Deidara is funny because I've yet to come up with a good reason for him to be there outside of filling space in the Akatsuki but I simultaneously would not get rid of him if given the opportunity. Maybe Naruto just needed some random blond guy with mouths on his hands and chest, an inexplicable robot eye, and a giant bird. And then he obsesses over Itachi for a few chapters and kills himself. and we're done here

Having Deidara as my favourite character is so funny for exactly this reason.

We have characters who literally hold the plot together, have changed the world and are just vital to the story in general-

But no. Of course, out of all choices, the character I choose to adore is some random dude with no backstory, little character exploration, and never gets brought up again after death. And the best part? I regret nothing.
