You know, I've loved Project Hail Mary for years, but it wasn't until (post-movie) i connected with the Tumblr fanbase, and saw all their empathy for Stratt that I realized...
She's a symbol of Mary. She brought Grace into her project to save the world. She knew he needed to be sacrificed to save humanity. She loved him and she knew her final decision would really hurt him, but she did it because his sacrifice was what the world desperately needed.
There's a lot of symbolism with Grace being the savior who doesn't want to but, when it comes down to the wire, ends up sacrificing himself to save everyone. But I hadn't realized the role Stratt played in the allegory.

I just learned about this recently from a Viking reenactor! Indigo dye isn't blue until it oxidizes, so when you dye with indigo your cloth or thread doesn't come out of the water blue, it comes out and then reacts with the oxygen in the air and seems to spontaneously turn blue in front of your eyes. It's a really cool process to witness.

I tell you what, after spending years writing books that only a handful of people read (i'm working on getting published, but not quite there yet!), the instant gratification of posting your fanfic and immediately having people read it is like crack to my dopamine receptors right now. Im so motivated to write more. this is insane.

I'm not surprised Network Effect is the clear favorite. I /am/ surprised that Fugitive Telemetry has more votes than System Collapse. (FT is my least favorite but probably because it's the first I pre-ordered and I was so excited for another book with ART in it and I was so confused because it's a prequel of NE and apparently I'm still not over those feelings.) It makes sense that Exit Strategy is second place (that reunion with Mensah was ✨🥹🩵✨) and it sounds like Artificial Condition was a fan favorite because ART was introduced (I feel the same way!)
