“seriously,” he whines, feeling rerribly unlike himself (only you would have the ability to make him whine), holding his hand and making some ice for you to take. “it’s like you just use me to eat my ice. did you know that i missed you and you were on my thoughts the entire—“

gray halts when he feels your lips press against his cheek.

lips parting, his eyes follow you as you lean back, the ice he’d made for you held safely in your hands as you beam up at him.

“thank you,” you whisper, warm and genuine.

the sight of you smiling at him like that and the sound of your voice has gray short circuiting, cheeks turning a bright red as you move to happily munch of the ice.

“mm!” you exclaims, giddy and satisfied. “delicious. as always. no other ice can compare.”

and it’s silly and stupid. it’s just ice, but it melts gray’s heart and your words mean so much to him that all he can manage is to smile back at you, eyes flooded with love.

"you're welcome," he muses, watching you with adoring eyes. with the ice happily in your hands as you munch away, gray wraps his arm around your waist, pulling you against his side as he leads you towards a table.

truthfully, he'll give you all the ice in the world if it makes you that happy every time.

JAX

you dont understand jax's jokes at all to the point it lowkey pisses him off

like just understand hes making fun of you omg 😭😭😭😭 hes not even doing it in an ableist way, hes just doing it how he does with everyone else

he doesnt even realize youre autistic til you break it down for him one random day, like, he means no hate when it comes to you being neurodivergent

he places his hate on how naive and oddly emotionally intelligent you are. like how tf you not understand sarcasm but read him like a book??? its weird but sorta in a good way

lowkey picks up stimming from you and does hand flaps subconsciously when hes super stressed / having a high emotional reaction

he deep down feels really bad about your sensory overload in the circus but it takes him literal years to understand this is real so he doesnt like dwelling on how other people feel / the mental wellbeing of others cause wtf is he even gonna do

he usually comes off as selfish to you in the beginning but when you get to know him / get past the transitional stage of learning the circus & everyone in it, you start understanding him, just observing from afar

he tries talking to you in private post ep8 and like attempts to apologize

you are very brutally honest about how you feel about him, its kinda nice

like theres no yelling or seemingly any harshness or desperation behind it, its just pure honesty

and it makes him like you more for some odd reason

ZOOBLE

they sort of understand the sensory overload even if they dont get it the same way you do

the whole reason why they hated their new body was because all of the parts and the gender dysphoria / dysmorphia

but it also caused a lot of sensory overloading and sensory issues, like they just couldnt stop feeling so icky in their own body for the longest time

they keep a close eye on you when youre stimming to make sure you wont hurt yourself, like if youre twisting your hair too hard, flapping your hands too close to other objects / people / yourself, if youre jumping around in a cluttered area etc

they just watch and listen a lot, and pick up on small things just from that

like they pick up on the way you stare at people a lot to understand them, how blunt you are when you speak, how sometimes it takes you a minute to actually process and understand how you feel

when you first arrived, zooble was of course themselves, very sarcastic and also a mix of blunt and angryish

it didnt take long for them to realize you didn't understand their sarcasm and sort of took it to heart and it literally made them facepalm

so they learned the best solution was to clarify when they're being sarcastic for your sake, like irl tone tags lmao

they dont mind making adjustments to accommodate you, theyre just happy that youre allowed to get a little more comfortable yk

RAGATHA

shes very patient with you, esp when it comes to sensory overloads

she'll often bring you to the gun fight losers room since its quiet, dark, and the only thing in there is the water tube and a bench

she loves listening to you talk about your hyperfixations / special interests, like she asks actual questions and seems super interested

she also like doing stims with you, like she randomly picks it up + loves it

helps her get extra energy / stress out

shes obsessed with stimming with you now lmaooo

very much likes the hand flapping and twirling her hair, its way better than pacing or bouncing her leg for some reason

for a while shes very surprised w how blunt you can be but it rlly grows on her

like it gives her a good laugh sometimes especially when youre like partially making fun of someone / sharing your genuine thoughts ab them

youre just unironically funny to her and you start going out of your way to try and be funny for her & miserably fail

but for some odd reason she loves you more cause of it

POMNI

very confused for a while

like doesnt know what to do to help you when youre in a state of distress or anything

shes better at situational awareness than emotional awareness

she speaks w her hands so i have no doubt that's sorta her way of stimming (same) but she doesnt really realize til you point it out to her

she likes listening to you yap about hyperfixations and special interests. i can confirm this w how much she just listens to everyone when they yap to her, like shes just so genuine and so nice man

she keeps track of all your favorite things and submits a whole bunch of adventure ideas to the suggestion box that sorta surround your favorite things

ei special interest being sharks / marine life -> trip through an aquarium, or like you hyperfixate on a certain aesthetic -> walk through a physical Pinterest board lol

