Chad Hugo / JUMPUPW!NYA (feat. Tierra Whack & Leikeli47)
Produced by Chad Hugo & Cadenza
2026
It was within me all along...
With the recent announcement of their upcoming debut album In Endless Awe & Agony releasing Nov 6 via Pack. Records, Filipino-Australian musical artist daine chats with Tumblr about the creative decision-making behind the highly anticipated project, their personal connection to blogging, and the musical world-building they're bringing to life through deeply intimate self-reflection. Check it out below ⬇️ and be sure to catch daine's newest single "Love Love (Love Love)".
Tumblr: You kicked off your debut album era with "PQC" in June. What made that the right song to introduce this project to the world?
daine: I think it’s a song so immediate in a pop way that it would knock people on their ass. I wanted to wake everyone up a little bit with something that feels really nostalgic and fresh at the same time. It was the first song I wrote for the record and it happened to be the perfect lead single. Funny how these things just work organically.
Tumblr: Your blog feels like an extension of the sonic world you’ve created in your music. How did you get started on Tumblr and how have you used it to form your visual identity?
daine: I have a personal tumblr that I’ve been almost documenting my personality through since I was 13. It felt like such a magical place as an early teen and definitely helped me build out all my mood boards. Where would we be without tumblr girls?
Tumblr: Last year, in your interview with Rolling Stone alongside Ninajirachi, you said you weren't sure you were ready to make an album. What changed, and what can you tell us about your debut?
daine: Good pickup. I think there is never going to be a good time. I forced myself to do it because it’s now or never. I think I was just self conscious and under confident in my ability to execute something creatively cohesive… But it was within me all along. The vision and feelings that make up this record have been brewing for 23 years. It’s a beautiful culmination of the individuation process of existence and expansion. I feel so lucky.

Tumblr: How has Tumblr helped you connect with your audience in ways that feel different from other platforms?
daine: Tumblr feels like a little bit less IRL if that makes sense. You can be more abstract and more yourself. It’s a more creative visual artistic style platform rather than a social performance of dick swinging and clout chasing I feel…
Tumblr: If someone scrolled through your Tumblr before hearing your music, what do you hope they'd understand about you as an artist?
daine: Well, if they went through my personal tumblr they’d think I’m maybe mentally ill, an aesthete, slightly perverted but with good taste. If they scroll through my artist tumblr they’d probably understand the type of world building and visual direction I like. It’s interesting how different blogs belonging to one person can show different sides.

Tumblr: Are there any easter eggs fans should look out for on your blog as you continue to roll out this project?
daine: Mmm I like putting journalling & lyric excerpts on there. A deeper dive into the thinking behind the songs. I don’t think anyone’s really read any of it so far but I’ll keep posting in case someone does!
Be sure to follow daine on Tumblr for more music updates!

Happy Moon Landing Day! ❤️👩🚀🌛
Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
It’s July 20th. That’s the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. I’m ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and I’m going to have a goddamn potluck. You’re all invited.
Hey. Hey. Tumblr. Ides of March ppl. We can do this
Hell yeah moon holiday
Ooh coming up we should celebrate
Crushed so many of these @culture POP soda. Thanks for keeping us hydrated during the greatest week of my life
And I got to keep it true, and I got to see it through...
Coming off back-to-back releases of "Machete Summer" and "Is Loving Really Bad?", NYC-native musical artist Liim shares with Tumblr the creative inspiration behind his recent music, how he was first introduced to blogging, and what the summer season has in store. Read below ⬇️ and if you haven't already, check out the music video for "R.I.P Peace" filled with childhood and internet nostalgia.
Tumblr: You just released your new song “Machete Summer” along with a performance with Colors Studios. Can you tell us about the creative inspiration behind this project?
Liim: The inspiration behind this song comes from me reminiscing on my youth. I was outside whalin every single day and I don’t miss it but I appreciate it. Also the song is about seeing someone I grew up with chase someone with a machete down Amsterdam Ave.
Tumblr: Your music video for “R.I.P Peace” was inspired by Blood Orange’s “Champagne Coast.” Are there any other artists who have had a significant impact on you throughout your career?
Liim: I’d say Andre 3000 and Stevie Wonder have had the biggest influence on how I see music. They are my top 1 artists side by side.
Tumblr: You’re very active on your blog and through it have built a distinct visual identity. How did you get started on Tumblr, and how do you now use it for self-expression and community connection?
Liim: A friend of mine put me on to Tumblr and I just liked that I could post stuff nobody else would see on my main accounts, more exclusive if you know you know kinda vibe.
Tumblr: Later this summer, you’ll be performing at All Points East festival in London amongst a lineup of some great names in music, including fellow Tumblr artist Sade Olutola. How do you typically prepare for a performance like this? What are you looking forward to the most?
Liim: You know I should probably prepare more from my performances but I tend to do like one or two rehearsals and wing it most of the time. I always land on my feet tho.
Be sure to follow Liim on Tumblr for more music updates!

