(This is my wheel of the year, it doesn't have to be yours!)
Disclaimer: The Christian holidays between Ash Wednesday and Easter shift every year, depending on the phase of the moon. Easter will always fall on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the spring equinox. Ash Wednesday always falls 46 days before Easter. This particular graphic is based on where Easter fell in 2025; it won't remain completely accurate.
Disclaimer 2, Electric Boogaloo: The Wheel of the Year is a Wiccan practice. It's not rooted in history or long-term folk practices, so you have no reason to celebrate it if you don't like it. I enjoy it, so I use it!
Below the cut is a surface-level look at these holidays. I'm going to start with Yule. It's my favorite season (I was born on Yule!), and it's where the Christian calendar typically begins. Different witchcraft/pagan traditions similarly have a lot of new beginnings at Yule as well. (Ex. the Horned God of Wicca is born at Yule)
I say surface level, but be prepared, it's long!
December 2026
Yule: December 21, 2025
Yule falls on the longest night of the year, when the sun reaches its lowest point in the sky. From this day forward, the light begins to return, and each day will grow a little longer. Yule celebrates the rebirth of the sun and the hope of warmth and life returning to the land.
Traditions include lighting candles or a Yule log to welcome back the sun, decorating with evergreens to symbolize endurance, feasting, and exchanging gifts with loved ones.
Capricorn Season begins: December 21, 2025
During this time, the energy is often characterized by a focus on long-term goals, hard work, and taking a practical approach to achieving success.
Christmas Eve: December 24, 2025
Christmas Eve is the day the Holy Family prepares for the Birth of Christ. We see the tradition of Mary sleeping with the animals (nerding out, she probably wasn't in a stable, but the lower part of a family home. People slept upstairs, animals downstairs. There either wasn't enough room upstairs (unlikely) or she couldn't climb the ladder. Either way, she was surrounded by family)
Traditions include the lighting of an Advent Wreath, or a candle lighting ceremony, as the light is passed from candle to candle, symbolizing the joy the birth of Christ brings to the world.
Christmas: December 25, 2026
Christmas is the day on which Jesus was born. In modern times, it's more of a commercial and family holiday, but in the past, it would have been celebrated much the way we celebrate Christmas Eve.
Celebrations are similar to Yule, feasting, gift-giving, decorating.
January 2026
Aquarius Season begins: January 20, 2026
This period encourages learning, curiosity, and engaging in discussions about the future.
February 2026
Imbolc: February 1, 2026
Imbolc marks the halfway point between winter and spring. Though the land may still be cold and barren, the days are noticeably longer, and the first signs of life start to appear. This sabbat is associated with purification, inspiration, and preparation for growth. It is also closely tied to the goddess Brigid, patroness of healing, creativity, and the hearth.
Traditions include lighting candles, making Brigid’s crosses, cleaning the home, and performing rituals for renewal or fertility.
Feast of St. Brigid: February 1, 2026
I'm bringing up Brigid, since it really feels weird to have Brigid's holiday coincide with the Feast of St. Bridgid, who was (probably!) a real person, but has been often confused and equated with the Goddess. She probably didn't share the same name, and simply founded a monastery. (Justice for actual St. Brigid, tbh, why'd they strip my girl of her name?)
Candlemas: February 2, 2026
Honorable mention, it didn't fit on my graphic, and I have never actually attended a Candle Mass! Candlemass is the day of Jesus's Presentation at the Temple and the Virgin Mary being purified.
Traditionally, you'd bring your candles to the church to be blessed.
Ash Wednesday: February 18, 2026
Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent. Lent is a time in which many Christians choose to give something up, like the 40 days Jesus spent fasting.
Traditions involve getting marked with the sign of the cross in ashes on your forehead, as a symbol of repentance and mortality. The ashes are typically from the burning of last year's Palm Sunday palm fronds.
Pisces Season begins: February 19, 2026
Pisces season is a time for introspection, meditation, and deepening one's connection to their inner self.
March 2026
Ostara (Spring Equinox): March 20, 2026
Ostara celebrates the spring equinox, a moment of balance when day and night are equal before the light overtakes the dark. It marks the true arrival of spring, when flowers bloom, animals return, and the world feels reborn. Ostara honors fertility, growth, and new beginnings.
Traditions include planting seeds (literal or symbolic), decorating eggs as symbols of life and potential, and spending time outdoors in gratitude for the earth's renewal.
Aries Season begins: March 21, 2026
Aries season is a time to embrace new projects, set ambitious goals, and step into new ventures.
Holy Week: March 29–April 5, 2026
I actually have a post on the Christian Witch's guide to Holy Week that I LOVE. But here's a summary about the top 3 Holy Week days.
Palm Sunday: The Sunday before the resurrection (Easter), Jesus is paraded into Jerusalem riding a donkey. He's met with resounding joy; the people think he's going to overthrow the Romans.
Holy Thursday: After days of flipping tables, teaching parables, and denouncing the Pharisees, Jesus and the disciples have The Last Supper, the Passover meal. Jesus prays in the Garden of Gethsemane, and Judas will turn him over to the Roman Authorities.
Good Friday: A bit of a misnomer if you don't believe in penal substitution (note; NOT penile), this is the day Jesus is Crucified. The temple curtain is torn in two, and humankind is invited into a personal relationship with God.