Waking up in the morning with a gross feeling in your stomach was already a not-great sign of things to come. The second not-great sign was when you had chills so bad that you had to turn off the air conditioner in your room.. and AC is like one of your favorite parts of the room! Instead of starting to get yourself to wake up, you just laid back down and only pulled yourself out of bed after maybe about an hour when there was a knock at your door, and your housemate's voice called out.

"Hey roomie! Decided to sleep in or somethin'? Normally I see ya already up and at 'em."

After a moment, you flip the blankets off and trudge to the door, your legs shaking slightly for a moment. Opening the door, you see Jax in her usual casual wear compared to you still in your pj's. "Not feeling great.. but thanks for coming to get me up."

Apparently, despite not feeling completely like shit, you still looked like it a little. "Eugh, I know it's getting to summer, but I still think it's a little early for bugs, no?"

You chuckle at that before heading into the bathroom to clean up for the morning.. and check your temperature just in case, better safe than sorry. High 98.. damn, better keep an eye on it then. Heading back into your room--thermometer still in hand--you throw on some 'daytime clothes' before heading out to the living room. Jax was flopped perpendicular across the chair like normal, TV on and channel surfing.

Hearing you walk in, she looks over at you. "Well well well, looks like sleeping beauty finally woke up. Feeling better?"

"Eh kinda.. temp's almost a 99 so I'll be keeping an eye on it. Gonna order something for delivery.. you want something?"

After several minutes, the food delivery arrived and your temperature was slowly going up, and you were definitely feeling it. By the time you were able to actually eat, you only managed to eat barely half of your usual order before your appetite fully denies you to eat any more. Betrayed by my own body.. and with my favorite food no less.

Jax, already having finished eating, notices and looks over. "Damn, whatever ya got looks like it's finally starting to kick your ass."

You can't help but laugh, setting your food aside and flopping down onto the couch. As if to rub it in, your limbs immediately feel heavy as soon as you'd laid down. Checking your temperature again.. and you've officially hit 'fever' thresholds at just over 100°. With a groan, you drop your arms back down, shutting your eyes as you feel the bone-deep tiredness start to settle in. Using what little strength you have, you curl up onto your side and try to maybe fall back asleep.

"That bad, huh? Alright, you're not staying sick on my watch, gimme a minute."

She walks out of the living room, coming back a bit later, hauling your weighted blanket before draping it over you, the slight heft making it so much easier for you to let the exhaustion sink in… Before you could fall asleep, you felt a cool pressure on your head; cracking your eyes open, you see that Jax brought you an icepack, the cold working quickly to relieve the heat of the fever.

"Mmm.. thanks…" Your throat was pretty scratchy, but that wouldn't stop you from voicing your appreciation.

The rest of your day was spent slowly suffering as whatever the hell kind of bug you got.. you'd check your temperature every so often, thankfully not breaking 110°, but still being pretty high. Despite barely having eaten, you had no appetite.. which probably wasn't doing your body any favors in terms of recovering. Of course, Jax was on that after a while when you didn't seem like you'd be eating anytime soon.

She heads over to the kitchen before fishing out some name-brand 'extra hydration' water. Oh yeah.. Pomni probably forgot that here by mistake. "Here, don't gotta have the whole thing at once, just nurse it for a while."

Despite your intent to to exactly that, after just two sips you feel dehydrated like a strip of jerky, and though you don't quite chug the whole thing, you end up drinking the whole bottle relatively quickly. Realizing how quickly you finished it, you sheepishly set down the empty container.

"Hits different when you're sick…" And hey look at that! The hydration has your throat feeling better!

Jax kinda just looks on with surprise before chuckling while shaking her head. "Alright, gimme that, lemme see if I can get you some more of this. What's that saying? 'Hydrate before you diedrate'?"

