The power of friendship!

Picked up Monster Hunter Generations on my 2DS for the first time in a while, cuz I missed my character. Took on a 3 hyper Gyceperos hunt, hoping for a challenging but fair time. Here's art of my character Jaeyrn going through it!

Jaeryn believes he's just as strong as any large monster, and that he just needs to work hard enough to prove it. He'll tank poison and dodge into oncoming attacks just to stay in the fight longer.

The hyper gyceperos hunt was going well, but in the end, he ran out of time just as the third monster was limping. What a tragedy, but at least he was able to get one of their heads before being carted back to the village. Severing it was a challenge, but carrying it, turns out, was pretty easy (though he'll be scrubbing blood and spinal fluid out of his armor for a while).

Another Icening fact: she has trouble seeing up close. She's supposed to wear prescription glasses but she hates them. That's why she always gives her documents to her handler like "read while we're heading to our objective" (reality: she can't read sh*t).

The rare moments when you can see her with them is when she needs to aim (and she's surprisingly terrible at aiming... What a coincidence :D)

Strange thing tho: she LOVES wearing sunglasses. 🤷

When Peekaboo the Wudwud and Icening the Huntress are exploring, Peekaboo likes to climb on Icening's head to enjoy a better view. A particularly unsettling thing for Icening, as she's allergic to Lynians.

However, with time, she noticed a slight difference, as if her metabolism started to accept the presence of the little creature around her. As a consequence she started to enjoy their exploration a little more. She's more receptive to Peekaboo's amazement and she learned to enjoy simple things again, as butterflies flying around them.

After the first defeat of Zoh Shia, Icening decides to stop hunting. She was never meant for this in first place: she became huntress as a way to keep her previous unit, including her sister, "alive" through the hunt. For her it was the only way to do it - in reality, the only way to avoid grieving.

Nonetheless she became a skilled and experimented huntress and after more than ten years of hunting, leaving all of this for a new chapter is a unsettling challenge for her. She literally doesn't know what's coming next: a true jump into unknown. Plus, to stop hunting means leaving her trespassed comrads for good, being able to finally and definitively say them goodbye.

I like to imagine that Gemma cuts her hair in a way to support her. Like, her hair probably took YEARS to grow and it's always something to get rid of them. But she's like: "okay, let's move on together. Let's start something fresh and new."

And Icening will probably cry. A lot. It'll mean everything for her.

So yeah, canonically, Icening is supposed to renew with the first reason she joined the Guild in first hand and to become Field Scientist (and Handler) again in Ascendance!

Here's a first draft of how I imagine her :D

Icening always likes to spend time to the smithy. She enjoys the sound of the hammer on the metal, the crackling of the fire and the whistling of the hot steel tempered in water. It's quite soothing for her.

A YTP of a bowhunting instructional VHS. I picked up a copy of this tape at a flea market and was delighted to find that it had been digitized and uploaded to YouTube.

Initially I had some inexplicable technical headache with the project file and had to start the whole thing over, but I'm happy I could preserve what I'd started and produce a hefty 10+ minute video.
