You can see how hard it was for him – how hard it was to try so hard to be a machine when he wasn’t acting like one.He was stuck in the middle. Stuck between what he was made to be to who he could be. Honestly, though, I believe Hank was his final push to Deviancy. Depending on how you play, Hank can be one of the reasons Connor become’s Deviant or Connor becomes the reason Hank dies. I think that describes their relationship perfectly; they help each other get to where they need to be and when they aren’t there for each other, they both suffer.And then you have RK900. He’s completely different, not just clothing but in appearance. His eyes are blue, he’s swol, and he’s a complete machine. Unlike Connor, he has no pull to humanity and is probably not easily persuaded to become Deviant. He’s most likely ruthless and completely analytical.The black and white shows this so well. He doesn’t have the ability to choose who he is – who he wants to be. He’s either black or white, nothing in between. As you said, he was already “pre-defined”.So, yes, Connor wearing grey definitely signifies his struggle between machine and humanity. And RK900 wearing black and white shows that, unlike Connor, he doesn’t have a choice.
