we just found out doing this typically hurts the human body
I always suspected as much #empath
The first photo is from 1956. It shows a Black woman watching members of the Ku Klux Klan (a terrorist, racist, far-right organization focused on white supremacy) walking along a sidewalk in Montgomery, Alabama (USA). I couldn't find the photo's author, but most sources state that it was taken in 1956.
The second photo shows members of the Patriot Front group (a white supremacist and nationalist group, formed in 2017, that openly advocates what they call "American Fascism") traveling on the subway during the 250th anniversary of the U.S. independence in Washington D.C., while a Black woman watches them. The photo is by photographer Cheney Orr, taken on July 4, 2026, 70 years after the first photo.

KICK THE CAN!
Letβs play the biggest game of kick the can on the internet.
To kick the can, reblog it. I wanna see how long this can go on for.
Title: The Pipe of Freedom Artist: Thomas Stuart Smith (Scottish, 1815-1869) Date: 1869 Genre: portraiture, genre art Medium: oil on canvas Dimensions: 106.8 cm (42 in) high x 78.7 cm (30.9 in) wide Location: Stirling Smith Museum and Art Gallery, Stirling, Scotland, UK
Thomas Stuart Smith painted this striking portrait to celebrate the abolition of slavery in both the UK and the US. The man portrayed is enjoying a pipe at his leisure, symbolizing his freedom from enforced labor. Behind him, a yellow notice announcing a slave auction has been partially covered up by a copy of the Emancipation Proclamation.
