Double Dipping
“Here,” Shane murmurs, resigned, and passes the smallest pouch to Ilya. “It’s clean, I swear.”
As if Ilya would ever believe that Shane doesn’t obsessively clean his toys after he uses them. God, he’s unreal.
Ilya unties the drawstring, frowning. He’s sure Shane had indicated that his original toy was a dildo, not a plug, but maybe he’s just remembering wrong. After all, it was a throwaway conversation from years ago. Still, he peers inside, and when that doesn’t help, he tips the toy out onto his waiting palm.
He looks at it for a few moments, his eyebrows rising.
“Don’t laugh,” Shane grumbles, even though Ilya hasn’t said a word.
“No, I’m sure it’s… fine,” Ilya tries, a little baffled by the toy. There’s nothing wrong with it, it’s a perfectly normal toy; black, matte and almost soft to the touch, gently curved with a bulbous head. It’s also completely smooth, no wrinkles or ‘veins’ for texture, making it look a little alien. Ilya’s never thought too much about the type of toy Shane would purchase, but he supposes it makes sense that Shane would have been a little intimidated by anything flesh-toned and lifelike. Still, while Ilya is quietly thrilled that Shane went out of his way to purchase something like this so early into their acquaintance, he is a little shocked that it’s so… small.
“I hadn’t actually put anything in my ass before when I bought it,” Shane defends, his cheeks reddening. “So I didn’t want to get something too, uh.”
“But you got other ones, yes?” Ilya asks, putting the toy back in the pouch and tying the drawstring. “More satisfying?”
“Oh my God,” Shane complains, but he sits on the edge of the bed and gestures to the open case. “Eventually, yeah.”
Ilya pulls the toys out by the drawstrings of their cases, leaving the small case behind in favour of the three more properly-sized ones. Upon opening them, he notes that they’re all relatively similar, one narrower, longer and with a firmer core, one thicker but a little shorter. He makes an interested noise when he sees the third, because it’s at least purple… and then he tilts his head to the side, because it looks almost eerily familiar.
“You kept this?” He asks, shoving the two other toys back in the case and taking the purple dildo out of its bag.
Shane doesn’t meet his eyes, and even his ears are turning red. “I mean… yeah, of course. What did you think I’d do, throw it away?”
Ilya shrugs. “Maybe. Probably.”

Half His Age by Jeanette McCurdy (Spoilers! Opinion on It)
I absolutely was rooting for Waldo to stop and understand what the teacher was doing. I feel like a lot of little girls go through that moment during grooming from an older man where you realize he's nothing good and actively manipulating you. It sucked when I went through it. However, I wasn't breaking into his house. I wasn't meeting his wife. I didn't go after a guy. It was the opposite. Sure, Mr. Corgi (or however you spell it) is the adult in the situation. He should have stopped Waldo immediately. No child coming 'after' an adult is stronger than the adult predator entertaining it. Mr. Corgi sucks so bad. He's evil. He intentionally tricks and manipulates Waldo. He sees a girl who will blow him during a 'break up' in an effort to keep him and keeps her strung along. He claims he cares about her grades as her teacher. Then, gets 'back' with her after seeing her have an age-appropriate relationship with a normal guy. He doesn't sense anything is wrong when Waldo admits she hates whenever he's with his wife. He's as disgusting as every predator.
I'm hoping that Jeanette wrote this in an effort to get grooming victims to realize how gross this is. How gross men are. How disgusting they are. Imagine being with a married man, around three times your age, as he shoves you into a bedroom closet because his wife almost caught him being a pedophile. And yes. I mean that. This teacher is beyond deplorable.
Hating your wife doesn't mean you should cheat on her. Hating your marriage doesn't mean you fuck a teenager. Hating your life doesn't mean you become a pedophile. It's disgusting.
Having your dick covered in a child's period blood while you talk to your wife doesn't mean you should dip that same dick into your wife. How absolutely disgusting. He thought of it. He was fantasizing about it.

thinking about how shane and ilya's expressions of queerness are so different and how it doesn't relate to their preferred positions during sex at all, because it's so refreshing to see.
shane is a bottom through and through, but unlike in many other queer media, he isn't effeminate or delicate. he's masculine and brash and jocky, he works his grill and sets up fires and wears fucking.. khaki pants or whatever. he's just a guy. a guy that prefers to be fucked.
ilya likes topping (although he would be down for whatever as long as it makes shane happy) but he isn't some burly, macho "i will dominate you" dude like tops are shown. he wears his cunty little jean paul gaultier tiger print and slutty tank tops, and he's sassy and has a gay accent in russian and makes these flamboyant hand gestures. they don't take away from his masculinity, but the important thing is that ilya doesn't have to be gruff and manly and stoic.
and it makes me so happy to see that the weird gender role adjacent stereotypes about topping and bottoming arent placed on them.

