AMONG GODS AND MEN is the prequel to my trilogy The Gemini Letters. You don’t need to have read the trilogy to read this book. It can be read on its own or before picking up the trilogy. I poured my entire being into this novel, which I feel is both a love letter and a burn note about growing up as the second born child. This novel is very much a romance (it’s gay. it’s very gay.) but at its core, it's about stepping out of a sibling's shadow and into the sunlight. And this is my first hardback (yippee!), with a paperback to follow in November.

As an independent author who pays for every aspect of the publishing process out of pocket, from the software used to create the book covers to working with the editors, it would mean a lot to me if you could help me spread the word about this book. Online, in local bookshops, with book clubs, libraries, coffee shops, and so on. And...okay, I don't like asking for reviews, but they help authors become recognized for their work! Because like... Maybe she wanted to. Maybe she would have wanted to do the increased ICE deportations and the wars and the tariffs and the healthcare bans.

Congress would not have let her.

The Supreme Court would not have let her.

Trump gets away with this shit because he has over half of Congress in his pocket. Kamala would have had a handful of people on her side the way Trump does, but even if Dems got hold of congress, there are enough resistant figures (the Warrens and AOCs of the world) that would torpedo anything horrific that required Democrat unity against the generally-resistant Republican side.

The Supreme Court is stacked 6-3 on the side of conservatives. Would they have agreed with some of what she would do, if it were the same as Trump? Sure, but the conservative justices right now are so heavily in favor of just doing what Trump wants that they probably would have ruled against some of the stuff that they let Trump do, if it were Kamala (e.g. the 'it's not illegal if you're the president' bullshit).

Even if we assume Kamala's intentions were just as bad, everything would have been way, way slower to happen because Congress and the Courts would have resisted purely on the basis of her being a Democrat.

Checks and Balances would have worked against Kamala in a way it isn't against Trump.

A Kamala presidency would have been like… stagnant.
