I cannot survive if I'm not obsessed with a work of fiction, I need something to focus on to function, so here's a side blog for this. I tend to not stay focus on one fandom in particular. Today I'm obsessed with one thing, tomorrow it will be another.

Things I do not tolerate:
Pro-shipping (imo, shipping is actively supporting the idea of two characters together, not a "one time/once in a while" thing. If you write a fucked-up fic or a toxic relationship without romanticising it, I will not judge. It can be cathartic. Fucked work of fiction are not a bad thing. I have an issue with painting a toxic relationship as okay)
Starting "debate" or "arguments" with no capacity to be polite. I'm super anxious so I really dislike debate and argument in general, and most of y'all cannot behave online. My complaining isn't an invitation to have an argument.
Finding excuses for abusive characters, especially toxic parents. Yes, I'm a good dad Batman believer, but I will not argue that some of his behaviors in some comics is abusive, I'm just against that characterization.
Some stuffs about me.

I'm sure this manifests into some deductive reasoning, but the visual of Alfred reading Bruce's journal full of his musings about how he let himself get too attached to his family and the mantle has made him something more than a man etc etc but only being interested in weird grammatical choices is sooo... like you see why Bruce is the way he is right
Wolfwood being Knives' favorite human is an implied detail only present in the manga only. During the whole story, it's clear that Knives doesn't care about a single human and their life, that his followers are just pawns (he even discuss killing Legato with Elendira at some point), and he kills them the moment they get in his way. He is even describes to never smile. However, upon meeting Wolfwood, who was trying to kill him, he smiles and he doesn't kill him, he doesn't punish him, he gives him the job of protecting his brother. After that, Knives only brings Wolfwood to praise him, even sending Zazie to tell him how good of a job he is doing. Knives do not praise anyone else, Wolfwood is the only human he seems to like, making him his favorite human (yes, the bar is in hell)
~ Knives being described by Midvalley as never smiling, only maybe once
~ Knives smiling upon opening his eyes and meeting Wolfwood, who is above him, pointing a gun at him
~ A tired Knives talking about Wolfwood to Legato
The animes (be the old one or the current one) are not bad, but they aren't accurate adaptations of the manga, and the manga is so good. Nightow is every good storyteller who utilizes very well his art and framing to tell his story, especially in the final chapters. He also understands very well how trauma works, which is shown in how he writes each of his characters, from Vash and Wolfwood, to Meryl and Knives. (Meryl is sooooo traumatized in the manga) Vash and Knives' trauma is also always a bit different in the animes, which is very sad because the manga's version is perfect (again, very good representation of trauma). Knives in particularly is always written more like an evil child in the animes, when in the manga, he is portrayed as the weakest twin, which is why he suffered the most from their trauma. And even Vash's trauma, as a child, is ugly in the manga, demonstrating that there are no perfect reaction to trauma (Knives is more quiet, so Rem doesn't catch his trauma like Vash's, leading to the Fall, which is a great message about how children who are quiet are NOT not suffering and should be checked on before they explose) Knives' abandonment and mommy issues are also less present in the animes, his character is really the one to suffer the most in adaptations, a lot of details being thrown away for time and new storytelling (in the manga, Knives is always tired and frequently sleeping because he overuses his powers, which is an important detail when later, the twins' powers, their uses and their life's expectancy is revealed to be linked. But in the current anime, he doesn't need to sleep to appear less human)
Also, in the manga, Elendira is a trans woman, and there is no transphobia.
And the manga is available, for free, on the blog @/trigun-manga-overhaul, who work hard for an accurate translation and still improve the scans to this day!
The message that having a child biologically doesn't make one a good parent comes back here with Cyanide arguing that she knows what is best for her son (again, an argument MANY parents use, the idea that nobody else than them know what their child need because it's THEIR child), while Batman disagrees.
At the same time, Bruce is, once again, a defender of children rights instead of a wiser parental figure, similarly to when he was drugged. Batman exists so no child suffers like Bruce did, and here, he is willing to die for this child, who did lost his parents to her, so he is seeing himself in him.
However, "If I'm going to hell then you're coming with me!" is, imo, about parenting and so Bruce is back in his role as a parent: if Bruce's a bad parent and deserves to be punished, then so does she as she is worse.

