Peppermint Tea
Effective for easing bloating (a common companion of Aunt Flo), menstrual cramps and fatigue, the cooling peppermint tea is a powerful ammunition that you can arm yourself with.
Now, the secret ingredient we are talking about here is menthol.
Menstrual cramps are commonly caused by contractions and spasms of our uterus muscles. Therefore, with its anti-spasmodic properties, peppermint tea helps to treat the muscles in the walls of the uterus. Apart from relieving discomfort caused by your cramps, it is also commonly used as a stress and fatigue reliever. Drink 1 cup of peppermint tea 2-3 times a day before and during days of your menstruation and you can expect to experience a major improvement in your mood and cramps.
Cinnamon Tea
Similar to peppermint tea, cinnamon has anti-spasmodic properties that helps to reduce cramps and menstrual pain. As an added bonus, it also works great as an anti-inflammatory which means that it is able to offer pain relief for your cramps!
To make cinnamon tea, you can simply add cinnamon to some water and boil it for 15 minutes. For some sweetness, add in your preferred choice of milk or honey. That said, if cinnamon tea is not the thing for you, you can always opt to sprinkle them on to your smoothies/ porridge/ pancakes and experience the same benefits!
Red Raspberry Leaf Tea
Red raspberry leaf cleanses the blood of the excess hormone and minimises any hormonal imbalance. Containing both fragarine and tannins, this tea will aid you in your combat against PMS symptoms such as cramps, nausea and diarrhea.
For heavy bleeders, this tea also helps to tighten the muscles in your pelvic region which also helps to reduce the cramps that are caused by spasms. For relieving those nasty PMS symptoms, simply start having them 1-2 weeks before your period and continue having them through your period to slow down the blood flow.
Chamomile tea
Chamomile tea not only helps with bowel movements but it is also known to help ease menstrual cramps and bring crankiness level down a notch!
(Source)
I can confirm that drinking raspberry tea is AMAZING for helping with cramps. A cup of that and some naproxen in the morning and I can go the whole day without feeling too much like trash. Even on day one when my cramps can be debilitating this little trick makes it bearable. Not to mention the raspberry gives me a little boost of energy when loss of blood has me feeling exhausted.
My doctor was actually the one who recommended this to me, but itâs always good to check with the medical professional you visit because everyoneâs body is different!
This scrolled past my dash just as Iâm about to sip on my freshly brewed peppermint tea.
This is perfect, I started yesterday
Reblog to have something good happen at 1:42 tomorrow
All that's been happening is bad...maybe this will work
Remember in 1993 when Jurassic Park was likeâŚthe end all, be all of special effects?
not gonna lie that still looks intimately real
Iâm still somewhat convinced that someone sold their soul to create the special effects in Jurassic Park because that shit is over 20 years old and it still really, really holds up, better than the stuff in a lot of current movies, even.
Fucking witchcraft, man.Â
fucking look at this shit though
Literally see this post flying around with a few different responses added to the bottom each time so Iâll say it for this one myself:
THEY ACTUALLY BUILT A GIANT MASSIVELY DETAILED FUCKING ANIMATRONIC T-REX FOR ALL OF THIS THATâS WHY THE EFFECTS ARE SO GOOD. CAUSE IT AINâT CGI. AND IT AINâT GUY IN A COSTUME. ITâS A BIG FUCKING ROBOT DINOSAUR. AND EVERY PART IS DESIGNED TO MOVE. IT COST LIKE HALF THE BUDGET OF THE FILM.
amazing
And they had the film it in small increments, especially in the outdoor scenes, because the rain fall kept soaking into the âskinâ of the rex and would slow down and mess up its movements. So they would stop filming and have a crew out there drying off this massive, fake dinosaur, and then theyâd start filming again until it was too wet. Repeat until the end of the scene.
They used animatronics and detailed costumes for most if not all of the dinosaurs in the first movie.
The triceratops for instance, was also animatronic.
And the raptors were dudes in suits. I shit you not.
One of my favorite anecdotes Iâve read on tumblr is how the t-rex robot from Jurassic park would malfunction while it was drying out. How did it malfunction, you might wonder?
Motherfucker randomly started moving.
So apparently if you were on the jp set you would sometimes hear people screaming bloody murder even though they were all well aware that it was a giant animatronic puppet and wouldnât actually, you know, eat them.
(link to said post about malfunctioning t-rex)
Did not know this, had to reblog for awesome movie history insights.
So, I knew about the animatronics bit but I did not know the raptors were guys in suits and the malfunctioning t-rex sounds terrifying.
And i just googled malfunctioning t-rex and was not disappointed. Apparently in order to put the skin on over the steel frame a guy had to crawl inside the t-rex while it was turned on and glue the skin down. And if somebody turned the t-rex off or the power went out the guy in the t-rex stood a very real chance of getting mangled and killed by the hydraulics.
So of course, the power goes out.
And this guy is still in there gluing the skin down.
Apparently the way to survive getting sheered to death by huge sheets of metal while youâre inside a giant t-rex robot is to curl into a ball and hope for the best.
And this guy hoped for the best and got it.
Some other people on stage pried open the t-rex jaws and glue guy crawled out of its mouth and was totally okay.
This is getting better and better.
I think they only had like 6 minutes of CGI
Iâm just waiting for the T-Rex to come to life and leave its stand.
