Do you like intersex activism and speculative biology?? I see a lot of posts suggesting other terms to use besides the h slur but they're not too comprehensive so I wanted to make one!

Most unoffensive terms I've found were flower based!! Important to keep in note though I did try to adapt them to animals as best as I could.

Bisexual/Androgynous/Monoclinous/Synoecious: Individual that has both sexual organs.

Androdioecious: A species that has both male and bisexual individuals.

Dichogamous: A species where sexes develop at different times. Individuals do not need to all change sex in their lifetime, can be circumstance based.

Unisexual: Opposite of bisexual, individual only has one sexual organ.

Dioecious: A species that only has male or female individuals.

Gynodioecious: A species that has both female and bisexual individuals.

Monoecious: A species that only has bisexual individuals. (In flowers this could mean having both female and male flowers or just having bisexual flowers).

Protandrous: Dichogamous, male sex develops before female sex.

Protogynous: Dichogamous, female sex develops before male sex.

Trioecious: Male, female and bisexual individuals. Main source is the Kew Plant Glossary second edition.

Once again reminding people that if you want to make something that has both reproductive capabilities and that is the norm for their species, the term you are looking for is NOT intersex. Intersex is used to describe a variance in what "should" be separated sexual development. If a species is meant to have functional reproductive sets of both types, by its nature its not intersex. The term 'hermaphrodite' for intersex conditions was dropped because it was both offensive and deeply inaccurate. Using intersex as a direct replacement for what it means isn't being polite and avoiding offensive terms, it actively reinforces one of the (many) reasons it was dropped as a term by conflating them as the same thing but 'nicely'

It does explain that mindset that I have always found odd about Latin American racism, which is that (valid!) resentment of the US for being part of the Global North and Imperial Core, while simultaneously sharing so many of its racist, white supremacist beliefs.
