Why is it that every time I google something like "Are olives poisonous to cats" the top results are always like "Fun fact: Cats are carnivores! This means that they eat meat. There is no reason to include olives in a cat's diet. You should feed your cat cat food, which is dry or wet food especially designed for cats. You can purchase this at a store." like is there a single person alive on the planet who's googled "Are blueberry muffins safe for cats" because they're planning on switching their cat to a muffin-only diet??? No, I'm asking because the little bastard somehow popped open the packet while I was putting away the groceries and dragged one under the couch before I could react and now I need to know if I should call the after-hours vet. "Cats should not eat spaghetti." NO SHIT, SHERLOCK!!!! "Try to keep human food away from cats." i live in a studio apartment with a completely silent and permanently hungry apex predator who has the intelligence of a toddler and the desperate Machiavellian cunning of a creature who spent his formative months on the streets. He can already open doors and he is this 👌 close to learning how to open the microwave. He is stronger than me and covered in knives. So im gonna do my best but for the moment i just need you to tell me whether this yoghurt is going to kill my son y/n
I've been using the pet poison hotline's poison list cause it has a search function. It also tells you whether something is mildly, moderately, or severely toxic which can be very handy! It doesn't contain like everything but it might be a good place to start, it also includes plants for fellow houseplant lovers <3
Explore Pet Poison Helpline®s vast knowledge on poisons by reviewing our pet poison list. Explore our top 10 poison and holiday poison lists
For plants specifically, there’s also a wildly detailed set of posts and listings about toxicity on the old, wonderful, Plants Are the Strangest People blog

everyone eat more vegetables NOW!!! and mention the last vegetable you ate in the tags so we're all on the buddy system. I'll start: bok choy
Dad's Scallion Pancakes
make a soft dough (5:3.5 flour to water, 500g:350ml is dad's usual) and knead only until it holds together. there is no leavener in this recipe, I asked.
let rest for 10-15 minutes
chop up a bowl of scallions (you will need to make this recipe a few times to figure out how much you like in the recipe)
roll dough out to a large rectangle roughly 3-5 millimeters thick
pig lard is traditional but really you can use any neutral oil, brush on a uniform layer over the dough
sprinkle some salt over the dough (do your best here dad never measures this one. just remember it's better to undersalt)
sprinkle all of the green onions onto the oily dough as even as you can
roll up the rectangle of dough widthwise
now comes the REALLY approximate part. Dad says that the length of roll you cut off entirely depends on how big your pan/wok is and what the diameter of your rolls are. For instance, if your roll is about 5 cm in diameter and 10 cm in length, you'll get a pancake roughly 25ish cm in diameter, and if you have a pan too small for that it's gonna be awkward to fit. The best I can tell you is cut the rolls longer than they are wide unless you want tiny baby pancakes
next you're gonna take each roll and tuck in the oily cross sections, not unlike wrapping up a bao bun but instead of the pinched ends coming to a point, they're gonna be tucked inwards
from there, you flour up a rolling pin and get to rolling, get them around 3-5 mm thick.
Oil up a pan and fry up your pancakes. Before you flip the pancake, make sure to the oil up the uncooked side. Dad doesn't have a temp to give me but he cooks ours on medium using an induction stovetop
there you have it! you can fill it with whatever savory treats you like, i usually scramble some egg about it but its up to you
i get asked regularly for photos of jpeg and it honestly feels like this every time
i have been informed of how foolish it was to post this without an actual photo of her. my apologies. i present: miss jpeg 🤲
Hey can you guys reblog Cheeseburger so he can take a sunbeam nap on lots of blogs. No other reason I just want you guys to see him.
So, Cheeseburger died on November 21st after an unfairly short battle with an unfairly rare cancer that is rarely seen in cats. I only got to spend a month with him after his diagnosis, and losing him has been the greatest heartbreak of my entire life so far. He was my best friend and my soul cat, and he was there for me when I was completely alone, for twelve long years.
I made this transparent PNG the night he died in preparation for one of the many ways I was going to memorialize him--a surface rug in his likeness that I planned on laying directly in the line of his favourite sunbeam. And I uploaded that PNG here, because this is the website where people post their cats.
I was not expecting the reception I got. Many people have pointed out that this post has more reblogs than likes, and how insane that is in 2025 when reblog culture is at an all time low. I didn't even talk about the fact that Burger passed away in the original post, it wasn't a tearjerker reblog bait or anything like that. People just loved Burger that much, in the same way I fell in love with him at first sight. He was such an ugly kitten.
Anyways, it's really special to me that so many people have reblogged my best friend. I made this PNG to memorialize him in a completely different way, and you all wound up doing just that in ways I never even imagined.
Thank you. Wherever he is, I know the sun is shining.