Today in [tumblr] history: On July 13, 2017, Tumblr appeared as an $800 Jeopardy! clue in the category, Webby Award Winners.
The clue was "Best User Experience, 2013: this site with 337 million blogs but no 'E'"
Deleted accounts can now be recovered up to 30 days later
We’re making a big change to how account deletion works on Tumblr, and we’re really excited about it, because this is something that some of you have been requesting for… well… a literal decade.
Before today, when you deleted your Tumblr account, it was immediate and permanent. Occasionally, this resulted in Very Sad Times. Even though we’ve tried to make it super difficult to accidentally delete your account, this is something that still happens a lot. Like, a lot. There’s also plenty of folks who delete their account on purpose, but then regret it shortly afterward. Worst of all, if your account was hacked, and then deleted by the hacker, there was no way to get it back.
All of these problems are *poof* no more. As of today, when you delete your account, we will keep your data for 30 days. Your account will remain recoverable during that time, and you can contact us within that 30 day window if you’d like us to restore your account.
Eventually, we hope to make this process a bit easier, and allow you to restore your account with a single click of a button. For right now, though, you’ll need to contact us via tumblr.com/support and choose the category “Account Access” > “I have deleted my account or blog by accident”.
FAQs
How do I delete my account? Does that process look different now?
You can follow the steps here to delete your account on the web or through the mobile app, which works pretty much the same way as before. You’ll notice we’ve updated the confirmation screen to reflect the new process, though.
Does a deleted account still appear on Tumblr during this 30 day window?
Nope. As soon as you submit the request to delete your account, all of your blogs will no longer be accessible (they’ll 404), no one will be able to message you, your posts will no longer appear in search results, and you won’t be able to log in anymore. This happens right away, not 30 days later. Deleted accounts still behave exactly as they always have.
What about my email address and username? Will those become available again immediately after account deletion, like they did before?
Notably, no, they will not. In order to make it possible for the account to be restored during the 30 day window, the username and email address must remain associated with the account during that time. So they won’t be available to register again until 30 days after you’ve deleted your account.
If you’re deleting your account, and you already know that you’d like to use the same username or email address on a new account immediately afterward, we recommend that you change your username and email address before deleting the account. That way, they will become available right away, instead of being on hold for 30 days.
What if I’ve accidentally deleted one of my sideblogs, but not my entire account?
If you delete a sideblog, it will be deleted right away, and cannot be restored. We can only restore an entire account (which will restore all of its blogs along with it).
Is this feature retroactive? Can you restore the account I deleted two years ago?
As much as we would like this to be possible, the answer is no. We still haven’t perfected the art of time travel, so all accounts deleted before today are still deleted for good. This new change will only apply to accounts which are deleted after this announcement is posted.
Where can I learn more about the account deletion process?
You can check out our support documentation and Privacy Policy. Both have been updated to reflect these changes.
