Though if we do consider the facts (Essek is a lying liar who lies so who knows if he was telling the truth about the Bazzoxan situation given he lied to the Nein about other information that was verifiable by talking to literally anyone else in the upper dens; also the animated canon shows him with his mother and Verin but doesn't deign to include his father) and want to throw out some crack suggestions, we do know one elf who was in Wildemount at the time, firmly in the political scene, and perfectly willing to quietly cross borders for his own bewildering purposes. And I'm just saying, we've never seen him and Essek's father in the same room........ π€
Of course the damning problem with this is that Ludinus Da'leth absolutely does not have the game to pull a nigh-immortal bisexual bad bitch who has spend more than a millennium surrounded predominantly by hot women. He simply does not.
there is this really specific thing that very Online women of a certain age (mostly older millennials and younger gen x in my experience) who are married to a man will do where they will refer to their husbands as "Mr. (Part of My Username)"
so like if the username is something like "dancingwithbears" they'll refer to their husband as "Mr. Bears"
i think it is extremely charming
everyone who is not currently in the process of moving please pause and take a moment to be grateful that you're not currently in the process of moving

i'm getting the sense some of you are not actually forklift certified.
well damn . egg on my face
THE PLOT THICKENS @averagejoey2000 explain yourself
I can't believe this is how I'm finding out that I got a scam forklift cert.
I took the cargo ops class at school but my teacher explained that it doesn't give a certification and I'd only be okay for ship's crane and the school forklifts. she said I could take an online exam and get my cert. I paid 60 bucks.
I'm googling and I'm seeing a lot of resources saying that the online programs cover the classroom part of the exam but not the in person practical aspect.
29 CFR 1910.178 (l)(2)(ii)
but I did the in person practical shit at school.
the back of the card even had fancy numbers on it. I couldn't have known that this isn't the one. this website sounded more official than certifyme.net, and there wasn't one with a .gov address.
so, I emailed OSHA, and they said that so long as I live and work in California, there's no such thing as forklift certification. I have to be told how to do it every time I get the job.
Update: I took a certification class in shipboard Material Handling Equipment at my federal job. *now* I'm forklift certified, but only on ships and piers and only for this company, but also rated to forklift explosives and hazardous materials. Also I'm a woman now.
Black Character Designs
Im taking a gamble with this, i did this on my toyhouse but im curious what the results would be on tumblr.
Do You Feel Black Characters Are "Harder" To Draw?
No
Yes
If you picked yes, please explain why you feel this way.
If you comment please remember to use BLACK if you specifically are talking about Black people, dont substitute it for Poc when you mean Black. This post is also NOT a confessional, please be respectful.
Decided to post the questions along with this
β If you find Black characters harder to design, why do you feel this way?
β Do you think its important to learn to draw black characters?
β What are things you should avoid doing when designing Black characters?
β Do black character designs stop at human\humanoid designs?
β For Black users only, while everything is certainly the answer, is there anything specific you'd like to see more of in black character designs?
You can answer as many as you like, just dont answer the last one if your not Black.

On Saturday I said to my partner, as I have said for months, "A ten thousand dollar a year raise would solve so many of my problems."
As of this morning I was reluctantly looking for jobs because I love my job and don't want to leave it, but see: $10k raise problem solver.
As of noon today this was no longer an issue, because my boss called me with the news that I was getting a $10K merit raise.
I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. This is roughly $200 extra per paycheck. Enough to pay off debt faster, rebuild my savings, and spend a weekend a month in Milwaukee getting obscenely laid. The sex I'm going to have on $200 extra per paycheck. You can't even.
May all of you get the $10K raise your soul has yearned for. And whatever level of sex you can be satisfied with for $200.
hey bestie i think ur post might be charmed 'cause you aren't gonna fuckin believe what happened today
happy disability pride month to mean cripples, nasty addicts, people with down syndrome who arent nice and talk constant shit, wheelchair users that WILL run you over, autists that dont care and arent about to pretend to, people who lie to their psychiatrists, people that sit on the floor in public places with no benches, amputees that lie profusely about "what happened", ; to the "noncompliant", the "drug seeking", the "mean", the "difficult" and the "undeserving", and so on and so forth, i love us all and we deserve the world actually mwah mwah
to people that hide contraband in their assistive devices. to people that do party tricks they arent supposed to and people who will spit on you if you ask them to do party tricks. to people that weaponise the infantalisation of disabled people for their own purposes (theft et. al.). to the people who "misuse" their medication and people who dont take it at all. to my mother, who takes out her hearing aids when she doesnt want to hear shit anymore but will still pretend to be listening so you dont catch on. to people who sleep all the time and to people with "abnormal" circadian rhythms who are unwilling to alter their sleep/wake cycle to best appeal to societal (and moral) expectations. to people that complain loudly about inaccessibility and refuse to try and "make it work". to people that charge money for invasive questions and people that pretend not to understand the question at all.

