Vampires & Friends End Up On Another Murder Mystery Train! [Jan 22, 2026]

Abolish: Oh no.

Bekyamon: Oh, he's just - Hello.

Abolish: Hello.

Bekyamon: Are you leading me into a trap?

Abolish: Yeah. [Gunfire]

Bekyamon: [falls dead]

Reiah and Alaric are killed and maybe that is just a risk that comes in the shared line of work, but they're still mourned, still grieved for. And for some, they would've maybe just been colleagues, but for others they would've been closer. Friends, confidants, war buddies. Reiah and Alaric had likely both saved others' lives on numerous occasions.

So Reiah and Alaric are dead, and they are buried, and Abolish is taken off to the church orphanage. The last living legacy of their friends is taken far away, and at least part of them has to be relieved at that. That Abolish is safe, and he is away from that life.

But then Morcant takes him in. Perhaps he'd had a long-running mission he'd needed to complete before he could, perhaps it'd taken time for Thornvale to be a place suitable for a child, perhaps others had wished to step up and care for Abolish but had been unable to for various reasons. Abolish is no longer away from this life, but maybe he never could be really.

Abolish grows and is told about how the world truly is, about what his parents did, what killed them, and what they were fighting for. He begins to train, to fight the same fight that Reiah and Alaric had. On one hand, he's going to be prepared in case anyone or anything comes for him, but he's also going to be put into danger.

Abolish begins being sent on missions, and while they are easier ones, there is still a danger. Presumably, for some, he's accompanied by other members. Do you think they look at him, thinking of his parents? Noticing the similarities between him and them? Or perhaps only noticing the ways in which he isn't? He's not even fully grown, but he's chosen this life and begun to walk the path.

Even with them sending him on easier missions to begin with, at some point he's going to be in danger. Maybe bad information leads to him having to truly fight an active threat for the first time before he's even meant to be sent on that kind of mission. Maybe instead someone has to actively work out the day that they're willing to send the only child of their dead friends into a situation that he may not return from.

Abolish continues to be a part of the organisation, the last living Veylocke. Becoming an accomplished hunter in his own right with his own set of achievements. He's been sent out on so many missions and his kill count has to be rising even if he is trying to resolve things peacefully. To resolve issues without just resorting to violence against the same beings that killed his parents.

Abolish is sent to Oakhurst on what should be a simple mission. He just has to find some old books and build graves for his parents. He fails to meet back with the organisation at the pre-arranged date. They try to check on him, to see if he's even alive, but the barrier stops them from doing that. This continues for months. Surely in that time, they must worry. Abolish is competent, yes, but anyone has their limits. Abolish was meant to pay his respects to his parents, but he may have instead just joined them and there is no way to tell.

Abolish eventually emerges from Oakhurst, exhausted and exasperated, but alive. The organisation now has several more vampires to be keeping an eye on, but they've got one of their members back fully alive; even managing to get those cure books that he was sent there for. On those times that Oakhurst is checked in on, some of them would have to include a visit, even if brief, to the monument for the Veylockes.

The cure is worked out completely, a groundbreaking achievement for the organisation. Vampirism is no longer something that a person is locked into for an eternity. They keep doing experiments regarding it and realise that they could make a person into something that would have many of the advantages of being a vampire without those disadvantages. Abolish is practically the perfect candidate for it: he's a highly talented hunter, actual vampirism is impossible for him now, and he did get them the cure books to begin with. Maybe the organisation has nobody else they could use this experiment on, at least not so easily.

How do you think they feel about Abolish? Proud of him for being such a competent member of the organisation? Ashamed that they let the orphaned child of their friends into a life of such risk and such little normality? He's keeping up the legacy of the Veylockes, of Reiah and Alaric, of the organisation as a whole. They're never going to see what it'd be like if he aged to be 30, nor anything past that.

Abolish Veylocke is 10 and freshly orphaned; there has been a great loss, but his very survival and continued existence is a silver lining at least.
