A little something for @steterweek Doesnât exactly fit the prompt, but the spirit is there ;)
Stiles looks down at the book in front of him, biting his plush pink lips. His long lashes flutter against his cheeks when he blinks. The thumb and forefinger of one hand caress the corner of the page heâs reading, back and forth, back and forth.Â
All these things, Peter can handle. Heâs had time to adjust to how maddeningly pretty Stiles is, his big eyes and long lashes and that mouth, the way he canât keep his hands to himself.Â
As tempting as all these things are, whatâs caught Peterâs attention right now is Stiles playing with the long hair by his ear, twisting a curl around his finger. Because Stilesâs hair is long enough to do that now. Stilesâs hair is curling gently around his ears and down his neck and itâs driving Peter wild.Â
His boy looks even softer, even prettier this way. And there he goes again, thinking about Stiles as âhisâ when he really has no right to at all. God he wants that right.Â
He jerks at a hand on his arm. Itâs Derek, grabbing his arm and dragging him out of his seat, down the hallway to the study.Â
âWould you just talk to him,â Derek says, once heâs closed the door. His arms are folded across his chest, and he has his most judgmental eyebrows in full play. âIâm sick of watching you pine after him like some lovesick teenager. Either get over it or ask him out already.âÂ
Peter snorts. âFine talk coming from you.âÂ
âHey, only one of us has a partner here, and itâs not you,â Derek says smugly.Â
âYes, because she asked you,â Peter says, not willing to give up the fight.Â
âOh so you expect Stiles to ask you? Stiles, the kid who somehow still doesnât think heâs attractive? The one who regularly jokes about being single forever? The one who still hasnât figured out after a year that youâre basically courting him? That Stiles?âÂ
He wonât admit it out loud, but his nephew might have a point. God he hates when Derekâs right. âWhat if he says no?â Peter asks, and maybe heâs hoping that Derek knows something he doesnât, will assure him that Stiles wants him. He doesnât.Â
âThen you can deal with it and get on with your life. Do you really want to waste another year pining over him when maybe he could be yours?â
Derekâs made two good points in a row. The universe must be out of alignment. âFine. Iâll talk to him,â he grits out.Â
âSee that you do,â Derek says, sounding almost exactly like his mother. Peterâs heart aches, even in the midst of his annoyance.Â
âWhat was that about?â Stiles asks when Peter gets back to the dining room.Â
Peter holds out his hand instead of answering. âCome for a walk with me?âÂ
Stiles tilts his head, looking like an adorable puppy, trying to figure Peter out. Eventually, he takes the offered hand, and doesnât let go as they walk out of the house, down the steps, and out into the forest.Â
Peter lets himself soak in the moment, listening to the sounds of the trees and Stilesâs heartbeat. Stilesâs hand in his feels warm and comfortable. He wants to live this moment a thousand times in the years to come.Â
âYouâre not like, dying or anything, right?â Stiles asks after some time. âYouâre kind of freaking me out dude.âÂ
Peter canât help it, he laughs. His intentions being horribly misread is exactly how this would go with Stiles, isnât it? Theyâve been that way since the beginning.Â
âNo, sweetheart,â he says once his laughter has calmed, âIâm in love with you.âÂ
âOh,â Stiles says. His heart speeds up, but he sounds calm when he says, âI thought you might be? But youâre really hard to read.â
Peterâs stomach drops. âYou donât feel the same?â He asks. Theyâre still walking, still facing forward. Stiles hasnât let go of his hand at least, so thereâs that.Â
âOf course I do,â Stiles says. âIâm absolutely crazy about you.â
âWhy didnât you say anything?â Peter asks.
âWhy didnât you? Youâre the one with the super sense of smelling. I figured you knew how I felt, and if you didnât say anything, you must not want me. I didnât want to ruin our friendship by bringing it up.âÂ
âNot want you?â Peter does stop then, touches Stilesâs cheek softly, reverently. âHow could I not want you, you gorgeous, brilliant, amazing boy.âÂ
Stilesâs smile is small but delighted, his eyes dance. âWhy now?â
âItâs this goddamn hair,â Peter says, reaching up to tug at a strand. Itâs soft. His fingers linger.Â
Stiles laughs. âThis hair really does it for you, huh?âÂ
âLike you wouldnât believe.âÂ
âWhat if I told you that Iâve imagined you pulling on it while IâŠumâŠyou know,â Stiles says, suddenly shy.Â
âIâd probably have to kiss you.âÂ
âYou should definitely kiss me then. Because Iâve imagined it. A lot.â
âOh really?â Peter says, pulling Stiles up against his body.Â
âSo many times,â Stiles says, nearly touching their lips together. âOther things too,â he adds, brushing his nose against Peterâs. âFilthy, filthy things. Iâve been a very naughty boy, Peter.âÂ
Peter kisses him then, a kiss that Stiles quickly turns wet and messy in the best way, the sweetest moans falling from his lips.Â
âYouâll be mine?â Peter says, feeling a little drunk on his boy already.Â
âIâve been yours for a very long time,â Stiles says.Â
The walk back to the house is slow and meandering, their hearts as intertwined as their hands as they share confessions and secret wishes and hopes. Peter canât wait to be absolutely insufferable to be around, sickeningly in love. Itâs going to be wonderful.Â