Went to take this picture of this insane bigfoot sex sign and only after opening my camera did i notice the entire flock of little chickens chilling in the dirt. life is good again
is this normal
anytime i see a person in public giving off indications that they're nervous (biting nails scratching their face etc..) i grab them by the shoulders and throw them really far away
calling in to sing the praises of your historical queer scifi database! as part of my personal summer book bingo, I'd set a prompt to read a scifi novel from 1970 or earlier, and I was so stoked to open your blog (planning on trawling for recommendations/book discussions for this exact square) and was delighted to find that in the pinned post. I have half a dozen books that caught my eye in a short poke about, and am a third of the way through babel-17! (shout out also to the local public library for having an audiobook immediately available). thank you so much for this resource! very excited to foray into a bit older scifi
YESSS i'm so happy to hear that! i hope you enjoy babel-17 :] (and if you do, delany's nova and empire star are also delightful, though not explicitly queer - i especially loved empire star, which is also a very, very loosely connected companion novella to babel-17)
I'll add them to my list!
I enjoyed babel-17 quite a lot, especially having just gotten a linguistics degree. I am kind of over sapir-whorf sci fi as a general rule, but despite that I still liked it a lot
On my instagram Iβm doing a monthly book highlight, where I share one of my all time favourites in the hopes more people will read them (and because theyβre kind of like required reading if you want to know River better). Anyway I thought it would be fun to share here too.
This months book is Camp Damascus by Chuck Tingle, a book I originally read back in 2023 before I even started reviewing the books I was reading, so this review is brand new.
dang thank you for these kind words i love this analysis.
this touches on something that i have always thought was interesting about CAMP DAMASCUS. its something i am VERY proud of, but that some folks dont seem to notice
the MAGIC TRICK i attempted to pull with camp damascus was to use language and characters and tone to make it feel like a YA book when it is techincally not, and the reason for doing this was to, as this reader says:
'It's a really smart way to address the way cults and organised religion will suppress people and purposefully keep them as naive and innocent as possible in order to control them. And I love how the wholesome, coming of age vibe is suddenly wildly thrown off course with this sudden, shocking violence.'
looking back now, a few years after the release of CAMP DAMASCUS, it is funny how a few folks just did NOT get this at all, and would kind of TALK DOWN on the writing style of this book as if it was unintentional. honestly i could write a whole FIFTY PAGE THINK PIECE on the fact that if you are a neurodivergent artist people will basically always assume that something unusual or atypical about your art CANT POSSIBLY be an intentional maneuver and MUST be a mistake or a lack of technical skill (the old OF COURSE AN AUSTIC PERSON DIDNT MEAN TO DO THAT)
anyway this is a GREAT review thank you so much buckaroo. i am glad you enjoyed and really honored that NOW this book seems to be more understood. these days people are able to kind of see the magic trick for what it is. very cool. love to see the way art evolves over time
pick up that non-fiction book
not all of us can live in fantasy 100% the time like i see some people on here do and it's refreshing to learn something new. its been philosophy, essays, and history for me and i feel much more at home on planet Earth for it knowing that people have been struggling and wishing similarly for millenia.
its not that fiction doesnt have its place, its important and healthy to exercise the imagination, but non-fiction can do so much to boost and supplement that. if not for yourself, for your art or for the people you're around
"representation matters!" but you wont read or engage with non-fiction works about any demographic outside your own
this version of the post doesnt seem to be getting much traction but this is arguably the most important reason why we should be reading nonfiction in addition to fiction
Stamp of approval
