I think the ending of the Good Omens finale is bittersweet but so lovely. Aziraphale and Crowley can be together for a whole human lifetime, they don’t have to pick a ‘side’, and Crowley is free to look at the stars whenever he wishes. They have the cottage in the South Downs that we were promised so long ago, and, in the end, there were nightingales.
I can only admire them for choosing to create a universe without an ineffable plan, even at the expense of themselves.
And we did get a marriage and a South Downs Cottage
But.....the human ending was the thing I desperately did not want. Yeah a professor au is cute but. I dont know. It kind of cheapens the whole thing for me that they got each other, got their confession, and then immediately lost everything. After everything they went through, they deserved to have a place on that new Earth as themselves. And I know they'll find each other in every universe and will always love each other and so on, but choosing each other DESPITE all of the messiness of their past was what I wanted more than anything. And we only really got that for a moment. They didn't get to really enjoy that.
Real as fuck !! Like it was a good ending objectively in terms of what the characters wanted out of the end of the universe they knew yknow but also, part of their appeal was that they had spent so much longer in love than anybody in the universe and they fought for each other against everything through the war in heaven through 6000 years of earth and then to make it all one lifetime of love makes it feel less? Than their all powerful all consume inhuman depths of love they had
But also like it is a good ending as a choice they made together and knowing they were in love until the end like yeah I would have liked more but ill take it miles over the ending to s2 being our finale ending
