thinking about ianthe and harrow sacreligiously indulging each other by using last names, sinning and scrambling for scraps of the pre-canonized selves neither of them thought they would miss. the selves that were tied down by something as ephemeral and ridiculous as filial piety and blood. it’s over and done and we can’t go back and don’t tell god but please just say my name out loud

re-reading harrow the ninth and understanding what is actually happening is so funny cuz harrow will be fighting for her life and gideon is just like "yeah so that part of the sword is called the pommel by the way. in case you were curious. you keep getting that wrong"

I love this series so much. Just started the audio books again.

Palamedes's sexuality is very funny to me because I thought about it and I realized that he's presumed straight probably mostly because he is one of only 3 prominent male characters in the series and has never interacted with either of the others. He has no opportunity to be gay. Gideon the Ninth probably fails the reverse bechdel test and that's iconic.

Honestly I don't think it passes that test until the part in Harrow when Augustine and G1deon are sparring, and even then it's only because we assume that's not really Pyrrha driving.