She picks up the bottle and heads out, coming back later with a few bigger, more square-shaped half-gallon bottles. Despite the increase in volume, you wind up going through one of them before feeling satisfied, though you do still sip on another more slowly. Eventually, night falls, and Jax all but forces you to eat something.. that something being some ramen, mostly because you don't have any instant soup options. You manage a single pack of the noodles, albeit slowly, as your appetite still isn't in full swing. After finishing, Jax helps you back to your room where you basically collapse into bed before shuffling under the covers.

"You better not be sick tomorrow, I was hoping to try out that new game drop. Be a real shame to play it alone~"

With a soft laugh, you take one last swig of water before sleep finally decides to claim you.

i started this like 5 days ago when i woke up feeling similarly Not Great but i got better partway through and left it as a wip

lo and behold it looks like The Muse didn't like that and got Apollo to hit me with something that wasn't a dodgeball

y'know by this point im not feeling as yucky in the stomach but fuck my head feels kinda like shit ... i was gonna say 'i might have ramen tonight' but the last like 4-5 packs i had vanished the other day so

Because, for every smoothed-out angle of his face and shoulders and limbs, there lay a countering patch of residual abstracting darkness. It clung to him like a sickness, glitching in moments when his feelings festered too long. When he stumbled back into old, egregiously welcoming habits and kept his emotions bitten back behind a forcibly reinforced grin, until all that pent-up energy sent sparking twitches of pain through synthetic nerves.

It scared her sometimes.

The clusters of peacefully shut eyes slicing the dark patches of remnant abstraction enveloping his right ear, his left foot, the outside of his right arm. Spindling across the expanse of his chest, from over where his heart was beating to the skin canvassing the lowest rungs of his ribcage on the opposite side.

Not because it tingled like placing her hand to a live wire whenever her fingertips grazed the jagged edges of lingering abstraction. Not because it made her own hand buzz with transferred static and digital distortion.

But because all they served to do was act as an ever-present, constant, threatening reminder of just how close she’d come to losing him.

Of how close he still was to the edge he’d been toeing long before any of them had had the chance to take notice, to hold his hand and guide him away from the precipice.

The fluff of her ears twitched for the third time since they’d fallen into a reciprocally peaceful quiet, catching another slight catch of his breath. Catching the way his tongue clicked distantly, like the commencement of a syllable had been balancing on the tip of his tongue. Like he’d chosen to swallow it back before it could breach the barrier of his teeth and pierce the veil of silence that had descended upon them since they’d flopped down among the grass and pixelated flowers, bathed in the silvery glow of moonlight and luring side by side.

He’d done it twice before, tilting his head against the curve of the hill and letting his eyes trace the outline of her visage, gaze trailing up until it settled on the two little tines protruding from the crown of her skull before he opened his mouth and said absolutely nothing. And every time, she’d watched out of the corner of her eye as his brows pinched and his mouth twisted, frustration simmering in his expression before he rolled his eyes and let his gaze drift back to the starry panoramic arching over the circus grounds.

And she let him.

Let him take all the time he needed.

Because she could wait.

They had digital eternity for him to get his shit together and finally, finally open his big mouth for something other than forcing distance and masking floundering emotions.

“Would-“

It was the first breach of quiet to break the stillness of the night.

He sounded like he was choking on the word.

She heard him swallow thickly, chest lifting with a shuddering intake of breath before he tried again.

“Would you still love me if I was a…?”

She could hear the struggle in his tone, the tightness in his voice. That newly familiar vulnerability that bled into his timbre whenever she was left alone with him for too long. When he was left to simmer in his own thoughts, and she was left to pry the shattered pieces of his psyche from his addled mindscape and out into the open for them to puzzle back into one complete piece together.

He wasn’t good with serious talk. So she usually tried to alleviate the weighty drag of conversations like this with a little levity.

So for his sake, she tried to ease the tension in his bones with a humored quip; “I swear to God, Jax, if you say worm.”

