AYY it’s that time again.
It’s been 18 weird, confusing years. I’ve struggled with my gender for my entire life. People have come, and people have left - some in bad ways, others in worse ways. It’s been a year since I came out to my family as a transgender boy. I’m fortunate to have siblings who’re accepting of me, fortunate to have a grandmother who hasn’t kicked me out even if she doesn’t necessarily accept me.
I’m still happy, even though I’m faced with people who are unable to accept who I am everyday, whether they be family members, old friends or strangers. I have two siblings, some kid I’ve known since middle school, a girl I met my second year of high school, and a girlfriend who’re all my best friends. They’ve all helped me find happiness with who I am now. The pre T, still mistaken as a girl transgender guy.
It’s taken me years to find myself. It’s taken me years to become comfortable with who I am. It’s still gonna take time for me to finally be at that place I wanna be when it comes to my body. Even if it doesn’t happen soon, I still have my friends, and I know they’ll always see me as the guy I am. Being misgendered will always hurt, don’t get me wrong. It’ll still give me that cold feeling in my chest and fill me with anger, but there will be a day - sometime in the future - when I won’t have to worry if my teacher’s gonna call out my birth name, or if the cashier is gonna call me a girl.
Oh, boy, I’m so fucking ready for what the future holds for me.
