Disfunctional.
Today, i cried. Like i haven’t done in a looooong time. I did it because my loneliness caught up to me. Ok, from the start. I have been diagnosed with depression, caused by my extreme anxiety, that is caused by my super-ego being a sadistic piece of garbage. For that, i started taking meds about a year and a half ago, and have been trying to work my crazy out through therapy. For the fist time in my life, i have developed a real relationship with a therapist. That is amazing, no complaints here. But on the process, i ended up completely isolating myself, while trying to function as an adult. I shut everyone off, trying to work my graduating ass into a diploma that i honestly never saw as a reality for me (and still don’t), trying to fix my health issues (my knees are no good, my skin is shit, my body sometimes just tries to off itself out of the blue), trying to improve my relationship with my family, and trying to get a new job to earn better money. But the thing is: i can’t do everything alone, and more so i can’t do everything at the same time. But life doesn’t happen that way. Being a functional adult in society means you gotta juggle 300 3ton-like situations. I am not a functioning adult. I am a crying child, scared out of my mind, because nothing makes sense and everything is going wrong, and i have no one to talk to about this. I quit everything in my life trying to make at least uni happen, and now i quit uni because i failed for 1 year and a half straight and have no perspectives whatsoever. I put this as a priority for so goddamn long, i forgot to invest in myself. And now, i have nothing to relay on. I am alone, in a beat-up broken down car with no gas, in the middle of a deserted place, with no maps no phone no connections no money no nothing. I have nowhere to go, and no one to ask for. I am alone. I can’t do this anymore. So i tried quitting everything and learning something completely different, just to try and have one thing i can say “i know this, i can do this”, no matter how small or useless it is. I learned (kind of) the art of cross-stitch. I embroidered some designs and gave them to those i value, because even if i can’t talk to them about this stuff, i know they try their best to be there for me. And also because in those designs, every single stitch is a neon sign of how bad i was dealing with everything, overwhelmed and drowning in crisis. Giving them as gifts is a token of how much those people mean to me. Ok, now i know how to cross-stitch. Cool. Amazing upgrade. Am in said broken car, no fuel, no options, but hey! I can cross-stitch somethings!
Now what? The silence answers me back. Silence, but filled with the screams and cries of my thousand demons, bred by my depression and anxiety.
“Cross-stitch is nice and all, but can it pay your bills? Can it interest someone enough to become a form of income? Can it give you a house, food on the table, finantial stability and satisfy your needs? Is it enough for you to be an adult?”
I am alone. I am lonely. I have nothing going for me. I have not even one meaningful relationship to reach out for, to talk about these kinds of things. To be heard, to be validated, to be understood, and to be talked to. Or just hugged. Supported.
I am a broken car. I am a terrified child. I am a lonely E.T. in a lonely planet with no sun. I am Jack’s sense of failure. I am Jack’s lack of surprise. I am Jack’s dettachment from reality. I am Jack’s exhausted existence. I am Jack’s bitter bile taste that stays in your mouth after puking. I am the heavy weight compressing your throat and lungs, leaving you drowning and suffocating in dry land. I am the loneliness you never wanted to call home.

This adorable little robot is designed to make sure its photosynthesising passenger is well taken care of. It moves towards brighter light if it needs, or hides in the shade to keep cool. When in the light, it rotates to make sure the plant gets plenty of light. It even likes to play with humans.
Oh, and apparently, it gets antsy when it’s thirsty.
The robot is actually an art project called “Sharing Human Technology with Plants” by a roboticist named Sun Tianqi. It’s made from a modified version of a Vincross HEXA robot, and in his own words, it’s purpose is “to explore the relationship between living beings and robots.”
I don’t care if it’s silly. I want one.

