The cold leaves crunched under my feet as I walk around the dark, cold, green forest. The sun was fading away in the distance slowly over time as I continued to make my way back home to my cabin, it was best to be home before it gets too dark for safety reasons. Witch hunters. They often roamed the forest near the evening to attempt to find witches to kill for their pleasure. Although I would have a good chance of surviving, I wasn’t exactly the strongest or powerful witch out there. My cabins comes into sight in the distance and I slowly started walking faster, eager to be in the warmth by my fireplace. I originally went out to gather some berries for my food storage but slowly changed into admiring the beauty of the forest. I got to my front door and unlocked it walking into my living room. “ Mama, I’m home!” I shouted into the house, nothing but silence was heard. Mama should still be home considering my dad was on a work trip to get more money. I hung my cloak onto the hanger and made my way to the kitchen where I find a sight I wasn’t expecting. My mom body laying on the floor with blood surrounding her with an arrow where her heart was. Someone killed her. Millions thoughts runs through my brain as I stumbled quickly over to my mother body with tears glossing my eyes. I placed my hands on her face and a choked sobs lets out before I fully break down. How was I supposed to tell my father what had happened? How was I supposed to tell him his wife of 15 years was gone? That somebody so evil killed her without any reason. My heart clenches at the thought and I can feel my lungs gasping for air to fill my lungs but it never comes. When I looked up, I noticed a woman figure approaching and I immediately puts my guard up. “ who are you?! How did you get into my house?” I said to her but all she gives is a sympathetic look in her golden brown eyes. “ I am sorry. I am Rio, Lady Death.” She told me while bending down onto her knees next to my mom body. She is holding onto some flower in her hands and her faces showed bones. I remember my mom telling my stories of Lady Death and how she had encountered her when her sister died. My lips quivers when I realized why she was here and I looked back down at my mom face where no sign of her usual happiness remained. Nothing but emptiness. Like no one was ever there before. I run my fingers gently over her eyes closing them before I back away and meets Rio gaze, “ you can take her now, I know it’s your job” I tell her before shakily standing up and noticed I have bloods all over my blue dress. I can tell she feels bad but she does her job nonetheless. She takes my mom body with her before she disappeared taking everything I ever loved with her. Sure I loved my father but it wasn’t the same. I walk to my mom bedroom before sitting on the floor staring at her items, everything she ever loved is within these walls. The house has never been more quiet like now, I kept praying for this sick twisted nightmare to be never, but it never happens.
