or nice she is every two seconds. and the only person who hates her is the villain because obviously only evil people are allowed to dislike Kipo.
it just comes off as forced and unrealistic because let's be real, no matter how good you are, there will always be people who hate you or don't particularly like you.
but yeah, it's worse when the character is straight up an asshole and everyone else just ignores it or treats it as a cute little quirk.

one thing that i love about infinity train is how REAL the characters are, despite being in a fantasy setting, and the narrative of how experiences shape individuals. the way they speak and act are so realistic, their choices are understandable and their arcs are so well-written. all of the characters have glaring flaws they need to work on, but it's also clear that these flaws are the results of some kind of trauma or the way they were treated.
tulip was disillusioned with the world, angry and distant. and this is a direct reaction to her parents' divorce and her inability to cope with it. which is sympathetic, of course, it's a hard thing to go through as a child. the show also reveals that tulip blames herself for her parents' divorce, which can hit close to home for many people.
lake was similarly angry and defiant, even outright hostile in certain situations. again, this comes as a response to the way she was treated in the train, the way she was never granted her freedom and individuality, and how she was trapped in a role she didn't want to play. it's no wonder that many queer people identify so much with lake, because the rules of the train mirrors real life. (MIRRORS, haha get it)
jesse has people-pleasing tendencies that reach the point where it actually hurts people. we've all seen protagonists who are people pleasers or eager to appear likeable to people, but usually it only hurts themselves. jesse's case is the prime example of "a friend to all is a friend to none". you can't please everyone, there are people you should oppose or ignore. otherwise, you end up hurting people who actually matters in your life.
simon and grace are straight-up villains, or anti-villains at the very best. grace is manipulative and cunning, playing on people's feelings and insecurities to serve herself. simon is controlling and somewhat egotistic, refusing to change his mindset, regardless of what happens. again, both these characters are shown to have reasons for why they became what they are, even if it doesn't justify their actions. grace grew up in an environment where she was neglected and felt lonely, and found out that her only sure way of making any sort of connection is to manipulate people. simon is implied to have dealt with someone's death before he got on the train, since he seems to have an idea of what funerals are like. that, paired with samantha the cat accidentally leaving him behind in a crucial and dangerous situation, he develops some very intense abandonment issues. again, both these issues can be very relatable to a lot of people, even if we aren't as bad as either of these characters.
min-gi was shown to be insecure and uncertain, but at the same time, arrogant and condescending. the pressure he recieved from his parents has fueled his gifted child syndrome while simultaneously making him depressed and burned out. ryan is probably the closest we have to a "conventional main character", hyperactive and quirky. but he is also not exactly perfect in all other aspects, as he wants to push things forward and refuses to give min-gi some time to think and make a decision. as a child who grew up with lots of other siblings, ryan struggles to prove himself to his family, since they don't seem to pay him much attention. both these scenarios are especially relatable to asians, but of course, anyone who may have trouble pleasing their parents and living up to expectations.
i just gave a character analysis of each protagonist, but my point is that while other cartoon protagonists tend to lean more on the heroic side, the characters in this show doesn't. in most other animated shows i've watched, the flaws a protagonist is allowed to have are either "heroic" flaws such as being too forgiving or being self-sacrificing, or shallow flaws such as clumsiness or being kind of an idiot.
but not in infinity train. the protagonists in this show aren't heroes, they are normal people. they don't have a magical destiny, they don't have to fight for the good of the world, they aren't the "chosen ones". their ultimate goal is to get out of the train (or in simon and grace's case, to be superior to everyone else, to "win").
so it really feels good when one of the characters does choose to do something nice. when tulip chooses to empathize with and help amelia, when lake bonds with alan dracula and jesse. when grace chooses to change for the better and face the consequences of her actions. when ryan chooses to stay with min-gi despite getting a door, and when min-gi does the same later on.
i watched this show about a year ago, and it's still one of the best animated shows i've watched. it's so uncomfortably real sometimes, you stop and go "am i like that?" when a character does something wrong, you know that the show addresses it and their actions have consequences. the show doesn't hand out redemption arcs to everyone or sweep things under the rug like some shows *cough* steven universe and she-ra *cough*
there's a reason why a lot of people seem to relate more to villains than heroes, because villains are allowed to be flawed while also being sympathetic. infinity train managed to create a cast of protagonists who are exactly like that. they are more than heroes, they are people.
Oh yeah, one of the greatest cartoons shows ever
Aww this is so funny lol ♡
