I read somewhere recently about the star ruby being consider a joke by some thelemites. is there any truth to this?
I think you mean the Star Saphire? Star ruby is just rebranded LBRP.
Itâs about sex (what else would it be with thelemites?)
You can still do the ritual as itâs written, or how it may be interpreted, or just laugh at it like a lot of thelemites that donât actually practice magick. âHehe sex position heheheâ
Though maybe the Star Ruby is also a joke - wouldnât rule it out đ¤ˇââď¸

what are you thoughts on reality shifting and the tick tockers doing it claiming to visit harry potter and junk like that?
Iâm going to ignore that I read that and any possibility that it could be a thing that people are trying to do.
Sometimes I wish humans had never evolved to sentience.

What are your thoughts on ethics as a result of your beliefs?
My beliefs have nothing to do with my personal ethical viewpoint...???
This is a rather weird question. Youâre not one of those people that thinks religion is the only place that ethical and moral standards come from are you?
- Mod U
First off, love this blog. Someone had to say it. Secondly, what are your thoughts on changelings/families with fairy blood? Irrc from the witchcraft anthro classes I've taken in uni, a lot of it was mislabeled mental disorders, but do you think there's anything to the fairy thing and do you have any resources about it? My family (Irish Travellers for context) apparently had a changing 3 gens back and we've produced very talented seers, but most have also been diagnosed w/ autism.
Thanks! Love you too, anon.Â
I mentioned this topic in an earlier post [link]. There are absolutely lineages and families that claim descent from non-human spirits, as well as living spirit spouses who are wedded to spirits and intend to/already have children with them (whether this is by incarnating a spirit into a pregnancy or by other means like having the spirit possess a human partner depends on the tradition). I could provide a number of examples just from my own culture where these practices are the subject of many folk tales and traditions of magic, and I personally know a number of rural cunning folk from my country who venerate non-human ancestors that lived as humans, as well as their non-human parent spirits. The ways in which the ânon-humanâ aspect of the born children is determined varies greatly, but almost always includes certain physical omens and characteristics as well as observable psychic talent, for lack of a better expression. Ultimately, such things are always confirmed with divination.
Of course, not every person born in a caul or with two hearts, two sets of teeth, certain birthmarks, and so on is a fairy or a witch or a vampire etc. Even in my culture itâs not unheard of to hear children with certain atypical physical characteristics and mental disorders being labelled as âfairy childrenâ, which only furthers the ableism and social isolation so many are subjected to. Itâs as delicate a subject as any especially when attempting to draw the lines between genuine spirit traditions and the all-too-human prejudices that pervade them. There are also those I know who were formally diagnosed with certain disorders but are also talented shamans who serve their villages and claim fairy blood, and find a balance between both aspects in their own interpretation of their communal role, and its their voices Iâve learned the most from in this matter.

Imagine that, thi/s is/nt mag/ic are anti feminist anti sjws sooooo surprised by thiiiiisss /sarcasm

That's literally not what I was doing but go off. I wanted to point out that you're an anti feminist. Idc about the trans people in magic argument. Like congrats on not being a transphobe but you're still a sexist sooooo stop pretending my post was about anything other than that. If I cared enough to dig through for all the times you chuds mentioned being anti sjws I would but I don't have an endless supply of dumpster fire energyike you do (btw I feel it through the screen like fix your chakras fam I pulled the devil straight up for your solar plexus do you really want your power coming from that???? Whatevs tho) to expend on a blog devoted to being trash sooooo
Tips for magic to do when moving to a completely new area and you want to get the lay of the land and see what kind of spirits are about?
I would definitely research some of the local history, myths, folklore, etc. as well as look into which populations used to live on that land, which currently do, and who is buried where. A quick scan through local cemetery listings can reveal a lot of useful information to the discerning sorcerer. Once you have a better understanding of the sorts of spirits you might encounter, you could always do a basic road opening and offering ritual to introduce yourself to local spirits, let them know that you appreciate the hospitality, and that you hope to have a beneficial relationship. You could set up an agreement for regular offerings, even if theyâre quite simple, and ask that in return the local spirits open the ways to your success in the new area, whatever that might mean to you (new friends, business prospects, etc.).
Last time I moved, I determined through divination and the advice of my own spirits who scouted the area for me which landmarks were places of power I could commune with the local dead and nature spirits at. It was there that I did the majority of my offerings and local work. But even just a simple rock near your home at which you slather honey and pour milk is sufficient once youâve established your contact.
Best of luck with the move!

Someone made a Reddit post talking about you called, "[Witchcraft] How a Discord of Tumblr âReal Witchesâ Banished a Bunch of âFluffy Witchesâ to the Weenie Hut and then Vanished". (Personally, I think the author (u/imafluffywitch) is slandering your name, you might want to check it out.)
Weâve seen it. Absolutely delicious shit.

do any of you use lenormand cards? Iâve been trying to learn but since theyâre so specific and not really intended for interpretation it goes against my instincts from how I read tarot. can it really work as reliably as tarot while being so dead-on and concrete?
Yes, I read Lenormand. In my opinion the beauty of this divination system comes from the specificity of the meanings of the cards, and how specific forces within those cards interact with each other as they are read in pairs, combinations, or as a grand tableau to yield a much more diverse set of possible answers. Additionally, throughout their history of use, there have been countless meanings ascribed to each card, which can allow for further interpretation. Spirits or deities with patronage over the art of divination can also help facilitate this varied understanding, in whispering to you information about the querent and their situation, dictating which meanings of the cards to go with, dictating which cards are interacting with other cards and in what way, etc. Lenormand, or really any other divination system, can be consulted just as reliably and accurately as Tarot in this way- accuracy ultimately relies on the skill of the diviner. -Mod K
Is "Mastering Witchcraft" worth the read?
Damn, itâs almost as if we donât have a reading list that addresses this exact question
(Yeah itâs fine)

