Dragonflies live, on average, for 6 months when they're mature. But as nymphs they can live up to 4 years. Was listening, for the 3rd time, to Sam Harris's podcast with Shane Parrish from the Farnam street blog (fs.com). One thing that stuck with me today is the idea of delayed gratification. I don't know about you, but sometimes I feel the pressure of "a bottomless instafeed of amazing projects". It feels like so many people are knitting so fast & so much, constantly presenting new patterns and projects. When do you sleep/eat, people?! In the meantime, I can barely finish 3 rows of this cardigan before I fall asleep, exhausted from work, chores, studying and taking care of a sick cat. If you ever feel that way, I say don't worry too much. Knit at your own pace, study when you feel like it and never fear that you might be missing out on something. Because life's not meant to be a competition about who has the best / happy life, who married the biggest schmuck or who has the cutest kid, like social media channels would have us think. Life's meant to be enjoyed, with all its happy and dull moments. So give yourself time, you'll get there.