My whole life I've known that you must leave at least one mistake in your knitting or crochet or tapestry, because spirits/demons can get lost in the perfection of the stitches and be unable to find their way out.
If you don't want a haunted scarf, you have to leave a mistake as an exit point.
This is beautiful but I can't help but think that at least one of these originated with like, someone who fucked up their knitting and managed to convince everyone else it was intentional.
I'm almost certain this is what happened. Because whenever I am close to finishing a crochet project, especially something in the round where each row is more work than the last, and I find a mistake in the last row as I'm stitching into it
The closer I am to finishing and not wanting to undo 2h worth of work to change that one single into a double, the more likely I am to go "well. That's the demons stitch then isn't it", and leave it be.
The demon stitch absolutely gives my ocd toxic perfectionism a loophole to allow something to remain a mistake, which is why I choose to believe in it.
oh, haha. a loophole.
[id: a collection of screenshots:
The idiom "Persian flaw", meaning a deliberate mistake said to originate from the notion that Persian weavers would intentionally leave imperfections in each rug in the belief that only God's creations are perfect, and to weave a perfect rug would be an insult to God.[67]
"Your handmade items should always have at least one mistake, to keep you safe from the fairies." There is also a (disputed) Amish version of this, which is that all handmade items should have a deliberate mistake because only god is perfect. Navajo weavers have a similar tradition, in order to preserve their creativity: After the year 1900, the "spirit line" became a popular element for many traditional Navajo weavers…The traditional weaver became very concerned about trapping their creative spirit within the weaving and not being able to weave in the future. The "spirit line" is a small strand of yarn of contrasting color that flows from the inner design element of the weaving to the outer edge. The custom continues today in many contemporary Navajo rugs.
The Native American women who have traditionally created intricate, beadwoven pieces intentionally string on a bead of the wrong color in a pattern. This bead is called a spirit bead. The spirit bead was placed in an otherwise flawless piece of art as an act of humility, a way of recognizing the inherent imperfection of humans. Presuming the human could create something perfect would be an affront to the true perfection of the gods.[*]
Everyone knows the fae will come and steal away people wearing perfect knitting. By including some mistakes in the finished piece, the imperfection/asymmetry will confuse the fairies, and keep your loved one safe.
"Irish people culturally believe that when you knit something, you knit a piece of your soul into your project. And so Irish knitters purposely knit one mistake into their project so that their soul can escape. Otherwise you're breaking off little pieces of yourself every time you give someone something that you knit."]/end id.

Reblog to save a life... and someone's sanity
I know myself well enough to know I would not be very good at fanbiding and that would mainly frustrate me, so while I love fan binding and admire those who do it, I've never dabbled.
I have never regretted that decision more than I did waking up from the dream I recently had, where I excitedly bought a rare copy of the novel that Goncharov (1973) was based on, opened it up, and found that it was a hollowed out "book safe" for keeping valuables in.
@copperbadge were you looking for the Goncharov novel ?
I tracked down a copy of this invaluable classic and somehow got my hands on a near pristine copy secondhand from the 4th printing. It’s lost the dustjacket, alas, but that means I got it for like £5 and not the £4200 a first edition printing in fine condition goes for.
(Who’s the author? *looks at smudge on spine* uhhhh Mkkhill Montanann)
It looks right at home in my bookcase 🥰
Under the cut: a look inside at what the book holds:
OMG HAHAHA AMAZING! What a find! Truly a vintage treasure. I am dying, it looks fantastic.

Love how tumblr has its own folk stories. Yeah the God of Arepo we’ve all heard the story and we all still cry about it. Yeah that one about the woman locked up for centuries finally getting free. That one about the witch who would marry anyone who could get her house key from her cat and it’s revealed she IS the cat after the narrator befriends the cat.
Might I add:
The defeat of the wizard who made people choose how they’d be to be executed
The woman who raised the changeling alongside her biological child
The human who died of radiation poisoning after repairing the spaceship
The adventures of a space roomba
Cinderella finding Araura (and falling in love)
I don’t know a snappy description but the my nemesis cynthia story certainly lives in my head
hilariously, these are almost all in my fic tag. so, a compiled list from the notes (and some extras):
The God of Arepo (graphic novel 1 / 2 / 3) (ebook)
The Monster of Sentan
The Witch’s Cat
Raise Both Children
Stabby the Roomba (honorable mention)
Cinderella Marries the Prince (comic)
My Arch Nemesis Cynthia
Pirates and Mermaid
Eindred and the Witch
The Demon King
The Cornerwitch
Grandmother Beetroot
Apocalypse Daycare Worker
Grandmother Accidentally Summons a Demon
New Year Saga
A Story About Changelings
Ranger in the King’s Forest
The Difference Between a Hare and a Rabbit
Goblin Men (Canines)