“No,” he scoffed, head lulling against the grass in time with a weighty roll of his eyes. His hands grasped at the air, at nothing, fingers flexing rhythmically in a vain attempt to steady himself. “If- If I was a…”

She turned her head slightly, just enough to bear witness to wordless battling filtering across his visage. She watched as his fingers furled and unfurled, as his arms vibrated with a violent tremble that echoed across the stretches of darkness canvassing his body in lightless patches and daunting reminders.

Her hand slipped into his before she could stop herself. Instinct drew her fingers tight around his, thumb drifting over the bumps of his gloved knuckles as she proffered a vague suggestion; “Somethin’ else?”

He didn’t respond. Not to agree. Not to argue. He just sighed, pulling his knees up and waving her off with a limp bend of his wrist and a mumbled request that she forget it.

“Jax-“

She gave his hand a squeeze.

“I just-“

He interrupted her, then he interrupted himself, muffling a groan of rumbling frustration into his hands as he splayed his palms across his visage, digging the heels of his palms into his eyes before he dragged his gloved hands down his flattened expression. They fell to his stomach, fingers entwining and thumbs twiddling idly.

It took him another long, drawn-out moment of simmering in silent frustration at his newfound inability to formulate words before, finally, a muttered, defeated; “Don’t they bother you?”

“Does what bother me?”

“Those,” he emphasized, gesturing towards the space between her perked-up ears. To the pair of small, bony racks of sharp tines branching out from the top of her skull. “Your stupid antler thingies.”

She arched a brow at the strange inquiry, hands instinctively rising to rub at the base of her crowning protrusions. She answered with a delayed shrug. “I mean, they get in the way sometimes but-“

“You’re supposed to be a girl,” he spat, though his low tonality lacked the venom that used to make his words so biting and mean, avoiding her eyes and fixing his expression into a scowl. “You’re not supposed to…”

Her hand stilled, brows furrowing over perplexed eyes.

“I’m a polygonal deer stuck in a digital circus,” she drawled, gesturing widely to her own anthropomorphic physiology. One leg kicked up momentarily to draw his attention to the very inhuman, very hoof-like structure of her foot. And, rather than allowing for the digital equivalent to gravity to pull her sole down to the ground, she perched her leg on her bent knee, nudging at Jax’s own drawn-up knees with the edge of her hoof.

Her head tilted against the hill simultaneous to the rabbit’s, a slight upward quirk tempting the corner of her mouth when her gaze caught the slightest shrink of squared pupils when their foreheads bumped gently. She nuzzled into the contact, a content sigh lifting her chest before she muttered into the space between their mouths, words parting grinning lips; “I don’t think gender norms apply here.”

The words seemed to hit him like a fist to the gut.

From the way his lips pursed around a sharp intake of breath to the way his brows tilted up in a pitifully pinched expression. From the renewed vigorous blur of his bouncing foot to the nervous twitches of his fingertips against the stitching of his front pocket.

His cheek moved like he was chewing on it, and his eyes twitched to inspect every curve and slant of her visage. Seeking out some subtle hint of deceit or chicanery, in reluctant wait for the telltale falter of her softened expression, for the moment when proffered comfort would yield to cruel humiliation.

And when his internal pursuit came up with nothing, when her gooey expression shifted only when it melted into something even softer, into something more fond than he’d never truly earn the right to deserve, he felt a familiar sting tremble along the edge of his waterline.

Jax blinked, once, twice.

It did nothing to dispel the gathering of emotive dew in the corner of his eyes.

So he turned his head and angled his trembling face away from her, muttering a concurring; “Right.”

The doe’s expression waned slightly, smile dipping as the stubborn object of her wordless affection refused to accept it. A shallow frown creased the space between her brows, head cocking to the side as she let her eyes traverse the tense lines of the bunny’s body, stalling on the patchwork of lingering abstraction.

Still so fragile, she mused, internal and commiserating.

She sat up suddenly, leaning over the rabbit’s avoidant shoulder until her silhouette spilled over the forced apathy of his expression, one hand anchoring itself on the patch of grass in the space between his shoulder and face. Her arm pillared her upper body, holding her upright even as she leaned down over him, tilting her head and offering him a reassuring grin when his eyes, habitually and unwittingly, darted from the dirt he was trying so desperately to burn with his stare and her face. “Would you still be a total asshole?”

The expletive seemed to catch him off guard. With both its newfound and unfamiliar lack of censorship and the stochasticity of her inquiry.