If you ship Brudick, never interact with my posts and block me. Also, stop fucking reblogging my posts about Bruce and Dick and tagging it with your ship, I'm yapping about a father and his son, this is disgusting.
okay, so let's break down whatever this monstrosity is.
"I was only ever a tourist in her world" could not be a more inaccurate statement. if you've read any comic involving talia and bruce's relationship from the 70s-90s, you'd know they were obsessed with each other. while they had their flaws, it was a genuine, mutual relationship
"...and an unwilling one at that." aaand this is the magnum opus of this panel. we all know the retcon and how the fandom (and apparently authors) treats it. putting that phrase in any context with talia & bruce is like asking for people to take it and run with the "oh, it's canon again, let's all hate her now" or something along those lines. now, having that on its own just brought up would've been bad enough, but putting it directly above an illustration of the two of them clearly being intimate is like pulling the pin to a hand grenade.
"all steeped in her unorthodox cultural traditions" holy anti/arabphobia. the concept of this line even being thought of, let alone being written, making it past editorial, and being published. but then again, it's DC, so i'm not surprised.
"convinced his presence in my life would destroy me, she threw him [damian] in my lap." honestly, this may be one of the worst things ever written. the entire reason she sent him was to keep him safe and so damian could meet his father. could she have had other motives? yeah, maybe, but it wasn't to destroy bruce's life, nowhere near that extreme.
"... and ran away laughing." while i'm sure this is hyperbole, and she didn't literally walk away laughing, by saying that, implies she took pleasure in just dropping damian off with bruce and found it amusing. which, again, could not be any further away from the truth as this was one of the most difficult decsions she ever made + one of her biggest regrets. and due to the wording it implies she could basically care less about damian and just dropped him off without a second look, again could not be an even falser statement
"it became my job to both dismantle that time bomb, and to make it stronger." ah yes because the feral child will learn how to control himself, all thanks to his white father, after living with his arab maternal side for the first ten years of his life, yes, yes, exactly. and the whole "make it stronger" bit is so odd because you want to dismantle, which the definition of dismantling is: "to take apart a machine or structure so that it is in separate pieces." OR "to end an organization or system by gradually in an organized way." (oxford dictionary)
so you want to take what he learned from the league apart and just essentially reteach him? pick and choose what "pieces" from his time in the league he gets to keep and use while being robin? you do you i guess.
now the big thing is, well, he would not fucking say that. bruce genuinely loved talia to the point he had her scent memorized. he respected her AND ra's. no way would he be caught dead talking about her or damian for that matter like this.
moral of the story, this whole thing is orientalist, and rascist. also i take back what i said about how talia fans have been eating lately. we are in fact on the edge of being sent back to purgatory & it was fun while it lasted.

Pride month is over so I can admit that Minhkhoa Khan is, to me, Bruce's toxic ex-boyfriend with who he got when he was young and traveling the world because he didn't receive all the affection he needed growing up, so he thought being with someone that treated him like he was naive and insane and disrespect his wishes was ok. The best thing Khoa did for him was breaking up with Bruce, and no, they can never be together again.
Also, this has nothing to do with Khoa being diagnosed as a psychopath. I think Bruce wanting to prove to Khoa that the sanism he grew up hearing about himself is wrong is great, love that kind of message about such a vilified disorder, and love that Bruce is fighting it. Khoa is abusive because of how he was raised, not because of his mental illnesses.
Superfam fans are so full of hatred for the bats, holy shit. And the moment you dare criticize one of their guys, or the writing of one of them, or write anything with their guys that they don't like (even if it's positive), they get rude so fast.

