system collapse microreview
"Would it have been kinder to kill you, before you disabled your governor module?"
"Yes."
"You know I am not kind."
on second reread I am even more obsessed with this book. not only does it have more of ART and MB being insane about each other, but this time, ART gets to be in a weaker "vessel" than usual and MB gets to take care of it for a change?!!? also minor spoilers, but saving the day with the power of media is such a beautiful synergy of all the things murderbot itself has been building and healing up to. learning from MB 2.0, and having to say twice that it never would have thought of sharing its own archives as a solution (i also absolutely process best by repeating things. often to other people though).
overall just- despite still not fully knowing what it wants, or maybe not being able to fully vocalize what it wants to do with its life MB actively participates in its own life and makes the choices it never knew were possible before. all while dealing with a new kind of trauma response. which is terrifying in its own right without adding to it any of the plot of the book on top of it all. im just. these books ruin me in the best way
(I asked because the humans would bug me for the information; I was as indifferent to human gender as it was possible to be without being unconscious.)
