This is coming from one of the worse places in my heart; why must I trudge through 11 issues of White Guilt from Nia to get any insight on how Jay, her victim is doing? Like we couldn't do even one full length of those issues to be like "hey, let's give space for Jay to grieve about this"?

We spent time grieving for Nia and for Jon, they were both allowed to be upset without someone trying to minimize or invalidate it. Jay though, he says anything and someone's jumping to insult him or shut him up. Not once has Jay gotten to be like "I am upset", without reprimand.

Nia, immediately justifying herself. Jon, constantly undermining him or shoving his feelings aside. Lori too was insulting him about his mother when she died like, a month ago tops. Absolutely no one has been nice to Jay.

And it sucks.

In the United States the man known as the father of gynecology, J. Marion Sims, built the field in the antebellum South, operating on enslaved women in his backyard, often without anesthesia — or, of course, consent. As C. Riley Snorton has recently documented, the distinction between biological females and women as a social category, far from a neutral scientific observation, developed precisely in order for the captive black woman to be recognized as female — making Sims's research applicable to his women patients in polite white society — without being granted the status of social and legal personhood. Sex was produced, in other words, precisely at the juncture where gender was denied. In this sense, a female has always been less than a person.

There are instances where CGI ages gracefully, and I think the best examples are stylized 2D animation from the 2000’s or so.

Go rewatch Invader Zim. The show still looks shockingly good for being 20 years old, and none of the CGI looks dated, because it’s stylized to fit the look of the show.

INGREDIENTS:

4 hamburger buns, split

1 head green leaf lettuce, leaves separated

1 beefsteak tomato, sliced

20 dill pickle slices

FOR THE CHICKEN

2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 cup dill pickle juice

1 ½ cups milk, divided

1 cup peanut oil

1 large egg

½ cup all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon confectioners’ sugar

Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

DIRECTIONS:

Place a chicken breast on a cutting board. With your hand flat on top of it, carefully slice the chicken in half horizontally. Trim excess fat as needed.

In a large shallow baking dish, combine chicken, pickle juice and ½ cup milk; marinate for at least 30 minutes. Drain well.

Heat peanut oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.

In another large shallow baking dish, whisk together remaining 1 cup milk and egg. Stir in chicken to coat and drain excess milk mixture.

In a gallon size Ziploc bag or large bowl, combine chicken, flour and confectioners’ sugar; season with salt and pepper, to taste.

Working in batches, add chicken to the skillet and cook until evenly golden and crispy, about 4-5 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.

Serve chicken immediately on burger buns with green leaf lettuce, tomato and pickles.