April 2026
Easter: April 5, 2026
"And on the Third Day..." Easter is the day of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. As stated above, Easter occurs on the first Sunday after the full moon following the Spring Equinox. (Feels so witchy!)
Easter is a big church day. Flowers, hymns, treats, the like. I don't personally do much extra for Easter, since I don't believe in "Jesus dying for our sins." Ostara-like celebrations are common from a secular lens.
Taurus Season begins: April 20, 2026
Taurus season is a great time to prioritize self-care, indulge in activities that bring you joy, and cultivate a sense of comfort and well-being.
May 2026
Beltane: May 1, 2026
Beltane is a fire festival that marks the beginning of the fertile half of the year. It celebrates love, passion, abundance, and the sacred union between the energies in nature. It’s a time to honor the life force and the fire within us.
Traditions include dancing around the maypole, jumping over bonfires for luck or purification, crafting flower crowns, and engaging in rituals for love, creativity, and connection.
Gemini Season begins: May 21, 2026
Gemini season is a time for conversations, learning, and exchanging ideas.
Pentecost: May 24, 2026
Pentecost is the Methodists' favorite holiday (guilty as charged). It's the day on which the Spirit descends from Heaven to light a fire under the disciples' asses because they've been living in fear for the last 50 days. Pentecost is celebrated 50 days after Easter, as a result.
Pentecost traditions don't differ any from your typical Sunday service, but the energy of Pentecost feels very different to me.
June 2026
Cancer Season begins: June 21, 2026
Cancer season is a time for introspection, a focus on relationships, and a desire to create a supportive and loving environment.
Litha (Summer Solstice): June 21, 2026
Litha falls on the longest day of the year, when the sun is at its peak. It is a celebration of light, growth, and abundance, as crops ripen and the earth teems with life. Though the days will begin to shorten after this point, Litha honors the fullness of the sun and the blessings it brings.
Traditions include lighting bonfires or candles, harvesting early herbs, spending time outdoors, and celebrating success and vitality.
July 2026
Leo Season begins: July 22, 2026
Leo season is a time for self-love, personal magnetism, a focus on heartfelt connections.
August 2026
Lughnasadh: August 1, 2026
Lughnasadh is the first of three harvest festivals and honors the grain, which sustains life. Named after the Celtic god Lugh, it’s a time to recognize hard work, the fruits of labor, and the cycle of sacrifice and abundance. The cutting of the first sheaf of wheat symbolized both death and nourishment.
Traditions include baking bread, hosting community gatherings or games, expressing gratitude, and reflecting on what you've been cultivating in your life.
Lammas: August 1, 2026
Lammas is not Lughnasadh and Lughnasadh is not Lammas! Lammas is a church agricultural holiday where one brings their first loaf of the season to be blessed, and with its blessing, the blessing for the rest of the harvest.
I don't know of any churches that still celebrate Lammas? I'm sure there are some, I'm just not aware of any.
Virgo Season begins: August 23, 2026
Virgo season is a time for introspection and self-reflection. It's a good time to assess your current situation, identify areas where you can improve, and set goals for personal growth.
September 2026
Mabon/Autumn Equinox: September 23, 2026
Some (backed-up and based) arguments exist as to why we shouldn't call it Mabon. That being said, I put Mabon on my graphic because I didn't want Autumn Equinox twice.
The autumn equinox is when day and night are once again in balance. After this, the darkness begins to grow. The autumn equinox is a time for gratitude, reflection, and release. It acknowledges the need to prepare for winter and to give thanks for what the earth has provided.
Traditions include gathering apples, vegetables, and grains; decorating with autumn colors; donating to others in need; and honoring the balance between light and shadow.
Libra Season begins: September 23, 2026
Libra Season is a time to evaluate your own life and relationships and strive for equilibrium.
October 2026
Scorpio Season begins: October 23, 2026
Scorpio season is a time to to shed old patterns and embrace personal growth.
Samhain: October 31, 2026
Samhain marks the end of the harvest and the beginning of the dark half of the year. It is often considered the Witches’ New Year and a sacred time for honoring ancestors and those who have passed. The veil between worlds is said to be thinnest, allowing for communication with spirits and deeper spiritual insight.
Traditions include lighting candles for the dead, setting out food offerings, wearing costumes to confuse wandering spirits, and practicing divination or introspection.
November 2026
All Saints' Day: November 1, 2026
All Saints Day is a time to honor and remember all who have lived lives of faith. It’s a day for reflection, gratitude, and connection to spiritual ancestors.
Traditions include reading the names of members who have died in the past year, lighting candles in remembrance, and giving thanks for the examples of faith left by those who’ve come before.
Sagittarius Season begins: November 22, 2026
Saggitarius season is a time to expand your horizons, learn new things, or seek out new experiences.

"I don't have a valentine 🥺" ok we'll have you considered our Lord Jesus Christ?? Who shed his blood and scourged his skin for your trespasses??? Our most loving God who will stand at your side through thick and thin?? Who graces and treasures you??? Yeshua??????
doves and pigeons being basically identical scientifically speaking is so important to me.
the dove, the symbol of the Holy Spirit, of God's immeasurable love and mercy come to intercede for us. is the same bird as the common "flying rat" of the cities, the slums, the poor, dilapidated areas that most folk would never willingly go.
even there. there is God. and He comes scruffy and dirty

"saints can't hear your prayers bc they're dead" you do realize that uncomfortably overused statement goes against everything the Jesus taught about salvation right