His brows twitched with bemused contemplation. A short scoff interrupted his self-imposed silence before he shrugged, deciding to play along despite his perplexity. “Probably.”

She took that single remark and darted away with it, curling her unoccupied hand around the shoulder he’d purposefully angled away from her in his unspoken upset and using it to pull him back onto the flat of his back. She swung her leg over his waist as soon as his spine had aligned with the curve of the hilltop, settling her weight on his lower stomach. She reveled in the wide-eyed fluster burning along his cheeks, mustering every resistant nerve in her body to combat the insistent urge tempting her mind to lean down and press a flutter of kisses along the cartoonishly pink glow of his cheeks.

Instead, she situated her hands on his chest and cocked her head, a coy grin tilting her mouth. “And would you still think you’re funny?”

Momentary surprise morphed into instant offense, mouth hanging open as a scowl dragged his brows down. He sat up, almost bumping her nose with his face as he blurted a refuting; “I am funny.”

“Eh,” she dissented, shoulders hunching by her jawline as a purposefully pitiful wince contorted her expression, hand teetering back and forth in a playful gesture of sort of.

Jax scowled, narrowing his eyes up at her, a sulking pout pulling at his bottom lip as he let his hands situate themselves in the grass behind him, letting the weight of his upper body fall back on his elbows. “You’re such a bitch.”

She hummed, allowing her expression to soften for the second time since they’d departed from the circus’s colorful interior in favor of the bluish silver of the outside realm. She felt her satisfied simper melt into something small and fond, the creases by the corners of her eyes smoothing out as her hands instinctively found the curve of his cheeks, cupping his lidded expression between her palms and holding it there.

“Would you be happier if you were…”

She searched his eyes for a suitable concluding portraiture.

He didn’t have an answer for her.

So she went vague and quiet, whispering the suggestion into the limited space between them. Like a secret between friends, like a truth between lovers. “Somethin’ else?”

In the very edge of her peripherals, Jax’s gloved fingers fisted synthetic grass between his knuckles, clenching the blades in a death grip as his breath hitched and his pulse stuttered under her fingertips.

He stared. She stared. The moment dragged.

But eventually, to her stifled surprise, she felt his head nod in her hands.

Just barely, like an unintentional twitch of his neck. And, if she hadn’t had his face cupped between her palms, if he wasn’t staring so intently into her eyes, she wouldn’t have even noticed it.

But he was, so she did.

“Then yes,” she affirmed, instantly reciprocating his nod with a curt one of her own, letting her thumb pad trace the fine furs beneath his eye before her lips chased the gentle path of the digit with a fluttering smattering of kisses. “I’d love you if you woke up tomorrow and realized you were a worm.”

Jax’s pupils blew, inky black voids squaring and growing until they almost entirely eclipsed yellow sclera.

He opened his mouth to scoff, or tut, or brush off what he knew to be her attempts to reassure a truth she couldn’t be yet certain of. To reassure a truth he himself hadn’t fully come to terms with.

She interrupted him with a drag of her lips across his other cheek, hand cradling his jaw and tilting his head back so that she could meet his wide-eyed stare wholeheartedly.

“Or whatever it is you’re thinkin’ of.”

She punctuated the quiet assurance with a firm press of her mouth to his, fingertips dragging disrupting lines in the patterns of his fur as her hand glided from his cheek to cradle the back of his head, other hand drifting south and tugging him closer with the straps of his overalls.

His heart hammered against his ribcage.

She felt him mewl into her eager mouth.

It was something soft and unwitting and so undeniably vulnerable it made his face burn and his eyes water.

He resisted the urge to pull her back into him when her lips eventually departed from his.

That old familiar sting tickled his waterline again.

Jax blinked, once, twice.

It did nothing to dispel the gathering of emotive dew in the corner of his eyes.

But, as gentle fingertips caught the beady tears building along the edge of his vision, he found he couldn’t turn his head and hide his face even if his addled mind had wanted to.

So instead, he let instinct guide his forehead into an affectionate bunt against the doe’s, nodding against her with nothing more than a tentatively amenable;

“Okay.”

“can i hold it?”

“what did you just ask me?”

he glances over his shoulder to you in the doorway of the bathroom. you look like you’re drowning in the sleep shirt he let you borrow.

you point to him standing over the toilet, hands already on his pants.

