Flipping my absolute shit right now. The first modern American mall and the largest American mall are 13 minutes from each other. You can go from the first to the biggest in under 15 minutes. Theyāre so close to each other. What does that even do to your perception of what malls are like. Theyāre neighbors. Iām losing my mind.
Like, Iām from the cities. I wonāt say where but Iāve been to both of these fucking malls and Iām losing my fucking mind. I knew Mall of America was the biggest in America (hard to conceptualize when itās always been like. Right There, but I know it), but fucking Southdale is the oldest?!
Fucking. How is this not an annoying piece of trivia Iāve seen all over the place. The exact same slice of outer Minneapolis has two of the most significant pieces of Mall History right fucking there and you can EASILY DRIVE BETWEEN THEM
Gotta go back to the Burnsville Center to remind myself what a normal person mall looks like. Holy shit.
