well i finished alabaster. i gotta say it was Quite Bad in my opinion. lacking the like complexity/nuance/good writing of tezuka's more famous and adult-oriented works while also lacking the charm of his children's manga. Just kind of an immature, tonally inconsistent, poorly paced hamfisted mess.

there were some good points tho, it was at it's best when tezuka dropped the social commentary angle and was just exploring Ami, Rock, and Alabaster's insane ideologies. 4/10

manga by ishida atsuko based on a 1979 texuka story abt an otaku girl who falls in love with an advertisement. One thing that stuck out to me was that a guy calls her a "female lolicon" at one point?* i guess "shotacon" wasn't a term in use during the period this is set (70s-80s)

*the boy in the ad is like 14
