Okay this is way more stream of consciousness post based on the 20 minute direct. Now let me be clear this will have spoilers if you haven’t watched yet.

Okay so it genuinely feels like InSys learned from a lot from the criticism of 3H and its structured as we’re are getting 4 unique routes that are going to be able to be played parallel. 4 wholly unique stories and characters.

But we are also getting convergence route. That’s right-the big twist is Eshmel needs all four lords to help him in the future against the battle of the demon god. So Golden Path is super achievable in this. Now I know some won’t like this given 3H and its commitment to not being able to satisfy everyone.

Now that doesn’t mean there won’t be consequences. You need to actively change history to stop them from disappearing in the future. And honestly this plays into improving one of my biggest issues with FE in the last few years-lack of real choice and consequences. Fates and 3H felt like they trapped you in a locked in route with a set story playing out. Here though? Looks like there’s a lot you’ll need to change the future.

There are also lots of gods. In fact one with time travel power. So it’ll be interesting to see the difference between Sothis and their other powerful beings.

A little extra context is that they basically reveal who Leda’s dad’s killer is, Theodora is from a country with a goddess people fear, and Dietrich is here by accident.

I love the map and free time function. This feels like it’s fixing much of the tedium of 3H’s attempt at free time.

In a lot of ways Fortune’s Weave seems like the Culmination of everything learned in post Awakening FE and incorporating it and improving on it. This is genuinely the first time I am excited for this game beyond “It’s another Fire Emblem.”

The exploration of Echoes, the routes of and the free time of 3H, the cast size of Fates, the time travel plot of Awakening, the graphical presentation of Engage. Etc. obviously the writing and storytelling is still subject to how good it’ll be but from a mechanical and presentation side, I’m pretty sold.

I wonder if it's true playability or if he'll be a controllable NPC. Or maybe like Rhea in the maps she's in where you have to protect her.
