Greetings, traveller…
…and welcome to my den. You look weary; you may rest here a while if you wish. Come inside, then! You shall have food and drink aplenty, and perhaps when you’re rested you can liven up my lonely den with stories of your adventures. You can call me Auric… unless you’d rather ruin your throat trying to say my Draconic name.
Hm? My pronouns? Oh, yes, I quite enjoyed the chapter on personal pronouns as I was studying your language! It took me a while to figure out that each individual determines how everyone else should refer to them! How DO you keep them all straight?! In Draconic, the speaker chooses what terms they’ll use to refer to someone based on their current perception of that person or their relationship to them. Most people agree that the classic ‘she’ suits me, but a nice neutral ‘they’ or some other variation is just fine if you perceive me otherwise! And what shall I call you, friend?
Auric is a small, pale gold-scaled dragon, who stands about 3ft at the shoulder in quadrupedal form, and just over 5ft tall in bipedal/humanoid form, with curved white horns adding a few inches. The scents of simmering soups and freshly baked bread often waft from the entrance to Auric’s den. She sometimes gives quests to brave adventurers passing by!
