Bad leak on my way home from my friend’s place. And a few guys I walked past were not subtle at all about staring and pointing.

Post-surgery walking cast and an interesting ankle brace that I also used at the time because my "good ankle" was sore from picking up the slack over the many many weeks of my other one being out of order! I still have both of these. This pic is from 5 years ago in 2021 aka the summer when I was totally crippled. Surgery in late June, and it wasn't until after Labor Day in early September that I was walking on two feet, no crutches or casts.

Yes you can still wash your own car even if you are in a non-weight bearing cast. It just takes a little more effort. This was the one time I actually did it. The rest of the times, and there have been plenty, I was on two feet. No real need to cover the cast with a plastic bag IF you know you can keep the water away from it!

Still, there was something strangely peaceful about it all. The dim light of the room, the soft armchair, and the heavy casts holding her legs securely in place made Lili stop thinking about the accident for once. Instead, she realized that sometimes life forces you to slow down… even if it takes two heavy casts to do it.
