However Ramon missed one. A small brown bear that was forgotten under Eddie’s bed. Señor Oso. Eddie treasured that bear. Slept with him every night, kept him hidden from his father. After Afghanistan, Eddie would clutch the bear to stave off nightmares. Even after he moved to LA, Señor Oso was kept on the top shelf of Eddie’s wardrobe, taken out when Eddie needed comfort. But Eddie made sure never to breathe a word about his bear to anyone, a residing fear that one day he would wake up and Señor Oso would be gone.

That is until Buck found him.

“Oh my god, Eddie this guy is adorable!”

They were doing laundry, Eddie folding and Buck putting away. When Eddie turned, he saw Buck beaming, holding the small bear. There was no malice or mocking on Buck’s face but Eddie still froze.

You’re too soft

Buck must’ve seen the fear on Eddie’s face because he says “I’ve got one as well! I’ll bring him over next time, maybe they can be friends!” He simply tucks the bear back where he got him and true to his word the next time Buck comes over, he pulls out a white bear with sunglasses and a red T-shirt with Peru and a surfboard on it. “This is Surfer! He can be your bear’s friend!”

“Señor Oso” Eddie offers, his throat dry, voice shaking. Delighted, Buck bounds off to Eddie’s room. When Eddie enters, he sees both bears sitting on his pillow and something inside him breaks.

He’d never told anyone about Señor Oso, fearing ridicule but Buck found out and instead of mocking Eddie, he put so much care into making sure Eddie knew he wouldn’t judge. So Eddie does the only thing he can. He grabs Buck in the fiercest hug he can muster, pouring all his love and gratitude into it.

(Buck pretends not to notice Eddie’s sobs. Eddie is glad, there’s only so much emotion he can deal with.)

Hen: I have both a smartphone and Karen, I don't need to steal anything.

Eddie: You're my thesaurus, babe.

Ravi: I don't even know what a thesaurus is, but I hope you find your dinosaur.

Buck: So that only leaves Chimney!

Chim: What a remarkably abnormal notion for you to postulate without due vindication.

Buck, revving his chainsaw: Cap, permission to make Chim even shorter.

But then Buck is like u know u have to tell ur dad right so reluctantly Chris does. But then Eddie is just like surprisingly chill about it and Chris is so confused cuz like why has Buck and his dad switched personalities.

And then Buck sees Eddie's reaction (or lack there of) and starts panicking that he overreacted and disciplined his best friends kid when it wasnt his place and also unnecessarily. So he goes to Eddie and like grovels but then Eddie is just like "Buck I didn't react cuz I knew you already had, I wasn't worried cuz u were there with him and had clearly already told him off and comforted him. For once you let me be good cop why would I be mad at you"

in the beginning, eddie makes sure he is the one to take off buck's real ring and put on the rubber one. then eddie sticks out his left hand expectantly, and buck does the same thing.

and it is great! buck loves that eddie does that for him, but even those few moments between the metal ring and rubber ring feel wrong, like he is untethered when he isn't wearing a physical manifestation of eddie's love on his body.

after a few months of watching buck's sad, puppy eyes, eddie can't take it anymore. he tells buck next thursday is going to be a chill date night. don't make plans and wear something comfy. buck barely makes it through the week because he is bouncing with anticipation. and when thursday comes, eddie drives them to a weird strip mall.

buck gives him a questioning look, but eddie just grins as he grabs buck's hand and pulls him into a tattoo parlor. 'i'm getting my ring tattooed, and i thought you might like to too.'

and buck's eyes get SO BIG, and he nods so fast he almost gives himself whiplash. they maintain very intense eye contact throughout the whole appointment, and when it is done and they can admire the permanent reminder of each other on their bodies, buck kisses eddie so much that the tattoo artist excuses themselves for a few minutes.
