EDIT. Guys. The point of this post is NOT to demonize employees.I’ve said it several times. The point of this post is to tell people to do their own research before getting an animal, not to rely on the store to tell you everything they need. And to not be a dick to pet store employees - or retail workers in general - because they will get written up and/or fired over your temper tantrum. This post applies to any store that lives and breathes the “customer is always right” mantra.

However, I definitely agree with OP's point that you should do your own research and ask a vet for advice. Some pet store (and this applies to ALL pet stores) employees straight up may not know/don't care, they may know only a bit about the pets, or they could just be misinformed. Just like you would with a research paper, get your information from MULTIPLE, RELIABLE SOURCES. You can't rely on a random pet store employee to tell you absolutely everything you need to know and expect they be 100% right, so it would make sense to find others to ask ☺
