another thing i really love about recent archon quest is how clear it was made that cyno and tighnari are collei's family/father figures bc genshin unfortunately has to make something explicit for y'all to take seriously the familial relationships that are not biological 😒 ( like Diluc and Kaeya ). I love my found family 🥹🥹🥹
throughout the whole archon quest we can see how slowly but surely kaveh and Alhaitham and their relationship has developed and i really love it. They still banter and have communications problems but they are definitely feel that things have progressed between them.
i deeply don't trust people that dislike the 6.6 archon quests i am sorry. For any Sumeru fan (whether lore or just archon quest), this archon quest is beautiful love letter. Collei, Wanderer, Nahida, Nefer, Dori and even side npc characters such as Liloupaf and Jeht, have beautiful and well written arcs that feel very well earned ( Sumeru has the best written cast of characters and i will die on this hill!) Pantalone had an amazing introduction. The way the incoperated world quests and the lore was so nice to see as a lore enjoyer. So many different dynamics between the cast and all feel very organic and earned. As someone who loves Sumeru it was everything i asked for.
while many of the people that believe in nahida now believe in her through the lens that they think she has always existed ( thus believing in ruhkadevata and not actually on Nahida), i love that Dunyarzard has always been one of her true followers and has always believed in her. Like one of the very few people that has always believed in Nahida regardless of Irminsul reality altering shenanigans it's so sweet

i know a lot of people don't like it bc it feels reducive or repetitive but LOVEEE kavetham's dynamic it's so fucking funny seeing Alhaitham ragebait Kaveh every single time without fail even in front of these old ass gods hzgdgsydh
new sumeru archon quest is so funny bc everyone and their mothers are here, from the Dragon Sovereign, to the Pillars of King Deshret, from Angels to Aranara, from Pari to Jeht and Ben Ben. And the greatest part that all these great deities meet regular citizens of Sumeru. Cyrus introducing himself infront of Three of the Pillars of King Deshret, meanwhile Hermanubis god remains reside in Cyno. Kaveh and Alhaitham meeting Nicole. We are in Sumeru:Endgame now.
i don't ship real life people for many reasons but man.... there's really not other explanation for taengsic... everytime i think of them i get so sad literally the doomed yuri ever.
arlong park remains the quintessential one piece arc and represents all of the core themes of one piece ( dreams , friendship and freedom) so well. So many highlights for every character, but Nami's character arc in particular will always make me emotional which makes me even angrier at how the live action bastardized both the arc, Nami, Nojiko and Luffy. Opla sucks so fucking bad man.
Not to get all anarchist about it (blatant lies) but I really think a huge part of the conflict between Luffy and Usopp in Water Seven comes down to Luffy feeling the pressure to take a position of authority over the crew, rather than just leadership
The Merry was technically Luffy's ship, since Kaya gave her to Luffy, but it's undeniable that she was a home and a crewmate to all of the crewmembers and had a particularly close bond with Usopp, and even though it was the right decision, Luffy had no right to make that call on his own. And to be fair I don't think he would have under normal circumstances. Luffy doesn't want to be some kind of a big boss to his crew, he wants to be friends, but basically everything went wrong in Water Seven and he felt like it was his responsibility to take charge, and then he fucked it up
The fact that the situation was resolved by forcing Usopp to show submission in order to be accepted back does not help the case. It always feels gross to me
This is my biggest problem with Water Seven. Luffy and Usopp both fucked up, but only Usopp has to apologise, and in fact the narrative reinforces that Luffy has to stay adamant about it even though he clearly doesn't want to and it goes against his nature. The narrative sides with Zoro, but in my opinion Zoro is just wrong
The Straw Hat crew works so well because they're so good at sharing responsibility and leadership and listening to each other and being primarily comrades. The crew regularly criticises and confronts and straight up overrules Luffy when he's being a dumbass, and he accepts that because he respects them, and because being a captain doesn't mean authority to him; it's a leadership of purpose
THIS
And it breaks my little heart knowing that people don't see it this way. Usopp being forced to apologize if he wants to come back just reinforces the idea (especially to those who already didn't like Usopp) that he did something Wrong. That he was the Only one who did something wrong. And fans have been carrying that message with them in their hatred for Usopp ever since. It's a shame.
Luffy was just as much at fault as Usopp was. Perhaps even more! Zoro's thing about Luffy needing to put his foot down was totally unfair, and everyone fucking knew it. I get it on a surface level, but Usopp's issues were far more nuanced than simply throwing a tantrum over "Captain's orders." Usopp gets understanding and encouragement from his crew after the falling out, but then they turn around and place all the responsibility on him to make things right. It's kinda fucked up.
"Propaganda I'm not falling for", and it's the lie that everything was okay in the end and everyone learned their lesson from water 7.

GODDD kuina's backstory hit me harder this time than when i first watched it......i really like how oda handled the subject of misogyny here. I hope post timeskip does more interesting stuff with Tashigi and Zoro it's been so long since we saw her.
i LOVEEEE how one piece uses flashbacks and tragic backstories bc it's never used to defend the villains of one piece. Outside of Robin ( and maybe Franky??? At some point) tragic backstories are never used on the villains to make us forgive them or anything like it (at least in pre time skip). Crocodile, Enel, Spandam and Cp9, none of them seem to be getting any redemption any time sure and i am so grateful.
there's something very funny about how east blue is cut off from the rest of one piece verse. It's both the most normal/easy to live on of the seas but also the most ignorant and easy to propagandise. Like damn people weren't even 100% sure devil fruits existed hsvsusgdjd.
the delicious character foils that usopp and kuro are....usopp lying as a defence mechanism and for selfless reasons such as to make kaya happy vs kuro lying for his own gain and to take advantage of kaya.... lying alone does not make someone evil, it's how you use your lies that determinates it.
Usopp was beating THE FUCK out of Kuro for insulting his bastard father and i think that's not discussed enough. Usopp can and will throw hands when people insult the people he cares about the most and no matter how late he gets into the fights he always in the end choose to fight along with the strawhats. The "usopp is a wimp that never fights back" is such a disingenuous take for a character with a theme of getting over your fears especially when his most quintessential arc is that between his fears and defending the people he loves, he always chooses the latter.

usopp is genuinely one of the most interesting characters in one piece and it saddens me how people dismiss him or don't explore his psychology bc they purposefully misunderstand his character or don't find him as attractive as other characters ( cough cough racism ).
rewatching syrup village and it's crazy to see how on the nose ( no pun intended) usopp's lies are not just a core of his personality but a trauma response to him being an orphan. Him starting to pathologically lie around the time Banchina died as a way to cope with grief (and later on depression and self esteem issues) and then he never stopped bc it's his defence mechanism. Very similar to Nami's kleptomania and need to have control over money / her anger issues which are both core parts of her character but also trauma responses and Zoro's/Sanji's constant need to stay strong and inability to be vulnerable. I love how Oda writes the strawhats and especially east blue five's personalities being directly affected by their childhood ( and childhood traumas :(()