“can i hold it?”

jax clicks his tongue in annoyance, “no, i heard you. i meant why would you ask me that?”

you shrug, “i’ve never peed standing. i wanna try aim it. like a gun.”

he furrows his brows before looking down at the bowl then back at you. “no.”

“why not?” you tilt your head slightly.

“because that’s not a normal thing to ask.

your hand falls back to your side. you stand there staring for a moment, unmoving. he hasn’t moved either, hand still on his zipper.

a heavy sigh escapes him.

She pulled you close, enveloping you in an elegant yet loving embrace. One of her hands gently stroked your back while the other caressed your hair.

“You know I adore it when you do this,” he murmured close to your ear, his voice soft and honeyed. “Out of the blue, for no reason… just because you want to be near me. It makes me feel so special, my love.” He kissed you first on the cheek, then on the corner of your lips, and finally gave you a deep, loving kiss. When he pulled away, he rested his forehead against yours.

“In Cannibal Town, hardly anyone dares to touch me with such confidence… but you always do. And I love it. You can hold me whenever you want, wherever you want. Even if I’m serving tea, even if I’m in the middle of a meeting with other Overlords… come and hold me, my sweet.” He held you for a long time, swaying gently with you as if you were dancing a slow waltz. Every now and then, he gave you little kisses on your forehead and nose.

“You’re my favorite person in all of Hell, did you know that?” he whispered affectionately. “My sweet, loving love.”

Velvette

Velvette was in her fashion studio, reviewing designs on her phone with a focused expression and a furrowed brow. You approached from behind and suddenly hugged her, wrapping your arms around her waist and pressing your chest against her back.

"What the hell—!" Velvette jumped slightly and almost dropped her phone. When she realized it was you, she let out a huff mixed with a laugh. "You're such a needy, you know that?"

Despite her complaints, she didn't move away. On the contrary, she leaned back against you and placed her hands on top of yours, intertwining your fingers.

"What's up, babe? Did you miss your favorite girlfriend?" she asked arrogantly, but her voice softened noticeably. She turned in your arms and looked at you with that superior expression she loved so much, though her cheeks were slightly flushed. She hugged you tightly, burying her face in your neck and breathing in your scent.

“I’m not going to lie… I like it when you do this,” she admitted softly, almost as if it were hard to say. “Suddenly, without asking permission, just because you want to. It makes me feel… desired. Even if you are a fucking cheesy sap.” She pulled you closer, her nails gently tracing your back beneath your shirt. She kissed your neck, then moved up, gently biting her way to your lips, where she gave you a deep, possessive kiss.

“Keep doing it, okay?” she murmured against your mouth. “Even when I’m working, even when I’m at a photoshoot or in a meeting with Vox and Val… come and hold me. It relaxes me. It puts me in a good mood.” She looked into your eyes with a playful but affectionate smile.

“You’re the only one who can touch me like this without asking permission. Don’t ruin it by being less affectionate, okay, babe?”

Carmilla Carmine

Carmilla stood in her private office, facing a table laden with blueprints and angelic weapons, her expression serious and focused. You approached silently and embraced her from behind, carefully wrapping your arms around her waist and resting your head between her shoulder blades.

Carmilla tensed instantly. Her tall, elegant body stiffened reflexively. But as soon as she recognized your scent and your hands, she let out a long sigh and relaxed her shoulders.

“…My love,” she murmured in her deep, regal voice.

She turned slowly within your embrace and gazed down at you from her imposing height. Her red eyes softened in a way only you had the privilege of witnessing. She wrapped her strong arms around you and pulled you firmly against her chest.

“How brave you are… to hug me like this without warning,” she said softly, almost a purr. “Anyone who tried this would end up with a bullet between their eyes.” She held you protectively, one hand on the back of your neck and the other on your waist. He pulled you close, almost as if he wanted to shield you from the entire world. His tail gently tangled around your leg.

“But you… you can do it whenever you want,” he whispered against your hair. “I like it. It reminds me that I still have someone who sees me as more than just the Overlord of Weapons. Someone who simply… loves me.” He kissed the top of your head with devotion, then moved down to your forehead, finally pressing a slow, deep kiss to your lips.