He only got mad that Bruce didn't kill the Joker after Jason died. For taking Jason away from Bruce. Then he got mad about being "replaced", which wasn't true, and Jason dropped that resentment after finding out the truth and going through an adjustment period.
That's it.
He knows what went down at the warehouse isn't as cut and dry as to say it was Bruce's fault exclusively. Hell, let's be real, if you wanna assign blame to anybody then do it to Shelia. It's Shelia's fault.
She had the opportunity to let Jason help. He extended her an olive branch of trust and she threw him under the bus to keep her own embezzling scheme hidden. She was also embezzling money from funding for medical care for people in desperate need in a third world country. As a doctor herself. Why do people defend her?
She threw her son's life away, and her own, because she didn't wanna get caught embezzling money.
But no, we still get these bomb-drop panels of Bruce getting sucker punched by "YoU lEt jASOn ToDD dIE!!", then the fandom rallies behind it like moths to a flame as if it's some true fucking thing. As if he didn't have to make a hard choice between saving hundreds of people from being Joker Gassed and taking care of Shelia and the Joker with Jay. As if he didn't beg Jason to wait for him to get back so they could save his mother together. As if Clark didn't haul Bruce away from killing the Joker multiple times afterwards.
As if anyone who wasn't there has any right to criticize Bruce for having a sidekick when most heroes have ones too. Just because those sidekicks have powers doesnt mean they were any less in danger in a fucking BATTLEFIELD.
Donna died. Her husband and child also died. Roy got hooked on drugs when Ollie fucked off across the country for six months and didn't care to call the boy at all, then punched him in the face immediately after learning Roy was an addict and threw him out. He also never apologized for this act, Ollie legitimately thought it was the right thing to do. Hal had to be the one to help Roy out with Dinah, to find him and get him the help he needed. Hal and Dinah. Not Oliver.
Garfield was an afterthought so Steven could marry Rita, and Steven only adopted Gar explicitly because Rita required him to if they were gonna get married. They were a package deal. That was her only request. Because she loves that boy and wanted to give him a real home, a permanent one. When she FUCKING DIES, Steven became an abusive alcoholic and barely tolerated Gar's presence. He only marginally took care of Gar in name only as a legal obligation.
When Gar was acting out because the majority of the found family he lost DIED, Steven was too busy wallowing in his own self pity for losing Rita to care beyond getting pissed that Gar was acting out in the first place, and constantly disregarded Gar as a troublesome burden. They didn't start having a proper father-son relationship and begin patching up all those holes until long after the Titans came back into existence.
I don't wanna hear that Bruce is the only terrible parent figure who "let" his son die in battle. Especially when we know that shit isn't true. So many other sidekicks arguably went through much worse shit than just outright dying, and their mentor figures seemingly get a free pass because y'all motherfuckers like to nitpick. It is especially bullshit writers in the comics love to harp on Bruce's faults and decisions regarding the Robins, Jason especially, to bolster the flimsy enough morality scale increase the characters get from doing so on panel.
If Jason were to see this shit Wally and Clark pulled on Bruce in person, he'd knock them the fuck out.
The Gem in the Tags about a Sheila Lives AU would be very interesting and it’s something I’ve lowkey thought about before.
Cus I would like to think she takes full advantage of the fact that Bruce is a billionaire and is like “how could you let my son be Robin?” Even though she JUST led Jason into a trap.
So maybe she gets hush money, because she knows Bruce is Batman, and she comes back to Gotham and is just living the life, because of Jason’s loss of life. She’s like fully taking advantage of a Grieving Bruce.
And maybe after a certain point she’s able to manipulate Bruce enough into a romance with him out of their “shared love/grief” of Jason to the point where it’s kinda public.
Oh! And Dick probably is trying so hard to like her but there’s something off, and his hallucinations of Jaybin HATE her, and Alfred is abroad, so maybe he doesn’t know cus I bet he would clock her immediately.
Uhhh idk. Just imagine the UTRH confrontation adding Sheila into the mix.
