Like, I’m from the cities. I won’t say where but I’ve been to both of these fucking malls and I’m losing my fucking mind. I knew Mall of America was the biggest in America (hard to conceptualize when it’s always been like. Right There, but I know it), but fucking Southdale is the oldest?!

Fucking. How is this not an annoying piece of trivia I’ve seen all over the place. The exact same slice of outer Minneapolis has two of the most significant pieces of Mall History right fucking there and you can EASILY DRIVE BETWEEN THEM

So I keep getting posts and having to reread them to figure out if the fucker said “Jon” and “Martin” or “J’onn” and “Martian.” Doesn’t help that it’s late and I’m a little tired.

Going to crash the fuck out of I see anyone else say that stupid like about “Rocky would get torn apart if he went to Earth :(“ because it’s at best flat out false and at worst actively misanthropic.

Off the bat, the ‘evil humans’ answer is exploitation. There’s literally nothing valuable or profitable to be gained by vivisecting Rocky. The resulting information is not interesting to a business man and too great a price for a scientist who’d want the information. What Rocky does have is probably tech and information. If he’s in the wrong hands on earth, he’s not getting treated well, but there’s about to be a whole hell of a lot of xenonite on earth. Like, the production of xenonite is way, way more valuable than the cool pneumatics that let Rocky move and they’re not getting the recipe from his body.

The thing is though, is that I fundamentally don’t think that’s the truth. Project Hail Mary is about humanity and hope and it’s reflected in the world. This is a setting where as soon as an apocalyptic threat was discovered, the world dropped all hostilities in order to fix the problem. The Hail Mary itself is the result of global cooperation. This is a world where humans have been watching the very Sun die before them, set aside their animosity, and fought to collectively survive. Humanity paid a terrible price and sacrificed someone in terrified desperation and yet still deserved to be saved. More than that, as humanity faced death and looked to the stars to find a way to save themselves, they found that they weren’t alone. They weren’t alone in the universe, and they didn’t find gods or invaders or incomprehensible monsters, they found other people in the exact same boat. After so many years dreaming about what we’d find out there, imaging ourselves finding anyone else out in the universe, we did, and they were kind. They were kind and our two species managed to be saved together.

Fuck dude, maybe the world is kinder in fiction, but we wouldn’t tell stories of kinder worlds if we didn’t want them. We wouldn’t write stories about aliens coming to our planet and becoming our friends and heroes if we didn’t want them to exist. We wouldn’t write stories about better futures if we were innately monstrous. There is so much evil in this world and there has been for so, so long that I feel like people have lost sight of the fact that we’re all the same thing. Grace was kind and Grace was human. You are kind and you are human.

I dunno dude, I like Radahn well enough (hate his dlc fight) but just- Malenia is so interesting and so complicated and so compelling in so many ways yet whenever this gets brought up it’s to glaze Radahn and call her a fraud for destroying him with the disease she was born with.
