This is why I left Tumblr. I joined as a gay rights blogger in the hopes that one day “gay” wouldn’t even be a label. It would just be normal to love someone of your own gender. I just wanted people to leave each other alone regardless of who they love or don’t love or what have you. But tumblr has taken this shit to such an unhealthy and ridiculous level. Demis, you are not an abnormal sexuality that is discriminated against. No one has ever kicked their child out of the house for only wanting to have sex with people they already know well. That’s… absolutely ridiculous… that is not a sexuality at all. It’s just a thing that a lot of people (especially those raised more conservatively) have always done. This level of self-victimization -while states like Kansas are passing laws that allow businesses to kick out gays and lesbians - is fucking insulting. Demisexual (along with otherkins and tranethnic or transabled, etc etc etc) is just a form of pathetic attention seeking.
Stop. Just stop. Not every single quirk or slightly different personality trait you have is something you need to box up and label. Everyone has idiosyncrasies, it’s normal and natural. Just like being gay is normal and natural. Sexuality doesn’t matter to “others” until you bring in someone else. You won’t be kept from getting married to your demisexual partner and no asexual will be kept from seeing a loved one in the hospital. Remember that. Remember that people judge what they see, not what you tell them.
TL;DR - a fancy title won’t make you special, unique or a victim of anything. Please grow up.
