Do you think Endeavor would have changed if he never became the No 1 hero after All Might's retirement, maybe because Hawks beat him to it? If not, would he have eventually changed after perhaps seeing Dabi slowly die in that tube? Is there anything that could have happened to his family that would cause him to reflect on his actions, if he never became the No 1 hero? Would Endeavor still find trying to be No 1 worthwhile if he's not competing against All Might?
Do i think enji would've changed if he didn't become n1 after all might retirement? Hmmm, that's a bit difficult for me to answer without any bias (because I despise endeavor and think he should've been locked up or killed), so I'll try my best.
Personally, I think enji would've still pushed shoto to beat whoever was holding the tilt of n1 hero after all might's retirement(becuz at the enji still wants his masterpiece to be n1 or some fucked up thing like that). Would he have changed? Yes, I believe so, maybe in some fucked up way not competing with all might would make him reflect on if everything he's done to "his" family was worth it if he didn't get the fulfill the goal of beating all might in the end.
Here's where my biases come in to play.
I personally believe enji changed to reenforce horikoahi's ideology that "even tho hero's do bad things they're still good at the end of the day" and also that "abusers should be given a second chance IF they work for the law instead of against it" (if endeavour really really believed that he should've paid for his crimes he would've turned himself in and get locked up away from the family. Not get them a house but still force they to visit and make them watch how he's changed ect)
If mha wasn't and abuser apologist + a Copaganda bs than enji would've faced legal consequences whether he changed or not so his redemption didn't mean jack shit to me