I know that you had shat on spirit companion shops before for being scams but I want to address a myth about it but I can't write a paragraph on it. I ended up getting a familiar from online and a family member actually had seen her manifest multiple times. Her real form is a secretary bird, she has bitten me on the hand multiple times and she sometimes sits on my head. I've felt the familiar on my head/hand and someone saw her so is this one a real spirit? She came through reverse adoption.
Here are some of my thoughts on this matter:
1. Let me just get this out of the way: yes, it is possible to conjure a familiar or a spirit for another person, seat it in some vessel, and give it to them. There are techniques to do such a thing across cultures and systems of magic.Â
2. Spirit companion shops are not an example of this in the slightest. They absolutely are scams. That does not meant the person running them does not believe in their work; in other words, they likely do not see themselves as consciously fraudulent (though Iâm sure know they are frauds and scam people anyway). But when you have someone who essentially knows no magic (though they might pretend/believe otherwise) offering to sell an assortment of imaginary friends to people, from spirits of various traditions they have no exposure to, to romance novel-type âvampireâ and âdemonâ (oh god) âloversâ, fantasy and role-play inspired tropes and âspeciesâ of âfairiesâ, âdragonsâ, and whatever else, putting them in tacky jewelry and gemstones and then sending them off to people, itâs hard not to raise an eyebrow. In fact, itâs probably a good thing that such claims are false, because if any of these people were capable of summoning these spirits theyâd quickly get devoured by them and find out that they are nothing like their paranormal romance books and TV series portray them to be in pop culture.
One google search of âhaunted djinnâ or something similar renders all these incredibly blatant fake results. If half of these âconjurersâ could summon even one of the many âking and queenâ djinns while knowing literally nothing about Arabic magic and the existing techniques to come into contact with such beings, they would be wealthy enough to not have to resort to selling Etsy jewelry as imaginary playmates. Itâs frankly disgusting. Not to mention that there are no guidelines on safety, discerning lying/trickster spirits from ones that are benevolently disposed to people, how to get rid of and repel spirits, and so on.Â
3. Let us never forget the ability of people to convince themselves of utter nonsense. I once had the displeasure of happening upon an online group of incredibly mentally unstable teenagers who were utterly convinced they were not only âdemonkinâ but also âkinâ literal fictional characters whom they claimed to not only hear the voices of but also feel their presences/touches. Keeping in mind, I had never heard of such a phenomena prior to being introduced to this hellsite by the other mods, whom I met off Tumblr. One can convince themselves of almost anything. Discerning what one is experiencing and verifying the efficacy and tangible reality of such experiences is another matter entirely.Â
4. If you lucked upon someone who was able to send you a genuine spirit, it is important to have the discernment to figure out if the spirit is who they say they are, or if theyâre essentially a psychic shell that anything could inhabit and take the form of what you expect them to look like. From your description it seems like youâre having experiences of touching and feeling this spirit, whatever it may be. But can you communicate with it? Can it bring you knowledge you otherwise would not have? Can it bring you boons such as money, grant you success, teach you hidden names and gestures by which to call it, explain its function and how it came to be associated with you? Or is it some sort of being that for whatever reason has chosen to go along with its given description, though its true nature is more malevolent?Â
5. The fact that you mention it having bitten you multiple times is not exactly helping the case.
Essentially, my stance that such shops are scams remains. Whether or not someone ends up with some sort of genuine presence is almost irrelevant when one can do nothing with it and does not know how to discern its character, intentions, nature, and so on. For all we know, it could be a parasitical spirit hoping to get offerings and sustenance and will role play along with whatever form is expected of them. If you are fortunate enough that this is not the case, itâs up to you to determine what it is youâve invited into your home and exactly how beneficial it is by verifying and testing its claims and abilities.Â

So thereâs some discussion going on about using.... windex.... for cleansing... in witchcraft. Iâm curious to hear your thoughts on this.
When you said âdiscussionâ there I think you mean âbrain rotâ

The witchblr discourse seemed particularly mind numbing today (more of the same "I've been calling myself a witch for three weeks and want lazy-ass workarounds for basic technique" horseshit), so thank you for the breath of fresh snarky air that is your blog. Also, totally agree on Apocalyptic Witchcraft. That book was a rag and I can't believe more people haven't called it out.
As mind-numbingly toxic as this inbox can get with its pointless tantrums, I do check it every now and then and appreciate the kind messages like yours. I would update/answer more frequently, but am usually quite busy with my own magical practice!
Haha, honestly it shocks me how many people seemed to have read Red Goddess and Apocalyptic Witchcraft and thought âthis is itâ. It was such mindless, masturbatory drivel. Some men truly think âwitchcraftâ is whatever titillates them and gets them horny, whether in women or in whatever politics they find fashionable in the moment.Â

Where are you from? Im Bulgarian and what you said abt vampires and witches is crazy similar to the folk beliefs here
Very close to Bulgaria, actually! Also in the Balkans. :)Â
