In the anime, Magikarp evolves due to intense emotion, survival situations, or extreme rage, but Chet loves them too much to ever allow them in a bad situation and these fish are chill af. They trust Chet to protect them so even survival situations like fires don’t trigger them to stress. Chet is very jealous of Johnny’s Gyarados.