So, I'm a Brazilian. Yeah. Not that much into the big party events my folk is known for, but this year... Man... this year... A lot has changed for me, and THIS party in particular, the BLOCO CALANGO CARETA (prude lizard?), part of the carnival on my city, is a huge family-get-together kind of event. My family knows part of the crew that makes this dream-come-true. And this year, I finally am breaking free from my anxiety issues and all that stuff. So, I HAD to have a HUGE COME-OUT. This, ladies and gentlemen, was one of the most amazing days of my life. No joke. This. Those are just pictures of me, the party itself I left registered a bit at my instagram ( @anamaldos ).
This last year, a lot has changed for me. I'm dealing with my anxiety issues, am grabbing all chances I get to live a happier life, while exploring and discovering what I truly enjoy doing and being. These pictures are proof, for me, that joy can be found if you know where to look. I'm a Brazilian, and not that fond of parties. Yeah. But this one, this dream-come-true, part of our famous Carnaval, the Calango Careta group, was one of the most amazing experiences to take part on. Fully moved by friends and families, an explosion of creativity, beauty, music, fun, at the core of my hometown. It often bothered me to be around large groups, but this massive reunion and the fact that I was completely incognito while still calling lots of attention to myself (something else that usually bothers me), well, even getting lost and alone at some points was a fun experience. People laughed, some had their minds blown by my looks (i did the makeup myself), kids freaked out, dogs kept barking at me looking confused af while enjoying being petted, some took pictures of me, others took pictures with me, some just kept telling me I looked like a masterpiece. Thus saying, while in a situation, an event, that once used to make me stressed out and panicking, the way I transformed for it and have been working with my troubles, with the great people that I met and all the mood of the party, I truly had the time of my life. So here goes, for all who struggle, for all who think you could never find amusement on some things, even when you want to: keep on trying. Keep on searching. The right crowd, the right day, the right way, some time might come to you. Maybe all you need is to try being different from what you thing you are or what others think you are, or what you think others might think you are. And maybe, just by doing what you want to do, what you like to do, maybe you'll find the "you" that you really are. A "you" that you like, a "you" that you recognize in the mirror. A "you" that is more yourself than the one you got so attached or chained to for so long.

on a list of dumb shit i know:
the grass in the original shrek movie is not grass. its hair. they used hair textures for the grass bc the actual grass for some reason in their computer modelling programs would not behave like grass so they used hair textures colored green.
elvis presley was a registered DEA officer who asked nixon for the title and was awarded it.
What else?
the great escape artist houdini was living in a time period where mysticism, fortune telling, ouija boards, seances and etc were becoming very common place and trendy. and he fucking hated it so much. so much that he would go to seances in disguise and make some bullshit off the wall shit like “my son died last year can you let me talk to him” and the seance person would be like ‘THIS IS YOUR SON HELLO FATHER’ then he’d rip off his disguise and be like YOU FRAUD I HAVE NO CHILDREN.
He died on Halloween night in detroit and as far as i know every year they hold seances on halloween trying to get in contact with his spirit. If seances work i bet his ghost is just pissed off and not responding out of raw spite.
foxes cant snarl like dogs and wolves cus the muscles in their muzzle dont allowe it so they just drop their jaws and scream.

i didn’t know this til i looked up the video on youtube, but this dude is a super cool and accomplished musician! his name is Rushad Eggleston–wikipedia describes him as “an innovative musician who has changed the way the cello is played,“ but according to his personal website he’s a “cello goblin & otherworldly jester currently touring earth”
i support the tofu eating cello goblin
nobody else sees it as a failure, it’s just you

Would you like to read a book in which this happens?
It’s one of my all-time favorite books. It’s called Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn. He describes it as an “progressively lipogrammatic epistolary fable.”
It is written in the form of letters between the citizens of the fictional island of Nollop, an independent nation off the coast of South Carolina and home of Nevin Nollop, who invented the phrase “the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.” That phrase is written in tiles over a statue of Nollop in their town square, and when one night a storm causes one of the tiles to fall, the council decides that it’s a sign from Nollop that they are no longer allowed to use that letter, in speech or writing, on pain of progressive punishments including public beating and up to banishment.
Then another tile falls. Then another.
The citizens, who are all very attached to their words and writing, mount a campaign to come up with a phrase that uses all 26 letters but is shorter than Nollop’s, thus proving that he was not divine and negating all the edicts.
Because the novel is told in the form of letters the citizens write, and this is the genius part…the author must also stop using the letters as they fall. So the book gradually stops using letters until at one point I think they’re down to just five.
The resolution literally made me get up and dance around the room.
It’s clever, creative, and a not-really-veiled-at-all parable about monotheistic oligarchy. It’s not a long book, you can read it in an afternoon.
GO READ IT RIGHT NOW.
Very rarely is there a book that I must read at any cost This is now one of them
Note: locate book
I actually bought this book because of this post and let me tell you, it was a fucking great decision. Besides having a brilliant concept, it’s also so well written that in the beginning you don’t even notice when another letter is removed. There was one part I had to re-read because I couldn’t believe that there wasn’t a single ‘d’ in the last five pages. Seriously, this book is fantastic
I had to read this for high school and I loved it. I have no idea where my copy went though :(
I’ve owned 5 copies of Ella Minnow Pea because the people I’ve loaned it out to have refused to part with it, ha. Ended up investing in a copy for the Kindle where it’ll always be safe. But yes, it is a very cleverly written book!
