Whoever You Want
a canon compliant Jily fic set in their 6th year. Basically a development of two unstable teenagers messy relationship. its not really slowburn in terms of status but narratively they're still burning.
53.589 words, 10/? chapters, rated M, WIP
idiots in love, codependency, obsessive behaviours, toxic relationships, situationships, angst, hurt/comfort, developing relationships, wizarding politics, pureblood politics, found family, un-sugarcoated James Potter, Lily lowk has problems, jily kisses in the first chapter but they're TOXIC TOXIC so they still couldn't figure out
Lily had known him for quite a long time now—James Potter and his weird hair, his desperate jokes, and those horn-rimmed glasses sitting on the bridge of his nose. He couldn’t help but make a fool of himself in front of her every single time. But Lily had never once considered turning him down as "resisting," despite everyone else calling it that, talking about his charm and how cute he acted, how much he fancied her. He was...pretty resistible, really. Until he wasn't, at least.
flying lesson
its actually a memory from the long fic, but could also stand alone as a quick-read one-shot. more like a culture shock for both James and Lily. but its their first week in Hogwarts so you could argue its normal- inevitable even

Lily Evans is drunk. As luck would have it, James Potter is sitting right next to her, and he is also drunk. Good thing she's not a lightweight like him — it would be embarrassing.

Radicalized Children, Marginalized Children, Period Typical Bigotry, Discrimination, Bullying, Hogwarts First Year, first week actually, Political Cults, Pureblood Politics, Canon-Typical Violence, Fist Fights, Beating, Spitting, Blood and Injury, Swearing, Face Punching, Face Slapping, Punching Fascists, POV Third Person Limited, POV Mulciber Jr., Lily Evans Potter-centric
Bright was the first thing he thought about Lily Evans. The red haired girl with bright, jewel-like eyes. She was eye catchy with the whole contrast, easy to remember, to spot on— almost like a bright object moving around with the magic roaring in her veins.
So, when he first heard her talking about her blood lineage in such causality, he took it personally. And like every kid who grew up in a closed environment, he panicked at first— resorting to violence second. Bruce was not the first kid to figure out the reclamation of the narrative through violence, castigating the chosen subject of the threat he felt in his bones.
He became the last one to choose Lily Evans though.
OR
lame ass posh pureblood kid bruce mulciber meets with sweet, ethereal, charming, classroom AND street smart lily evans and gets humbled. its a little too brutal and ig visceral for 11 yos BUT i mean one is radicalized and the other is marginalized what is there to do? political stakes might be a little too heavy, but trust me i dont play about complex characters, especially children.
