The latest in my mini-series of things I see every day which, because I take them as so completely normal and routine, I have never bothered to photograph. To be fair, I have photographed the lock gates close-up but never this full, expanded view!

Living under the approach to one of London's airports, I am completely used to aircraft flying overhead all day. Indeed it is so much in the background, it had never even occurred to me to take a photograph until today! This made me think about how many other things I see every day which, because I take them as so completely normal and routine, I have never bothered to photograph. So my next challenge is to find some more! Shame I photographed that bollard the other day because that could have been one.

Steady Rolling Man was crowned number 1 British Beer of 2026 in the annual Top 50 UK Beer Awards. This pint was actually in the Deya Brewing Company in Cheltenham where Steady Rolling Man is brewed.

When it's a Friday and you are lacking inspiration

Gone seem to be the days when narrowboats had traditional names like Reliance, Elsie May or Dragonfly (or maybe I'm thinking of Fawlty Towers). Anyway I am intrigued at the backstory to this one