@spinosaurus-the-fisher is this the kind of content you love?
Realism comes at a cost, it seems.
i mean ok but why has nobody posted this:
Itâs a three piece raptor suit.
Old movies had the best special effects
The thing about this that gets my special effects nerd going is the fact that EVERY single dinosaur was sculpted by artists based on the current existent archeological evidence of the time.

@shepfax
Even better than that, this movie ADVANCED our best understanding of dinosaurs at the time. Â They were blowing out a budget bigger than anything Hollywood had ever seen, and along with employing almost the last hurrah of incredible physical FX, they had a bank of those newfangled digital SFX computers. Â Nobodyâd ever really created convincing dinosaurs in a movie before. Â Itâd all been stop-motion animation, and even when the models were exquisitely crafted, you could just tell there was something OFF about them. Â Spielberg wanted THE BEST DINOSAURS EVER, and he figured on using the cutting edge of digital modeling and animation technology to build them for him.
So they got hold of some of the best paleontologists they could find and said, âWe want you guys to take this tech that your labs could pretty much never afford and use it to build us the most realistic, accurate dinosaur models the world has ever seen.â
The paleontologists knew an opportunity when it bit them in the ass.  They plugged in everything they knew about dinosaurs, all the skeletons and their best guesses about soft tissue and all that.  And when theyâd created those dinosaur models, they had the computer start moving them as they realistically would with anatomy like that.  One guy took a look at those walking t-rexes and velociraptors (really utahraptors, but whatevs, fam), and he said, âWait a minute, Iâve seen movement like that before.â
He called up film of a chicken walking.  Everyone in the room said, âHoly shit.â
Prior to 1989, the idea that birds were descended from dinosaurs existedâwe knew about archaeopteryx, we knew there was some minor connection thereâbut the idea that DINOSAURS LIVE IN THE MODERN WORLD AND THEY ARE CALLED BIRDS was not pre-eminent. Â Jurassic Park changed our scientific understanding of dinosaurs.
That paleontologistsâd be Kevin Padian. Who is awesome.

Does anybody else remember a time, long long ago, when you could just enjoy things?
You could watch a movie and just appreciate it instead of over analyzing every single scene to make sure thereâs nothing remotely offensive about it.
You could have a favorite character and just like them and appreciate how great they were written and portrayed, without being told youâre terrible because theyâre a villain. Even though theyâre FICTIONAL and most likely were deliberately written to be likable. (Even if they were written as an evil character, I still think you have a right to like them, but maybe thatâs just me)
You could love and be a fan of the actors without having to go full on FBI agent, looking into their backgrounds to make sure they are 100% perfect and had never made a mistake ever.
You could post about said actor without some busybody little fandom cop, slithering into your inbox to tell you(all too happily) that your fave is âproblematicâ (god, I fucking hate that word), and youâre disgusting if you still like them.
Iâm in my 30âs so I remember those good ole days and itâs kind of sad to know, that most of you will never truly know how great that was. Thatâs a time long since forgotten. Bummer.
Yes, I remember that.
You know what I also remember?
How one of my friends was always awkwardly quiet after the rest of his friends group laughed at a âno homoâ set up joke. How he never laughed along when someone used âgayâ to describe something. I remember telling people who didnât laugh that âitâs a joke, whatâs wrong with you?â
I also remember, almost a decade after, crying happily as he married the love of his life who happened to be a man.
I remember laughing at a racist joke in a movie with my cousins, and her one black friend, her best friend, up and leaving because of it. I remember nodding along as she said âugh, she can never take a jokeâ.
I remember asking my cousin about her years later and learning they never spoke after that. Ten years of friendship lost that night.
I remember sitting in a room filled with guy friends, making sexist jokes and being told I was so cool for not being as uptight as âother girlsâ. I remember that slowly losing its shine, and wondering why I felt more and more uncomfortable hearing that.
And then I remember who I was back then, and how I am so glad I am no longer that person.
I remember the first time I apologized to my gay friends for the jokes I used to make. I remember the first time I didnât try to defend how I âdidnât mean to be racistâ. I remember the first time I asked a guy just what is wrong with âother girlsâ, and how I lost some friends that day who I realized were never really my friends.
You know what changed? I changed. Through listening and understanding and admitting my privileges and faults, I changed. Now even if I try, I canât just enjoy something that jokes at the expense of others. I cant watch someone who is unapologetically problematic in media.
I canât enjoy these things because I realize now that their very existence hurts. That the very existence of this type of media perpetuates behaviors and ideologies that can lead to people being abused, harassed, and murdered.
And you know what? Thatâs a good thing. Because the more people who refuse to ingest this type of media, the less audience it has, and the stronger the message becomes that these things - racism, homophobia, sexism, transphobia, etc. - are not things to be waved off. Youâre not edgy or cool for ignoring them. Youâre not âuptightâ by being upset by them. These are real things with very real social impact.
The reality is, there was never a time when everyone could just enjoy things. To be able to say you had that time is to admit the privilege you had at not having to think about problematic behavior because it didnât negatively affect your life.
I donât remember a time where I could âjust enjoy thingsâ. What I remember is a time where I was able to enjoy something by throwing everyone who could be hurt by or suffer from it under the bus.
I remember those times in MY life. And I am so fucking grateful they are in the past.
YES. Thank you for spelling this out.