as a queer person i adore the dynamic they have going on, and the nuances of their genders and sexualities and the roles they adopt. i love that the show itself doesn't play into the strange hetslop that gay media, especially books, seem to portray. re: rachel reid describing shane as petite and hairless.
however whenever i talk to a straight person about the show they seem hellbent on projecting heteronormative roles onto them. and this is also why i hate the "shane walks ilya like a dog" trope with a vengeance because it reminds me so much of the "haha the old ball and chain" jokes, even if it's taken in a positive manner.
i can't stomach the way shane and ilya are often codified into wife and husband roles by the fandom because this is a queer show! let them be queer. let them contain multitudes.
are people under the impression that aromantic people never want to have close personal relationships with the people in their lives. "oh i wish i was aro it would save me all this drama!" actually human relationships are always deep and complicated and messy and have the potential to hurt and help and change your life and being romantic is just one possible aspect of that. aromantic people want to be close to the people around them just like anyone else. and i know the real issue is that people think romantic relationships are the only way to be truly close to someone else but it's weird and off-putting to constantly hear the implication that aros are somehow fundamentally incapable of forming relationships that would impact their lives negatively cause they don't wanna go on dates with people. not even mentioning the aros who do

I liked shane's mental health and seeing his journey in therapy, and I also loved the way the relationships were navigated in light of the events of the fic. I can't wait to see how it wraps up!

Can I just say that the conflict from "Bluey" would have been something that deserves to be on the r/AITA subreddit or the r/TrueOffMyChest subreddit? Imagine you're a family friend who nannies for your friend. You absolutely love their two daughters and are super close to the whole family. You meet a lovely man who just so happens to be your best friend's brother-in-law, and you start dating. Things go so well that you're engaged to be married, you start planning your wedding and then the day comes. You start preparing with your best friend and that's when you hear the news.
Your best friend's other brother-in-law and the brother of your fiancé spits out the godawful news. Rad, the man you're supposed to be married to in a few hours, made a life-challenging decision to relocate to a different state and not tell you, the woman he's supposed to be honest with.
You're livid.
Now you run away from your wedding and the only person who brings you back is your best friend. Not your husband-to-be.
However, once you're found, he comes to find you himself. That's the only thing that manages to save your wedding.
Off-screen, you and your fiancé communicate. You explain how you don't want to relocate, especially without a conversation first. This decision impacts both of you. You don't want to start a marriage with a discrepancy like this.
I can imagine Rad posting on r/AITA about the situation. The title would probably be something like: 'AITA for not telling my wife-to-be we'll be moving miles away from everyone until the day of the wedding?' I can imagine the stupid 'ESH' response from most people. Some Reddit people can be cruel and would probably frame the Frisky-running-away thing as a sign of a 'bad wife' thing. I would hope most would rule 'YTA' and tell him to 'fix it immediately before you lose your wife'.
The update would be beautifully written out after their honeymoon.

imagining a time where shane tells ilya that he put on a suit before their first hookup. like, years down the line they’re dressing up for an event and shane looks in the mirror and starts giggling. having flashbacks of fixing his tie just like he’s doing right now. and ilya’s like ??? "what is so funny?" and shane obviously tries to play it off. all “nothing. it’s nothing.” but he has this goofy ass look on his face he can’t quite hide. it’s not until ilya gets all up in his space, hands sliding around his waist, puppy dog eyes coming out in full force, that shane goes “it just reminded me of the first time we got together”. and this really throws ilya through a loop because huh?? and so he has to explain. how he was so nervous and so excited and so full of uncontrolled energy that he put on a full suit and tie before ilya came knocking on his door. how he then had to scramble to take it all off, put it away neatly, and then act like he wasn't just sitting in the dark thinking he had lost his mind. this, obviously, sets ilya off. laughing, tears in his eyes. because this is the love of his life. he's so in love with this goofy ass boy that not only had this ridiculous idea, but that fully went through with it for a minute. he gathers enough composure to hit him with a "so you were reaaally trying to impress me, yes?". safe to say they were late to the event.
